Five yet-to-be indentified Nigerians, were involved in a ghastly motor accident on Friday evening, in the Spintex area of Accra, Ghana.

According to eyewitnesses, the victims were in a Benz when it collided with a parked container in the area. It resulted in a heavy impact and the Benz caught fire.

“The Benz caught fire immediately and two were able to escape while three of them were trapped inside. One of the survivor’s leg had been decapitated and died when he got out while the other was quickly rushed to the hospital.

Unfortunately, by the time the firemen arrived, the victims had been burnt beyond recognition,” a source said.

Twin sisters, Amesha Thuesday Grant and Amela Latahsa Thuesday on Wednesday, February 24, gave birth to their babies some 13 minutes apart at the New Amsterdam Regional Hospital in Guyana.

Both infants, a girl named Cassidy Miracle Grant and a boy named Myron Kingsley Rajgopaul arrived at 9:10hrs and 9:23hrs respectively. Both babies weighed some 3kg.

Amesha and Amela were both admitted to the hospital on February 23.

A statement posted by the Regional Democratic Council of Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), on Facebook said that the Regional Health Officer Dr Vishalya Sharma and Medical Superintendent Dr Vasana Henry were thrilled that the institution was chosen by the mothers to care and manage their deliveries.

The new mothers, Amesha and Amela said they are thankful to God that they are able to share this experience with each other.

"Father I wanna thank you for bringing me and my sister through safe with our delivery. Twins make twin cousins mins apart. They both would be celebrating their birthday together while me and my twin gone do the same" Amela wrote on Facebook.

A retired Commissioner of Police, Yomi Onashile, has died of COVID19 complications. He died today January 30 at the Isolation centre at Olodo, in Ibadan, Oyo State where he was being treated.

Onashile was said to have been on admission at the COVID-19 Isolation Centre since January 24.

Before his retirement from the Nigeria Police Force, the deceased served as Commissioner of Police in Abia, Oyo, Ekiti and Lagos states.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the retired police commissioner’s death.

A yet-to-be-identified man was found dead in his car along the CMD Magodo road in Lagos state on Friday, January 22.

A statement from the Director-General of Lagos State Emergency Management Authority LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said the agency received an emergency call and when the staff arrived at the scene, they found a lone driver who had apparently "slumped at the wheel." The vital signs of the man was checked and he was confirmed dead.

The @followlasema paramedic team responded to a distress call and upon arrival met a lone driver who had apparently slumped at the wheel. The patient’s vital signs were checked, pulse was absent, pupils were fixed and dilated, patient was dead already.

Victim's relatives who were already present on scene agreed to transport him to the nearest morgue. The agency paramedics and the @PoliceNG were on the scene. The vehicle has been moved from the thoroughfare.''the statement read

Suspected armed robbers have killed a pastor, Kelvin Orumor in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Orumor, the General Overseer of Kingdom Advancement Christian Centre, was reportedly shot dead by the assailants at Edjeba area of Warri on Tuesday, January 12.

It was gathered that the cleric was killed during an operation by the gang at a shopping complex in a neighbourhood where he had visited.

He was rushed to a government hospital where he was confirmed dead by doctors.

"We heard he walked into them when they were robbing a plaza. They shot him. He died before he got to the hospital." a source said.

The Plateau State Police Command, has confirmed the arrest of a 55 year old Man, Abdulhamid Sale, who was accused of raping seven teenagers in Bukuru community of Jos South, North Central Nigeria.

Spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command ASP Gabriel Ubah, made the confirmation to ait.live in Jos, the State Capital.

Ubah said, “The Command is aware of the matter and has been transferred to the SCID for discrete investigation.

Narrating the incident, a youth leader in Bukuru Community Aliyu Hassan, said “the arrest of the suspect came after a report by a mother to one of the victims to the vigilante group in the area that she saw her daughter with a phone and felt that something was wrong.

According to him, “After a thorough investigation, we found out that the phone was given to the girl by the said Abdulhamid Sale, and further checks revealed that he raped seven girls, mostly 13 years old in Kugiya area of Bukuru, who are mostly hawkers, by luring them with as little as 50 Naira, and small Tecno Phones.

The Youth leader while expressing disappointment over the incident called on parents to always keep an eye on their children, saying there are bad eggs in the society who would always want to spoil teenagers for their surreptitious objectives.

According to reports, officers from the newly formed security unit, Operation Delta Hawk, were reportedly chasing a driver known as Joshua who allegedly refused to stop and so they allegedly fired gunshots at his car. One of the stray bullets landed on the yet-to-be-identified mother of four, killing her on the spot while Joshua sustained a gunshot wound.

The officers reportedly dragged him out of his car with the gunshot wound before whisking his car away, leaving him to battle for his life. Residents in the area were the ones who rushed Joshua to the hospital.

Activist, Harrison Gwamnishu shared the sad story online and has vowed to lead a protest in Asaba today to demand justice for the victims.

Operation Delta Hawk was launched by the state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, in November 10 2020 to secure the lives and property of residents of the state. Operation Delta Hawk comprises of different security agencies and vigilante groups.

A man and his daughters had their convication ceremony on the same day and their photos have gone viral on social media.

The photos were shared by one of the daughters. She revealed that she earned a BBC degree, her sister got her Master's degree, while their father got his PhD and they were all having their convication on the same day.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has extended the deadline issued to telecommunication companies to block sim cards without the owner's National Identification Number (NIN).

Last week, the Nigerian Communications Commission NCC ordered telecommunications companies to within two weeks block all Sim cards not linked to NIN. The order led to uncontrollable crowds at NIMC offices across the country amidst the second wave of COVID-19

However, in a statement released this evening, the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy says the deadline has been extended.

The statement titled: “Extension of Registration Period and Cancellation of USSD and Verification Fees’ reads

“The National Task Force on National Identification Number and SIM Registration met today, 21st December 2020.

The meeting was chaired by the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Pantami with major stakeholders in the sector including Chairman – NCC, EVC-NCC, DG-NITDA, DG-NIMC, ECTS/ECSM-NCC, Chairman ALTON, CEOs of MTN, Airtel, Ntel, Glo, Smile, and 9Moble in attendance.

Based on the endorsement of the Federal Government of Nigeria, the following resolutions were made:

Three (3) weeks extension for subscribers with NIN from 30th December 2020 to 19th January 2021;

and Six (6) weeks extension for subscribers without NIN from 30th December 2020 to 9th February 2021.

NIMC has provided strategies to enable citizens attend the registration in full compliance with Covid-19 protocols – particularly the use of facemasks which remains mandatory and maintenance of social distancing.”
