@ OP, your generalization is not correct.
You may be right to say most Nigerian women you have come across neither drink nor smoke, but to generalise this is going a bit too far, because the truth is that there exist a fair number of Nigerian women who drink and smoke. |

Well, definitely not a Must-have.
However, they could look really nice, if combined well enough with one's outfit. |

Ndipe: The dipo rites of Ghana, where young girls, prior to being marriage are made to vouch for their virginity in a fetish ceremony. The ones who are not virgins or are pregnant are subsequently ostracized in the community. It was started according to what I read in the 11th century and the fetish ceremony is still held among the Krobo ethnic group.
I first read about this ceremony in the novel, "Harvest of Love" by Sam Aryeetey. This is rather kinda mean. So what then happens to the men who disvirgined these women?
In any case, I am certain once a girl sleeps with a guy before marriage, she already knows her fate. But come to think of it, I am sure a rape situation in this society could possibly lead to annihilation. |

Krahn tribe in Liberia that used to (perhaps still does) eat the hearts of other ppl as a war sacrifice okay, i want to beleive this was practiced in the last century. the nomadic tribe from west africa that travels the Sahara where the men are the ones who wear make up and the women get to choose who they want for a mate. (hilarious ) i forgot their name tho. lol, please do try to remember the name. This sounds so funny. I can imagine the women sizing the men up, and then the men try so much to impress the women, in order to be married. lmao
will think of more, if i can remember please do o, and the tribe as well |

missobeza: Nope. In Africa, that is considered as Inbreeding. Goldieluks: Inbreeding is not practice in Nigeria,as far as i can tell. well, i think its permitted in the islamic religion (i stand corrrected). And we are well aware that the muslims dominate the northern part of Nigeria.
gacha: In The Gambia, cousin are allowed to get married infact its encouraged ! Yes, and i would say this is because Gambia is practically an Islamic country.
@ OP, I hope you get my point? |

drious: ^^^I do and i guess its a yes after-all,i called and she responded oddly, like what again kind of response,i just ignored that, asked bout her day,familly,e.t.c she replied, and i asked for the question and she refused saying when ever she tells me dat would be the last day we'll talk, well i asked why,and she said when the day comes, anyhow she then cut the phone and i called again, this happened like for 3 times, the 4th user was busy, when she eventually picked i asked who she was talking to and she responded unusually with why do you want to know and i said sorry, she was silent again for sometime and i asked her wats wrong, she replied nothing and i said you sound really dull, well bye,and she cut the phone.(instead of the bye back,i love you, sleep well stuff) well am not calling her again shaaa well, she is not going about all this in the right manner. You have tried from your own end. But then again, the signs are there.
I suggest you give her a break(if you can handle it). Do not call her for a little while, lets see if she would call.
By the way, did you guys have a misunderstanding or something? Because it's really strange to just start this behaviour, just like that. |

If we plan to settle down together, then it becomes more complicated, as most times, step children make it hard for the wife. (my thoughts) |

Ndipe: The one that I heard which was scary and practised in the past was a potential groom being flogged by the relatives of the bride before giving her out to him. If he cried from the strokes of the cane, end of the manner, he is sent home without the bride. It was practised in the Northern part of Nigeria. Yeah, i have heard of this one too, scary and strange at the same time. But it seems it is kinda common in the north
Pweety4me: Hmm what does that signify?is this the test of how 'Manly' or strong he is? lol, just a test of his strength i guess , marriage is not for the faint-hearted. That might be the message they are trying to pass along. Who knows? |
