PoliticsRe: Tribute To Nigerian Military In Pictures by naliakar: 11:34am On Dec 02, 2009
are some of these equipment look WWII residual junk to me. The naval fleet especially. How modern and what is the maintenance trend? Can they stand a war against say Ghana's well trained army? I just wonder
Good pictures though.

*scratching my head* I don't get it Naliakar . . .

and @topic, how would our increased involvment in local politics be of any profit to the motherland? I know there are many many young people just like us back home, much smarter and more industrious. and I know oftentimes they frown at those coming from 'abroad' and telling them 'what to do'. Or is this no longer true?
Ooh! I mean "the Peoples Republic of Cambridge"

THE-AMAKA:
whatever!!!
first you said she looks villagish like it was a bad thing, you even said the picture aint her best. so how is the complimenting her?
basically you meant the her looking villagish in that pic = her looking bad, torn down, ect ect
anyway im done here, you know what you meant.
TA before you get outa here, do you know there is another Nollywood actor  who is female and who hardly looks villagish regardless the photo? Do you know her name? I really wish to know?

THE-AMAKA:
wow! a village girl?
whats wrong with them? ive seen a lot of hot village girls in my day and just cause they are in the village doesnt mean they arent hott.
ive seen some that have great style too. traditional wears and western wears.
bye bye!
Dont you see. Now you are talking and I agree with you full time. To say one looks villagish is not to denigrate that person but to point point out aspects of appearances. like you say the village has great beauties who in spite of their appearances, simple folk appearances, would drive many a man with their charm and beauty. So you see I was not taking away from Genny. I was adding one other element about her which attests to her versatility broad range of charming elements abi.

I think the poster is in a dilemma between but has in mind Rita Dominic, Mercy Johnson, and Tonto Dike

I would go with Tonto any time

i think you should read the first couple of comments you left on this thread and the ones now.
first you are playing a fake captain save a ho with genny and buttering her muffin and kissing her ass, now you wanna turn around and insult her.
dude, go and siddon.
No Amaka. You are getting it wrong. Genny is good but that picture ain't her best. I am still gung ho about Genny and to be frank with you, I have watched more of her movies than those of OMO. But this picture!!
It is just my impression of the way she looks in the picture.

please shut up.
youre such a tribal delusional hypocrite.
no one can talk about genny, blah blah blah, now youre talking crap.
then being tribal.
i mean are you forgetting to take your meds?
I just took my medicine. it is even worse looking at the picture now.
That picture ain't her best you must agree.
let me look for Omo's picture to restore my sanity.

Yvonne is the best IMO, she combines good looks with actual acting ABILITY. The rest cant really act IMO and are not particulary stunning. If you dont have one in abundance you damn sure better have the other lol.

Thats why i like people like Frances Duru and Nkiru Sylvanus, they are not pretty to look at but they can ACT well.
You are right. She has most of the qualities of Omotola. So she must be the best then.

Don't ever compare Omo to anyone else. You guys annoy me oo. I go get madoooo!
Omo does not deserve such a treatment.
CelebritiesRe: Omotola Jolade vs Stella Damasus-Aboderin by naliakar: 3:00am On Dec 01, 2009

CelebritiesRe: There Is Something About Genny: by naliakar(op): 1:21am On Nov 30, 2009
And the final point on this thread is that Genny is indeed a good actor. But a lot of what is good about her is hyped when she is in actual fact playing a second fiddle in acting at the expense of O. Even TA agrees.
CelebritiesRe: Omotola Is The Greatest Nollywood Celebrity Of All Times by naliakar(op): 1:17am On Nov 30, 2009
In conclusion then, Omo remains the top toast and no one is allowed to talk about any other Nollywood actor (female) in that regards: not Rita, Not Stephanie and Not Genny. OK?

I will be on the look out for any such talk.
Foreign AffairsSpeculation About Yaradua A Foreboding Sign For Nigerian Democracy by naliakar(op): 3:41am On Nov 29, 2009
It is strange and a bad sign, that Nigerians' capacity for political agency to change their leadership has been woefully reduced to wishing their current leader dead. Yaradua would be useful for Nigeria alive and witness to a peaceful transition in the next elections if lessons for posterity on how to change leadership are to be inculcated.

His predicament and the speculation thereupon is as much a Nigerian as well as a foreign political issue hence my desire to locate this thread here. besides, it is time Nigerian whose comfort in recluse diaspora locations actively engaged in local politics. Hear me Je soul , Tayo and the rest,
CelebritiesRe: There Is Something About Genny: by naliakar(op): 1:52am On Nov 29, 2009
Yes It is Nollywood, not Holywood. My Mistake.

CelebritiesRe: There Is Something About Genny: by naliakar(op): 1:21am On Nov 29, 2009
THE-AMAKA:
i get so tired of repeating myself.
yorubas have their own movies that are more cultured and they speak their own language.
same thing with hausa.
but as some people say, the igbo man means business. thats why they cut the production of igbo movies and started producing more english movies. thats why nollywood movies sell all over africa, the carribean, america (with large african communities) and europe as well.
its not that yorubas arent welcome or hausas arent welcome, i think they just choose to stick to their own, and some people say their movies are better.
why join nollywood when you probably have a better chance of getting a job in your own backyard?
Yet Hollywood would be nowhere without its top actors who are nearly all Yoruba:

Ramsey Nouah
Desmond Elliot
Hanks Anuku
Bimbo Akintola
Yemi
and of Course. Omo etc.

Remove these and there is no nollywood to speak of abi.

THE-AMAKA:
nollywood is dominated my igbos, yes.
75% sounds like a good number.
even 80% sef.
What is the reason for this considering that the Yoruba and the Hausa are arguably more in population than the Igbo and  that the Yoruba especially are arguably more (in numbers) educated.

Someone go kill me ooo!!

There lots of things to say about Genny's charm as a person and a celebrity. It has not even started yet.
Is it true that three quaters of Nollywood female actors, who have a semblance of beauty, come from the South East? And that as a native of Mbaise, Genny is naturaly predisposed to exude great charm?
Yes! Mbaise origins is a nother thing making Genny charm,

I like the part in Igbo though, hilarious!!! she can't sing but there's something about that song sha, I dunno what but I like the song.  tongue
THE-AMAKA:
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
i hated nnaji for doing that horrible music!!
gosh, it was a stupid song.
please remove that link and save genny the embarassment.
You guys aren't serious. That song almost earned Genny an Emmy nomination? And that is no mean achievement.
The girl rocked and it is one of the things about Genny that makes her tick.
Leave the wet blankets alone.

TV/MoviesRe: Nollywood Fuels Anger In Kenya by naliakar: 8:03pm On Nov 27, 2009
Considering the nature of Nigeria's second goal which even die hard Eagles fans admit was fishy and an even fishy penalty that lead to Mozambique's win over Tunisia, those Kenyan fans had reason to be angry. Nollywwod fueled this by depicting endless scenes of manipulation of reality through those red clothed, one eye chalk painted spiritualists sitting under trees in 9ja movies.

Oh thank you, and i have checked some hotels online myself and most of them are offering airport pick up service , but the problem is bookiing the room cos most of them accept credit cards which i dont have embarassed
That shouldn't be a big problem. Just place a call and make a reservation. I am sure if the season is relaxed and I bet it is, they will always reserve a room provided you are sure about the date and time. You could use your debit card instead or get a prepaid Visa card from Walmart if you are in the US.

Now you watch SOUL PROVIDER (2009) starring Omotola and Richard Mofe Damijo and tell me what you think. It goes into my annals as one of the best Nollywood movies ever made. I would love to get your review of this movie.

@mwanamwiwa: please whats the cheapest standard hotel i can find in Nairobi and not too far from the airport? with or without internet access , i will be glad if you can help me.
Though addressed to Mwanamwiwa, let me flaunt my knowledge of nairobi a bit.

There is a strong possibility that you will have to get to the city center to find such a hotel and they are many within the city which is about 15 mile from the airport. That leaves Panari Hotel which is closest to the airport but way over the top in terms of price. But if your proximity to the airport is the worry, do not bother about it because the shuttles to the airport from city center are numerous and reliable (30 minutes) Right Mwanamwiwa.
CelebritiesRe: There Is Something About Genny: by naliakar(op): 4:51pm On Nov 27, 2009
Just finished watching it. You see what makes Genny great. She was able to interpret the Ashawo character pretty well without going over the top. I like her speaking pidgin very well. That is my girl (the movie has a strong Ghanaian streak)

Now This movie makes me keep wondering whether all Ashawos in Nigeria have little or no education and must always speak in that dialect. Or could it be that to be a successful Ashawo, one must master the language of trade

Just found it with koolchico's youtube site. will watch it.

Arodrive2 is pretty good, crystal clear and the movie plays in parts of at least 45 minutes. It is free too.

Just checked Arodrive2.com and Bunibuni.com where I watch most of my 9ja movies but it does not show up on these two. Is it on youtube?

I like Kate's Show Me Heaven. She, Olu and Jim acted brilliantly in that movie. It remains by far one of the best realistic movies to have come out of Nollywood and Chidi Tchikere's Handiwork
