Following the recent shocking revelation of #sexforgrades going on in Nigerian university by BBC, wife of Ekiti state governor, Bisi Fayemi, has also revealed that she faced s#xual harassment while she was a university student.

Mrs Fayemi made this revelation on Monday during the premiering of #SexForGrade, an hour-long documentary exposing randy lecturers in some universities in Nigeria and Ghana. According to her, it is troubling some of these lecturers have a culture of entitlement to the bodies of the girls.

I cried because what these young women have to experience is the story of many of us who passed through higher institutions in this country,” she said.
“I was educated here in Nigeria and I too was a victim of sexual harassment during my university days. I was luckier than these victims. It didn’t go that far but it was extremely unpleasant and of course, back in the days when all these things happened you can’t tell anyone because if you do even up till now people ask you to keep shut.

"You know people don’t talk about things like this. I was watching the documentary and there were three words that came to me, one is a voice, it is time to speak up and speak out and for those who do we need to stand with them and stand by them and not silence them because the culture of silence has endured enough.

"Another word that came to me was accountability, we need to be accountable whether there are parents, guidance or teachers or leaders in any form throughout the different sections of society. We have to be accountable for the well being and health of the young people in our care, from when our children come to say, mummy, uncle so so and so touched me and instead of asking further to find out what’s its all about, we should act.

"There has to be accountability and the third thing that came to mind was justice, justice for victim or I choose to call them survivors and so those of us who have worked in the women’s whether at international level or Africa or national air in Nigeria, we know that we have many law and policies in place that are supposed to guard against things such as this but this law sometimes means very little because there is inadequate political.

Nollywood actress, Sylvia Ukaatu, in a chat with Sunnewsonline has revealed her only regret in life, saying she took a blood oath with a former lover when she was just 18.

According to her, every attempt she made to marry was all to no avail, the suitors keep disappearing on the day of the introduction.
She said the reason she revealed the story to the public is for the youth to learn from her experience. Her words:

It all started when I was 18 years old. I fell in love, deeply in love. I was so carried away at that tender age. I was lured into taking a blood oath with my then-lover...

I never knew the repercussions behind such move. I was young, naive and in love. We played along. I was happy. I was eager to settle down. Then love became sour. I tried to walk away. .

I begged to be freed but the guy refused, so I kept to myself and started living life to the fullest. Even when he travelled out of the country, I had so many failed relationships without knowing what was behind it.

Suitors were coming, but on the day of introduction, they would cancel without explanation. I waited for many years for him to come back. But he never did. I desperately wanted to start a family, but that wasn’t forthcoming. .

I tried so many relationships but they all failed. The guy finally came back last year and we spoke at length. I told him we should break the oath if he’s no longer interested in marrying me, but he ignored me.

Then, a few months ago, my brother called me and said I should go and search for my fiancé on Facebook, that the guy just got married. I quickly rushed to Facebook and checked...

I was shocked to discover that truly he just got married, but I laughed it over. Now, I can still feel the pains deep inside my heart. I want to warn the young ones out there...

Love is not enough for a blood oath. The guy deceived and used me. I ignorantly allowed myself to be caged for years. Let the youths learn from my experience.
