President Muhammadu Buhari Thursday in Abuja explained that the policy proposed by Federal Government in response to the frequent clashes between herdsmen and farmers in the country is not meant to colonize any part of the country. Receiving Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) led by Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama, President Buhari said the intention of government is to create grazing locations for cattle rearers, which has now been misconstrued as another form of colonization. President Buhari regretted that the well-thought out policy of the Federal Government, which was conceived after wide consultations with stakeholders, had been largely misunderstood by a section of the public. He, however, assured the Catholic Bishops that the Federal Government will continue to explore all opportunities and support initiatives to ensure peace and stability in restive areas. Condemning recent spate of killings in Benue, Adamawa, Taraba, and Zamfara states, the President said security operatives would ensure prosecution of perpetrators and all those found with illegal arms in the affected areas. ‘‘The impression created that I was sitting in an air-conditioned office and home, enjoying myself while these things happened, is dishonest. ‘‘At every step, I have tried to foresee these problems because I have the experience as a former military officer who commanded three out of the four divisions of the Nigerian army, in Lagos, Ibadan and Jos. ‘‘I am quite aware of the problems we have and I am doing my best to get law enforcement agencies to be on alert,’’ he said. The President told the Catholic Bishops that he would not be tired of recounting remarkable progress recorded in the areas of security, economy and the fight against corruption. ‘‘We have done very well on security in the North East, when you compare what the condition was before we came in and what it is now. ‘‘On the economy, particularly agriculture, I am very pleased that God answered the prayers of Nigerians who prayed for bountiful harvest. ‘‘People have taken advantage of Federal Government policies and programmes to return to the farm and they have not regretted,’’ he said. On the fight against corruption, the President reiterated that government would be guided by the law in the investigation and prosecution of all graft-related cases. ‘‘People are being prosecuted systematically with evidence. ‘‘If a permanent secretary has five houses in Abuja, two in Kaduna and one in Borno and Sokoto and he can’t account for the properties and there are bank transactions linking him to the properties, the prosecuting agencies will not have difficulties to make progress on the case." On the question of Federal character, the President declared that no ethnic group or political zone has been deliberately marginalised in the appointments made so far. He, however, added that he would take a second look at areas on which issues have been raised, when a compendium of all government appointments is submitted to him. In his remarks, Archbishop Kaigama pledged that the Catholic Church in Nigeria would continue to support the Buhari administration and make its contribution to nation-building through prayers, admonitions and assistance to needy Nigerians. ‘‘As the voice of the people, we shall continue to highlight the plight of our people and play our prophetic role of sensitising the government, thus promoting good governance, national unity and cohesion,’’ Kaigama said. http://www.spynigeria.ng/2018/02/i-am-not-planning-to-re-colonize-you.html |

Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Executive Governor Of Ogun State may not be finding it funny presently as report according to global excellence magazine suggests that most of his political allies may have turned their back against his style of governance. Despite huge attention being given to infrastructural development in some part of the state, many of his followers seem not to be in tandem with the way the governor is treating them. Led by a former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Tunji Egbetokun, feelers indicate that the governor has since lost commitment of most of the politicians that backed his governorship ambition in 2011. Many of them have now been moving to the camps of other politicians who are not in the governor’s good book. The ambition of the senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District, Olamilekan Solomon Adeola has made matters worst. https://spynigeria.ng/2017/11/08/ogun-7-of-governor-amosuns-trusted-aides-decamps-to-sen-yayis-camp/ |

A minister in the President Muhammadu Buhari’s kitchen cabinet, like the biblical King Solomon, must be very wise to have known a thing or two to arrive at the state of having more than the required four wives being a Muslim. He presently has under his roof ten women as wives. To the bearded minister from a key Southwest State, the agreeable ‘four women to a Muslim man’ arrangement, is just not natural. As our source stated, the minister who is presently eyeing the governorship seat of his state, came into the two-year old government with five wives, and within his first year alone, he took three more while he took in two more women this year, 2017. The source who is a confidant of one of the new women said four of these new wives are domiciled in Abuja, two in the North and the first four in the Southwest with the oldest wife traversing Abuja and the minister’s home country. Meanwhile, the governorship ambition of the minister, an APC man who came in from the president’s party, was said to have suffered a setback at the moment. His supporters, we were told, have dumped him to join his opponent in the APC, allegedly because he was found to be ‘super glue’. http://spynigeria.com/2017/06/02/exclusive-meet-buharis-minister-who-has-10-wives/ |
Hajiya Turai Umaru Musa Yar’adua has revealed how her husband, former President Umaru Musa Yar’adua once told her that his relatives would quarrel with her after his death as they would think he had left so much money. The former first lady who spoke at a memorial lecture in honour of the late president in Katsina at the weekend, also said “the late Yar’adua was not a materialist leader who believed in accumulating wealth. In fact, he shunned material things as his slogan was service to humanity. “There was a time he said to me that ‘Turai, I pity you because when I die you will have quarrels with my relatives because they will think I have so much money in my possession”, she said. She said the situation in Nigeria would have been better had the late president survived his ailment because he was a “focused, committed and determined leader”. “Although my husband was sick for a long time he did his very best for Nigeria. Also as governor of Katsina State, he did his best for the state; he is an honest man who believed in service”, she said. Extolling his virtues as a leader, Turai said the late President would not give out contract without having the money to pay for it. “There was a time I approached him that people are complaining that the government was slow. But he said to me people can say whatever they like but I will not give out contract if I have no money to pay. “The late Umaru was a kind of leader that would go out and monitor projects. I could recall when I used to join him to supervise the projects at Umaru Musa ‘Yar’adua University, Turai ‘Yar’adua Hospital and the roads,” she said. http://spynigeria.com/2017/05/03/what-my-husband-told-me-about-nigeria-before-his-death-turai-yaradua/ |

Some repatriated Nigerian inmates have called on President Muhammadu Buhari as a matter of urgency to mandate the Nigerian Prisons Service to stop their unjustified incarceration and honour the agreement it signed with Thailand government before they were repatriated. In a statement personally sent to SPYNigeria.com, a Facebook user, Kingsley Chikwubuike said that the Nigerians Prisons Service has reneged from the treaty between governments of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and that of the royal kingdom of Thailand before the inmates were repatriated to Nigeria. He said: “We, Nigeria inmates repatriated from Thailand prisons hereby plead for your intervention in our continued incarceration here in Nigeria, many years after repatriation from Thailand. “We have all served the mandatory 6-9 years in Thailand prisons before being brought back here on treaty between governments of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and that of the royal kingdom of Thailand. “Sir, before filling out the voluntary repatriation forms, we were told that, like other batches repatriated before us, we would be released after 12 months rehabilitation. We were also made to believe that the whole aim of the treaty is to give offenders a second chance. Read more: “Sir, before filling out the voluntary repatriation forms, we were told that, like other batches repatriated before us, we would be released after 12 months rehabilitation. We were also made to believe that the whole aim of the treaty is to give offenders a second chance. “It was based on these convictions that our families paid the sum of us$ 1200 (one thousand two hundred dollars) for each inmate to cover the cost of flight tickets and other expenses. “These payments were made to Nigeria embassy in Thailand and receipts were issued. However, sir, on getting to Nigeria, the story changed. The prison services said we were brought back to serve out sentences imposed by Thailand government. “We agreed, but periodic reduction of sentences approved and implemented by Thailand government have never been effected in our cases, while most of our colleagues and casemates that declined the treaty offer, have all been released. “Some of them have even visited us here in Nigerian prison. We have complained severally to the prison headquarters, some royal fathers including HRM Oba Tejuosho has appealed to the previous administration and also to the present leadership and yet nothing. “The prison services seem intent on frustrating any effort we make towards regaining our freedom. They always claim that Thailand authorities protested against early release of repatriated Nigerians because some of those released inmates went back to Thailand and committed same offences. “Sir, while it may be true that few of the released inmates went back to Thailand because they have wives and children over there, but the main problem was that Nigeria’s foreign mission did not provide answers to two questions asked by Thailand authorities in a letter sent to our foreign ministry through the Nigeria embassy in the year 2010. The questions are as quoted “(1) how do you rehabilitate inmates taken back to your country, (2) how do we treat cases of those who came back to Thailand and commit same offence.” these questions were never answered and the embassy said the foreign ministry never replied the letter. He further stated:”Sir, contrary to reasons being given by Nigeria prison services, Thailand authorities only sought clarification on Nigeria government policy towards repatriated inmates, and not protest against early release. The Nigerian prison authorities always claim that it is Thailand that sentenced us, but whenever we raise the issue of remissions/reduction of sentences approved by Thailand, they will turn round to say that we don’t have any business with Thailand anymore. “Sir, it is our understanding that we are serving sentences imposed by Thailand authorities, but if we are not entitled to amnesty/pardon and sentence reduction by Thailand government, then whose sentence are we serving?. “Sir, we are confused and our families have almost given up on us. Some of us were repatriated since 2007. Please come to our rescue. We are grateful as we hope and pray you will respond to our pleas. He believes he has faced enough embarassment and persecution from them after his investments to help the party wrest power from the PDP, ” our source said. But sources familiar with the Saraki travails told this Newspaper that he met with the Sultan of sokoto to prevail on President Mohammadu Buhari to pull back his loyalists are who bent on sending Saraki to jail. And as a last ditch effort, he got former senate presidents to visit Buhari earlier in the week. Saraki’s defection back to the PDP will not come as a surprise to watchers of Nigerian politics. The story was shared by her cousin on Facebook: It was on a faithful day, January 19th when she was lured into rendering assistance to her security guard who claimed to be preparing for his wedding. He asked her to help him plan his wedding, claiming to have N200k. While she had accepted to help, the guard asked that she followed him to the venue for the reception in order to sign a guarantor’s form, in the event that in the course of the reception, something goes wrong with the facilities. And off they went to the nonexistent reception venue. Unknown to her, it was a trap. She was to be used as a people bait to force her husband to part with some money. She had been kidnapped! The wicked guard and his five man gang tortured her as she fought hard to resist being tied up. They so beat her that when she became weak, they got her tied up and called in an elderly untrained nurse to inject with some kind of anaesthesia. From the forced sleep, to a forced death. Death so cheap! The assailants eventually took her to the hospital, hoping that she was not dead. But, truly, she was dead. Then the hospital management arrested the quack nurse and the guard. The rest is story. She rose from abject poverty to wealth From the slums of Lagos to the high brow Gowon Estate in Lagos. Death so cruel. A husband, a mother, four children and siblings awaiting her return. But she died while fasting. She died while showing kindness. Oh Death! why so cruel? Eby, Good night until we meet to part no more. May you find rest in the bosom of the Lord.
