But amidst it all, there was music - great music. Music that made mothers get off their sets, that made women fall in love, that made grown men cry, that mended broken hearts, served as accomplice for spliff moments, soundtracks protests and set clubs on fire. Nigerian actress, Cossy Ojiakor’s fiance, Abel Jurgen, has called off their engagement. Even though the engagement is barely four months old, the fiance called it off on grounds of domestic violence. According to Abel, he took the decision after Cossy got into a fight with him after getting drunk. He wrote; “Finally, its over between Cossy and I after she got in a fight with me after getting drunk. “This is what she did to me, got bitten from different corners.” The 35-year-old started out as a singer as well as a video vixen. In 2013, she dropped ‘Nutty Queen’, her album, which she admits conveys important lessons for the masses. A 10-year-old girl, Binta Shehu, on Thursday, drowned into an open well in Yanka Tsari, Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area of Kano State. According to HumAngle, the deceased had gone out to fetch water for her family in the night when the incident happened. The Spokesperson, Kano State Fire Service, Sa’idu Muhammad, confirmed the incident. He stated that the victim was rescued and later confirmed dead. The United States have commended the Nigerian Police for arresting two members of a trans-national kidnap syndicate involved in the kidnap of an American Citizen, Philippe Nathan Walton. Walton was on October 28,2020 , kidnapped at his farm in Masalata Village, Republic of Niger. The two suspects, Aliyu Abdullahi, M, 21, and Aliyu Umaru, M, 23, both from Sokoto State, were arrested on November 25, 2020. In a tweet, the United States Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Tibor Naggy, wrote; We applaud the Nigerian Police Force for successfully pursuing the ring that kidnapped an American citizen in October. The three-time African champions remain unmoved in the latest Fifa rankings released by the world football governing body on Thursday, December 10, 2020. Gernot Rohr’s Super Eagles garnered a total of 1474 points to stay as the fifth-best team on the continent behind Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco. Nigeria played only four games.l this year- The first match ended as a 1-0 defeat to Algeria in an international friendly. Before a 1-1 draw against Tunisia in another international warm-up game staged at the Jacques Lemans Arena, Austria. Nigeria’s double-header Africa Cup of Nations qualifier versus Sierra Leone ended 4-4 and 0-0 respectively. Senegal are ranked first on the continent and 20th in the world with 1558 points. Belgium claimed the team of the year prize for the third consecutive year having won six of their eight matches played in 2020.
