At times, a simple smile or nod of the head is good enough.
If it is just a pass and go type of thing btn your guy and them then simply saying
"hi/hello" or nodding your head to them is fine enough. If they stop and talk then
that is different. You may not need to chime into the conversation but you could
say 'hello'. At the end of the day it's just as KGDavid said "it depends on you". Simple.
