Operatives of the Abuja Head Office of EFCC have apprehended seven internet fraudsters at the Sunshine Estate, Gwarinpa

They are: Asuquo Happiness, Agboje Lucky, Emmanuel Ochuko Okume, Lucky Ijire, Karo Ijire, Chinaka Chijoke Promise and Ibrahim Adiat.

The suspects, who were arrested on June 11, 2019, had in their possession a Toyota Camry 2018 and a Toyota Corolla, as well as mobile phones.

Investigations into their nefarious activities, which spanned months, revealed that they specialized in stealing people’s identities on social media, particularly FaceBook and Instagram.

They then use the stolen identities to create fake profiles, using same to establish fraudulent relationships, with the aim of defrauding their victims.

Some of the aliases used to perpetrate online fraud, include, James Bord, Tom Clanson, Paul Hanson, Clinton Maher, Richard Jordan and David Morgan.

One of them uses phishing as his modus operandi where he sends out bulk messages and malware with viruses, which when the target clicks on the message, they are able to gain access into their victim’s information.

Another claims he goes to the “dark web” to buy hacked logins to look for any business transaction and double cross the transaction using another account.

One of the suspects confessed to creating over 20 social media accounts. They further confessed to having at various times made $5,479, $4,900, $1,500, $2,500, $7,000, $27,000, which were received through Western Union, Bitcoin, exchangers, and through Nigerians based outside the country, who have offshore accounts.

An officer of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency, (LASTMA) was on Sunday crushed to death by a trailer.

NAIRAFAME reports that the incident happened at the Apapa area on Lagos, during the evening hours of Sunday while the officer identified as Arogundade Remilekun was on her duty post controlling the traffic situation in the area.

Remilekun until her death was attached to the LASTMA station base in Apapa Zone 36.

Remilekun was at the back of the truck when the truck reversed without her knowledge as she didn’t see the reversing truck.

While confirming the report, the spokesperson, LASTMA, Mamud Hassan when contacted, said that the trailer driver fled the scene and abandoned his vehicle which had since been impounded by the Police.

Hassan said that Remilekun was controlling traffic when the trailer reversed and crushed her to death.

He said the driver of the trailer fled the scene and abandoned the vehicle. She was survived by a husband who worked in one of the Local Governments in Lagos and a grandmother

The remains of the deceased had since been deposited in the Lagos Island General Hospital morgue.

Hassan quoted the LASTMA General Manager, Olawale Musa as saying that the authority would not relent in carrying out its assigned duties in Lagos.

While commiserating with the deceased, Musa appealed to tankers to re-certify their vehicles before putting them on the road to avert tragedies.

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command says it has apprehended over 10 suspected traffic robbers and recovery of firearms and ammunition in different parts of Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city.

The state police command made this known in a statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Bala Elkana who said that the surveillance Patrol strategy introduced by the Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu targeted towards tackling the menace of traffic robbery in Lagos State led to the arrest of the suspects.

According to him, on 24th May, 2019 at about 0530hrs, the surveillance Patrol team from Ketu Police Station, foiled a robbery attempt at Kosofe bus stop.

His statement obtained by Nairafame reads;
“The leader of the gang, popularly known as Gabazine and two other members were arrested. One Samsung phone snatched from a victim was recovered and handed over to the owner. On 25th May, 2019 the same surveillance team on undercover operation at the same spot arrested two traffic robbery suspects attempting to rob some unsuspecting road user. Two jack Knives and a toy pistol were recovered.

“On the same date at about 0005hrs, surveillance Patrol team deployed to Ketu bus stop, arrested two traffic robbery suspects, namely: Ayomide Ayobami and Taye Onofowokan, both living at Agboyi Ketu. One pistol with three live ammunition and a jack knife were recovered from them.

“On the same date at about 0100hrs, surveillance Patrol team attached to Festac Police Station arrested one Bamidele Ogunbanjo, 30, of Prayer Estate, Amuwo Odofin. One locally made pistol with one live ammunition were recovered. Investigation is ongoing and all the suspects will be charged to Court,” he said.
