Nigerian actress Tonto Dikeh, who is also known as King Tonto, has taken to her Instagram page to make a shocking revelation of how she lost two persons to coronavirus in 24 hours.

“Shit is fucking real, ” Tonto writes on her Instagram.

Truth be told, a number of Nigerians have thrown caution to the wind concerning the virus.

While many are of the opinion that the virus isn’t in Nigeria because they haven’t seen someone they know suffer from Covid-19, others are of the opinion that it is in the country but not as much as the numbers say.

Taking to her Instagram page, Tonto Dikeh writes: “Lost an acquaintance yesterday, lost another just now… COVID-19 isn’t on break guys. It ain’t no myth, shit is fucking real.”

Whatever school of thought you belong to, please stay safe.

Police officer again

Although no life was lost, the fire destroyed goods and other properties worth millions of naira.

Some traders at Gowon Estate in Lagos State are still counting their loses following a fierce fire that razed 11 shops on 401 Road in the early hours of Saturday.

It was gathered that officials of the Lagos State Fire Service, LASEMA Response Fire and Rescue Unit (LRU Fire) and the Federal Fire Service battled to put out the fire and prevented it from spreading to other shops.

The cause of the fire could not be ascertained as at the time of this report.

Kenneth Imasuagbon, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratc Party has stepped down for Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Imasuagbon stepped down from participating in the primary a few hours before the election.

He had earlier said he would not step down for Obaseki because the party had "concluded ward and local government congress before Obaseki came".

Two aspirants - Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama and Gideon Ikhine - had earlier stepped down for Obaseki.

Obaseki had defected to the PDP from the All Progressives Congress after his disqualification by the party over his academic credentials.

APC May Not Have Candidate For Ondo Governorship Election, INEC Warns

As the crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress in Edo State gets messier, the party is also in deep trouble over the conduct of its primary election in Ondo State.

A source at the party's headquarters disclosed that they may not have a candidate for the Ondo governorship election scheduled for October 10, 2020.

A document seen by reporters indicated that the party notified INEC that it had fixed July 20, 2020 for its primary election in the state and invited the commission to monitor the exercise.

However, the letter with Ref. No. APC/NHDQ/INEC/19/020/013 dated June 17, 2020 was only signed by the Acting National Secretary of the party, Waziri Bulama.

INEC replied the party that the letter violates the provision of Article 4.4 of the commission's regulations and guidelines for the conduct of party primaries, which requires that such notices must be jointly signed by the National Chairman and National Secretary of a political party.

Consequently, INEC rejected the letter and advised the party to do the needful. The letter is signed by the Secretary to the commission, Mrs Rose Oriaran-Anthony.

As a result of the development, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu faces disqualification from the Ondo governorship election as the APC crisis may prevent the submission of names of contestants for the party's primary.

By provision of Section 85 (1) of the Electoral Act, political parties are required to give INEC 21 days notice for the conduct of their primaries for governorship elections.

According to the timetable released by INEC on February 6, 2020, party primaries for the Ondo governorship election begins on July 2 and end on July 25 while the last day for submission of names of candidates is July 28.

Honorable Chijioke Ugwueze, the lawmaker representing Isi-Uzo Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, has died.

Ugwueze, 49, died on Friday, June 19 after suffering a heart failure.

According to family sources, the late Ugwueze who was hypertensive, woke up on Friday morning complaining he had malaria symptoms. He was rushed to a private hospital in Enugu and was later transferred to Enugu state Teaching Hospital Parklane, where he died in the evening.

Until his death, late Ugwueze was the chairman of the House Committee on Transport.

His death comes three days after the death of the Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area, Chief Patrick Omeje.

May his soul rest in peace, Amen.

Former Arsenal coach, Arsene Wenger has distanced himself from rumours that he could return to Arsenal to take up the vacant role as club chairman.

The retirement of Sir Chips Keswick at the end of May after 15 years as Chairman means the club is without a chairman heading into the resumption of the 2019/20 season next week.

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown, who spent eight years playing for Wenger, urged the club to appoint Wenger as chairman saying the Frenchman's return to the club at boardroom level would be 'special'.

Keown told talkSPORT: 'It would be something special to see Arsene Wenger come onto the board.

'I don't think so somehow, I think he's said recently he doesn't want to do that, never saw himself as someone who would sit on the board, but they could do a lot worse.

'I feel that would be almost the perfect answer for [Stan] Kroenke, the young Josh Kroenke, he needs that older person perhaps around, someone with the experience.

'Other people would think that it would be intimidating for [Mikel] Arteta - I don't think so.

'If you're a successful-type personality, you don't really mind who else is in the building. You embrace that knowledge that could come in through the door.

Now Wenger, at 70, has dismissed the rumor. In a one sentence reply, Wenger told beINSports: 'The candidate says there is no candidate.'

The Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 23-year-old man identified as [url]Badmus Quadri[/url], for allegedly defiling one of his neighbor’s three-year-old daughter.

It was gathered that the suspect was arrested on Thursday, June 11,2020, following a complaint by the mother of the victim who reported the shocking incident at Owode Egbado police station.

The mother had returned from the market when she saw blood in her daughter’s private part. While interrogating her daughter, the little girl revealed that it was Quadri who took her into his room and had carnal knowledge of her.

BBNaija star, Khafi Kareem, is presently mourning the death of her younger brother, Alexander, who was attacked in west London on Monday, June 8.

Alexander, 20, was shot close to his family house in Shepherd’s Bush, West London. He was said to have been walking back home from a convenience store when he was shot by a yet-to-be-identified person in the early hours of Monday.

Witnesses say he screamed out “help me” as he lay dying in the street at 12.40am.

Heroic passers-by tried to give him CPR before paramedics reached the scene but Alexander was pronounced dead a short time after.

A post-mortem conducted on him showed he died from gunshot wounds to his chest and abdomen.

UK Police are appealing for information about a white Range Rover driven by his killers. Det Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley said:
“We are determined to bring those responsible for this unnecessary and terrifying violence to justice. We continue to appeal for witnesses who may have seen or heard what happened to come forward. The white Range Rover seen in the area and later found burned out is also a key part of the investigation.”Jolley said.
