forgiveness: The first skyscraper in Ibadan was built in 1965 with the height of 105 meters while the first and second skyscrapers in Nairob were built in 1973 and 1974 with the height of 105 meters and 103 meters respectively. Nairobi waited until 2000 before it add another skyscraper Times Tower, with the height of 140 meters.
Nairobi only had two as at 2000 while Ibadan had only one. Just one more than Ibadan. I waa there, right but Nairobi never had a dozen as at 80s and even now. The year 2000 - Nairobi. 1. Times Tower - 140m 2. Teleposta Tower - 120m 3. KICC - 105m 4. NSSF - 103m Current (complete and topped out buildings) 1. Britam tower - 200m 2. UAP tower - 163m 3. Times Tower - 140m 4. Prism tower - 133m 5. LeMac Tower - 126m 6. Teleposta tower - 120m 7. KICC - 105m 8. NSSF Building - 103m 9. I&M Building - 100m 10. KCB Tower - 100m Current (complete, topped out and under construction) 1. Jabavu/Hass Tower 1 - 300m 2. Jabavu/Hass Tower 2 - 201m 3. Britam Tower - 200m 4. Hazina Tower - 180m 5. Avic Office Tower - 176m 6. UAP Tower - 163m 7. Avic Hotel tower - 141m 8. Times Tower - 140m 9. Prism Tower - 133m 10. LeMac Tower 126m 11. Parliament Tower - 120m 12. Teleposta Tower - 120m 13. highheybee: Hmmmm...do you know that they call family planning...the higher the number of your Children the harder it is to cater for them....we gained independence in 60 and you got yours 63 and you saying thrash that we should be four times developed than you are...give a family of four 5$ and a family of twenty the same amount, obviously the four will live better but in this case it's the other way round...we have developed industrially way more than you.... people should really think before posting stuffs...four times my foot....you talking about malls...so from your thinking...China should be over 20times developed than south Korea...or what are you spitting
Are some people for real Your point holds water only in a case where the provider is one person. For instance if you are a father, taking care of 3 children is easier than ten. But we are talking about countries - Kenya and Nigeria have similar family sizes. As much as Kenya may have fewer dependents, it also has fewer providers. Look at it this way - a family of five where one is a provider and four dependents may be better than a family of 20 with 1 provider and 19 dependents but it is no different from a family of 20 with 4 providers and 16 dependents. I hope you understand what I mean. |

forgiveness: You are very funny ooooooo. I thought you would have shown me a building with its actual height but you are showing me a cleared area with no structure and a render, after considering what you said below.
I also have a photo of the render of the tallest building in Africa and website to make enquires. It is 308 meters with 74 stories.
http://www.centenarycity.com/africa-tower.html
The first picture shows that the buildings you are talking about are still planned and others are still under constructions. The second picture used colors to indicate the stages of a building.
The third building is the render of the tallest building in Africa. Dude, Hass tower is actually UNDER construction. Your Abuja tower is simply a proposal more like The One Tower in Nairobi. Many proposed structures actually never get built. I asked for an actual structure under construction. I showed you the foundation excavation of Hass Tower. Please don't just argue for the sake of arguing - there are numerous proposed mega towers in Nairobi but I won't talk about them because they're mere proposals. Again, your proposed structures still is not as tall as Hass towers. See, the first time you gave me Eko Atlantic (no specific building). I told you to give me a specific building since I know the tallest building under construction in Eko is 135m. Now you giving me a proposal that is not under construction. Can you show me the construction site of that render buddy? I follow structures under construction very well and there's no such tower under construction in Abuja. The WTC in Abuja at 37 floors may rise to over 100m but they won't even beat the current tallest structures in Nairobi so they don't even prove your point that Nigeria has taller buildings than Kenya. Meanwhile the third picture is a NON EXISTENT building. It was just a proposal on paper and that's all. If we were all to count proposals on papers Nairobi would be having buildings over 500m. |

Jabavu/Hass towers Tower 1 - 66 floors, 300m Tower 2 - 40 floors 201m Second photo is the render of the building. The first photo is the foundation of the building under construction in Upper Hill, Nairobi.

Imagine all African flooding to Europe, Asia and America because of that for holiday.
What stops Nigerian to visit Nairobi for holiday or Kenyans from visiting Calabar for holiday?
We just go to Europe to waste money.
I will convince one of my Aunties to try Nairobi for holiday instead of wasting money to America and London every year.
Make Kenyans self promote us ooooooo. Thank you. i have been to Lagos briefly but I'll make time and money to visit Calabar, Enugu and Abuja too. We need to promote ourselves. |

forgiveness: I only saw Nairobi with Skyscrapers but that can't be said of other cities but in Nigeria we have three cities with Skyscrapers.
Any projects handled by private investors are sure banks. This one is already under construction.
If you go by that then the ones under constructions in Nairobi will not be counted.
I don't think I am ignorant about some cities in Africa but I don't know much about East Africa.

The picture below is the master plan for Abuja and constructions have already started. You're giving me planned cities and claiming them to be the tallest buildings under construction in Africa? Lol, please post me the actual building and it's height. The tallest building under construction in Africa is Jabavu/Hass tower in Nairobi at 300m. The tallest in Eko Atlantic under construction is only 135m. forgiveness: You might be right that I was shocked beyond repair that Kenya is not only about Nairobi and that there are other well planned and beautiful cities like Mombasa and Nakuru but truly truly we have a lot of developed cities.
It has become a competition to make sure a city is better than the others.
I have been to Duoala, Yaounde, Lome, Addisa baba (I wasn't impressed then), Cotonue and Accra. I can assuredly tell you that Lagos and Abuja are better than most of these cities.
They have one or two good cities and that's all though I don't know much about Ethiopia's cities.
Accra is beautiful and well organized but Lagos and Abuja are more developed than it.
We have good cities in the Northern part of Nigeria too.
We have well planned cities like Abuja, Calabar, Kaduna, Port Harcourt and Enugu. Although, I don't know much about the Northern part but I can assure you that they have planned cities too.
But when it comes to developed cities we have more than Kenya. These are the most developed cities arranged according to development. Though some Nigerians may not agree but it's just my own opinion. But the top 10 are assuredly developed. Mombasa may even be competiting with Port Harcourt.
1, Lagos 2, Abuja 3, Port Harcourt 4, Ibadan 5, Kano 6, Enugu 7, Calabar 8, Kaduna 9, Owerri 10, Uyo 11, Jos 12, Benin Etcetera I agree with you that you have more cities. But you should realize that's just because you have four times our population. In fact you should be having four times the number of cities we have (which is not the case) to be on the same level. See, India also has more cities than Germany - can you say India is more developed than Germany? Nigeria has more cities but Kenyan cities are better, more developed with better social amenities than Nigeria's. Cities like Kano are just big but no one (outside Kenya and Nigeria) would choose to live in Kano over Eldoret - trust me. Eldoret will offer him better quality services than Kano. |

forgiveness: The tallest buildings in Nairobi as at now 200 meters and 163 meters and they were just completed in 2016 and 2015 while Lagos tallest is160 meters and it was the 3rd tallest building in Africa. So, where did you get 8th tallest in Nairobi?
Below are the tallest building in Lagos which are over 100 meters. Most of them have been completed except Azuri which are still under construction.
We also have Cooperate towers 2 which is 37 stories and it is now under construction and with many more coming up.
The second picture is Eko pearl towers and third picture is Eko Towers. I am talking of both complete and under construction buildings for both cities. Lagos' tallest would be No. 8 in Nairobi. |

forgiveness: Nigeria is building 1,000 kilometers of Standard gauge from Lagos to Kano and another 1,402 kilometers Standard gauge from Lagos to Calabar.
Nigeria is building 5 seaports
Nigeria is restructuring 4 international airports.
Nigeria is building news dams
Lagos is building Mono rails
Lagos is building Eko Atlantic city on a sand filled sea. May skyscrapers are going up there.
Can you please list Kenya's infrastructures projects? Kenya is building over 2000km of standard gauge railway - From Mombasa through Nairobi to Malaba then from Nairobi to the Ethiopian border. The section from Mombasa to Nairobi is already done they are working on the Nairobi-Naivasha section.. Kenya is building taller skyscrapers than Nigeria including what will be Africa's tallest skyscraper - Jabavu tower. Kenya already has 4 international airports with 4 more planned. Kenya is also building new dams. Kenya has built the largest geothermal plant in Africa. Kenya has built wind power plants in Ngong with more under construction in Turkana and is slated to have the largest wind power plants in Africa. Kenya is building the LAPSSET project which includes Africa's biggest port in Lamu with a network of pipelines and Rail lines from it to all our neighbors. and several cities. |

forgiveness: Two roads, two bridges and a train.
Ibadan has all of the above. I need to know more. Good infrastructure is not just about bridges and trains. It is about the whole city and how suitable it is to live. One city may have several interchanges, Bridges, overpasses etc but most of its roads have potholes and open sewages everywhere.Another city may be simple with no grand roads and trains but all roads are smooth and well marked with a good sewerage system. Which city would you say has better infrastructure. |

A city is known for good reasons or bad reasons. In this case the cities I listed are known for good reasons.
When it comes to Skyscrapercity, I frequently visit that site and I think Nigeria has more skyscraper projects than Kenya.
You may prove me wrong. Luxembourg is not as known as Syria. That's my point. And no, Nigeria doesn't have more infrastructure projects than Kenya, maybe you only visit Nigeria's side of SSC. Visit Kenya's too. |

What are the infrastructures Nakuru has that Ibadan doesn't have? Which are these infrastructure you keep talking of? What is in Ibadan that's not in Nakuru? From Google maps Ibadan is just rusty roof and dusty roads. Meanwhile Nakuru has no unpaved roads. In terms of infrastructure and good roads and cleanliness Nakuru even beats Nairobi. Just tell me what Nakuru has and Ibadan don't have.
I wish I could know more about the infrastructures of Nakuru. Tomorrow I will post some pictures of Ibadan. The problem is in Ibadan you have to select the nicest places to get a good photo, in Nakuru I could drop you anywhere in the city and you would take a beautiful photo from there. Nakuru is clean with nice roads in all neighborhoods, good hotels, a national park nearby, a lake and it's beautiful. Nakuru also has no slums. |

forgiveness: No 1, you may be right if Kenya has continuous power supply.
2, Nigeria port is the 4th busiest and it is meant for only Nigerians while Kenya is the second busiest because it is used by four countries. Note; we have many ports and we are building 4 more ports.
3, you're right but we also have airlines privately owned by Nigerians and they ply Europe, Africa and America.
4, you are right, but we have two in top 20 Universities in Africa while Kenya has only one.
5, na God create dis one na, nobi Kenya na. I mean beaches. Please, give me a link to prove Kenya has one of the best hotels in Africa.
6, hmm! Lagos, Abuja, Calabar, Port Harcourt and Enugu are very beautiful cities. How many beautiful cities do you have? I will post pictures tomorrow. Nigeria has cities with highrise than Kenya.
7, 3. Kenya has several private airlines too - the airline Indian Kenya is generally more developed than in Nigeria. 4. False - Nigeria has only one university in the top twenty. University of Ibadan is number 19 and it does not always make it to top twenty.Sometimes Kenya's Kenyatta university and Strathmore university ranks ahead of Ibadan. See the list for yourself. http://www.webometrics.info/en/Ranking_africa5. You must be high on something to even compare Nigeria's beaches and hotels to Kenya's - I mean, that's what Kenya is known for. Do your research well. 6. Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisumu, Eldoret - check them out and compare their beauty with those Nigerian cities. 7. I'm sorry but you seem uninformed on this. Lagos is nowhere close to Nairobi in terms of high-rises. Your tallest building is NECOM House at 160m only and you have less than 5 buildings over 100m. Check out Nairobi's buildings over 100m complete and under construction below. 1. Jabavu/Hass tower 1 - 66floors 300m (U/C) 2. Jabavu/Hass tower 2 - 46floors 201m (U/C) 3. Britam tower 33floors 200m (TO) 4. Hazina tower 38floors 180m (U/C) 5. Avic office tower 45floors 176m (UC) 6. UAP tower 33 floors 163m (complete) 7. Avic Hotel tower 40floors 141m (U/C) 8. naijalander: What about this Standard article?
Nairobi: Kenyans Saturday woke up to a countrywide electricity blackout following a fault in Kenya Power’s main supply line. "This morning at 5.34am we experienced a technical hitch that led to tripping of our main supply line -Olkaria Nairobi 220KV line- consequently leading to a power outage in most parts of the country," said Kenya Power in a statement. Kenya Power in response to massive enquiries on its twitter handles said they were working to normalize operations as fast as they could. By 10.30am, electricity supply had been restored to some parts of the country. "We are glad to inform the public that power supply to the following areas has been restored: North Rift, west Kenya, South Nyanza, Kisii, Mt Kenya and parts of Central Rift,” said Kenya Power. Kenyans expressed their disappointment and inconveniences caused by the early morning outage, with some pointing at incompetencies at the power supplier.
