PVCs collection moves to ward level Friday — INEC

5th January 2023

The Independent National Electoral Commission has said that the devolution of the Permanent Voter Cards to the wards will commence on Friday.

This was made known in a statement signed by the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, on Thursday.

The Commission noted that those who applied to replace lost, damaged, or defaced PVCs could collect their PVCs at the Registration Area/wards during this period.

According to the statement, the exercise will revert to the Local Government Offices of the Commission on January 15.

INEC, therefore, urged validly registered voters yet to collect their PVCs to seize the devolution opportunity to the wards to do so.

The statement read, “The devolution of PVC collection to the wards commences tomorrow 6th January 2023, and all validly registered voters who are yet to collect their PVCs are encouraged to seize the opportunity of the devolution to the wards to do so. After the 15th of January 2023, the exercise will revert to the local government offices of the Commission until 22nd January 2023. All eligible and valid registrants can collect their PVCs from 9.00am to 3.00pm daily, including Saturdays and Sundays.

“All those that applied for replacement of lost, damaged, or defaced PVCs can collect their PVCs at the Registration Area/wards during this period and the same thing applies to those that registered prior to the 2019 general election and are yet to collect their cards.

“The PVCs of those that applied for transfer are available for collection in the Local Governments and Registration Areas where they intend to vote and not in the State or Local Government where they carried out the transfer.

“The Commission appreciates the patience and understanding of Nigerians who trooped to our various local government offices to collect their PVCs. In making the cards available for collection, the Commission is also working to ensure that the process is simple and hitch-free for Nigerians.”

SP Benjamin Hundeyin @BenHundeyin

God bless the young man that took her to the hospital.

And for those who ignored her to ‘avoid police interrogation,’ you could at least have called the ambulance on 767. Or inform the police on phone, the numbers are out there.

Gathering to take pictures is ghoulish!

Emergency! This lady was knocked down by hit and run reckless driver on the Cross Over Night !!!

This happened at Igando and the people passing by thought she was dead ,left in the pool of her blood , they ran away from the scene to avoid interrogation from the police .

This happened around 12 midnight, she was later covered with a table .

The following morning , at 7am , people gathered to take videos and pictures of her thinking she was truly dead, A young boy noticed her finger moved and immediately stopped a maruwa to move her to the hospital

She is still unconscious but stable, she has been tested to be pregnant also .She was able to mutter her name as Ruka and hasn’t said anything again

This young Samaritan who carried her has called upon us to help save her . We visited and the state we met her is heartbreaking

While we want to rally round to get her ICU treatment as she has blood still running in her mouth and still placed at the corridor of a hospital , please kindly take a look well and identify her , also share to get her family notified of the state and condition she is .

Please help us as it is a race against time, we need to do something as soon as possible : please send donations.

Cairo,Sunday, February 18th, 1973

Santos (Brazil) 5-0 Al-Ahly (Egypt)

Pele scores twice.

Reuters Text:

“In Cairo, eighty-thousand football fans packed a stadium to see the legendary skills of Pele and his Santos teammates.

National Club of Egypt, wearing the dark shirts, kicked off in the match against their illustrious visitors at the weekend.

Santos were swiftly on the attack and Pele, wearing the number ten shirt, was looking to increase his world record tally of goals. Here he tested the Egyptian goalkeeper with a header.

The second half -- and the Egyptians mounted a counter attack. Their defence had stood firm and the first half had been goalless.
Edu put Santos ahead from a free kick a few minutes into the second half.
Then Pele split the defence to score a characteristic goal -- the eleven-hundred and sixty-first of his career. He was later to add a second. At the other end, although the Egyptians created several clear chances, they were unable to score.

Santos went on to add two more goals to complete a convincing five-nil victory over their Egyptian opponents.”

Twitter: Millions of users' email addresses 'stolen' in data hack

https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/976/cpsprodpb/1ECC/production/_128148870_twittermagnifyinggettyimages-1233346915.jpg

By Chris Vallance
BBC News

Data alleged to contain the email addresses of more than 200 million Twitter users is being given away for free on a hacker forum, reports say.

The stolen information includes email addresses used to set up accounts, which will worry anonymous users who registered with a sensitive address.

The BBC has not verified the data, and breaches often turn out to contain duplicate, old or fake information.

Twitter has not responded to requests for comment about the breach.

Alon Gal of cyber-crime information firm Hudson Rock, which spotted the leak, said it contained more than 200 million email addresses and was "significant".

Mr Gal told the BBC it would "unfortunately lead to a lot of accounts getting hacked, targeted with phishing, and doxxed".

Doxxing is the act of publishing personal information about someone that can lead to their identification.

The BBC has not downloaded the material, which has to be unlocked by using 20p worth of the forum credits.

Some form users have expressed their interest in the data, with one saying: "Thanks for your service cannot wait for the chaos."

Tech news website Bleeping Computer has downloaded the data and confirmed that the email addresses were correct for many of the listed Twitter profiles. It also found the data contained duplicates.

It reported: "The full dataset has obviously not been confirmed. The dataset is far from complete, as there were many users who were not found in the leak."

Another researcher suggested that many Twitter accounts feature many times, but the number of unique email addresses involved is still more than 100 million.

Already investigating

The news comes after a warning from from Hudson Rock last week about unverified claims by a hacker to have emails and phone numbers linked to 400 million Twitter accounts.

The hacker, Ryushi, demanded $200,000 (£168,000) from Twitter to hand over the data and delete it.

However, data currently offered online for free was posted by another individual, is smaller in size, and Mr Gal said, did not include phone numbers.

Analysis by Joe Tidy (cyber reporter)

As ever with giant database hacks, it's extremely hard to verify if the stolen details are legitimate.

Early indications are that at least some of the sample data the criminal is offering is real, and three Twitter users have confirmed to me that their leaked email addresses are real.

This is no doubt very concerning for them and others on the list, which could now potentially be in the cross-hairs of hackers and opportunists.

But the evolution of the hack could also be telling.

First we had claims of a massive breach and efforts to extort thousands of dollars from Twitter.

Now a haul of data is being given away for a measly 20p.

The leaked data could turn out to be a worthless amalgamation of previous breaches and fake details.

Twitter would know for sure, but so far the company (which has disbanded its media communications teams since Elon Musk's takeover) has refused to even acknowledge the situation.

Previous data scrapes of this kind have been routinely and swiftly downplayed by social media firms which have for years brushed them off as not serious security issues.

But the argument appears to be one that tech firms are losing, as Facebook's recent £230m fine for a 2021 scraping incident shows.

Following reports of Ryushi's claim, Ireland's Data Protection Commission (DPC) said it would "examine Twitter's compliance with data protection law in relation to the security issue".

The DPC is already investigating a breach of data in November, in which emails and phone numbers linked to more than five million accounts were leaked online.

Security experts believe the newly leaked data may have been accessed in a so-called scraping attack enabled by a flaw in a Twitter system.

This involved tricking a piece of software linked to Twitter called an API (application programming interface) into revealing hidden details about accounts.

The flaw was used in the November 2021 breach. Twitter said it had fixed it in January 2022.

Okorocha denies joining PDP, says I’m still in APC

Published on January 5, 2023
By Yemi Balogun

A former Governor of Imo State and Senator Representing the lmo West senatorial District, Rochas Okorocha, has denied dumping the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) contrary to reports in some sections of the media.

In a statement issued Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media, Sam Onwuemeodo, Okorocha said he has not joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Okorocha explained that on Friday, December 30, 2022, Kingsley Uju, representing Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta/Oru West Federal Constituency, buried his mother at Egbema and he only attended the event.

He noted that a burial ceremony could not have become a political declaration rally, insisting he was still in the APC.

The lawmaker described those behind the story as mischief makers.

Okorocha said: “Our attention had been drawn to a story, claiming that the former governor of lmo State has joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“We appeal that the general public disregard the story of Okorocha joining the PDP. lt is not true. The photographs attached to the false story are not evil since politics is not war. Nor a do-or-die venture.

“Our only concern was the virus some mischief makers tried to inject into the innocent photographs, taken at Uju’s mother’s burial, without malice or those involved being conscious of which political parties all those at the burial in question, belong.”

“Those behind this false story deliberately failed or refused to mention the venue and title of the event, where the photographs were taken. They could not also quote a portion of Okorocha’s speech that he must have made at the so-called event
.”

CutieKing:
I read through the analysis and I agreed with the factors he highlighted but his analysis was based on 100% voters turnout which we all know is not possible.
I think the highest we can get in term of turnout would be around 50%,so I will divide his figures by 2 to make my own final prediction.
Apc ....16.4M.
Pdp ....10M
Nnpp...3.4M
LP........4.7M
There are 2 totals. The first one is based on 100% turnout and the second is based on 35% turnout.
