Yes you are right, but in most cases with the evolution of new languages, it involves a group of native speakers breaking away from the mother area and evolving new features either by interraction with others or isolation.
******* In the case of Swahili, it was somewhat the same. Just that another entirely different mix of genes, cultures and lifestyles came into the gene pool.
Arabs have already evolved a more advanced trade system than East African Bantus and this was the factor that mobilized the spread of the language all around the coasts and the hinterlands.
~~~~~ So, there is absolutely no way we can absolve Arab influence and contribution from the identity and spread of swahili, it's just impossible. It was a joint Bantu-Arab affair.

I thought Swahili originated all along the coasts of both Kenya & Tanzania at once?

I think this is the exact case with Kazikazi. Many Tanzanians seem to have been subsumed by swahili language and culture, to the extent that they now see themselves as part of it. Going by this, don't you think they should be able to claim swahili nativity? Thanks.

A white dude can come in the coastal of east Africa and see some dudes who don't speak any tribal language but Swahili.He will arose and say Swahili is a tribe! Is a big tribe! He then writes his articles online and people will swallow that..

You too can go in west Africa and see the guys who speaks pidgin.Just come back and say pidgin is a tribe! Its a big tribe!

Friend,If we use DNA no one has Swahili DNA.All results will show all these Swahilis are from either Arab or some African Bantu tribes.Its the same case if we do to pidgin speakers.

From my conclusion, I think Swahili is just a hybrid identity. It hasn't evolved for long.

1. The authors of Swahili dictionaries are searching for new words and after meeting a criteria its then added into a dictionary. So your american master never cause a word safari to be a Swahili word.The word was used for centuries before a guy arrived in Kenya.Actually a word safari in Swahili means a journey.American dude just think it only means wild game viewing trip only.

2.I am a Swahili.All those guys in Kenya whom you call waswahili are Swahilis just because of speaking.They are natural born speakers.Swahili is a mixture of different languages. All those guys who started speaking were from all different tribes.

3.When I say Swahili is my mother tongue it hurts you.You think I am proud.No.I just explain who I am.a mother tongue is your first language,it can be your tribal language or not.

4.Yes I have a tribe.My fathers tribe.That's my DNA.I am a swahili too.Swallow that!

FYI..All these people called Swahilis have their lineages.Their fathers are from tribes.Since when did they stop their lineages and starting a new tribe called Swahili? If we use DNA we won't get a single person with DNA of Swahili.All these Swahilis will have Arab DNA or African tribal DNA.In such case we will be correct to say Swahili isn't a tribe,isn't a race but a language formed by mixing different languages.
