The difference between what I am going to tell you now (which I said before) is implementation. Even the worse person who didn't come to Nigeria before and who doesn't know anything is still implementing what you people have been writing for 8 years, things would have changed.
I was telling them a story of General Abacha, how we were almost arrested for not paying duty. The port was congested, everything was. . . (under Abacha you clear goods faster than you clear it today).
So we were supposed to be under arrest because they said that we didn't pay duty. We didn't do anything. So we went to Abuja to see Abacha. We were 100, they said they were going to lock us up, so only 30 agreed to see him.
And when they said we should speak, I started talking. Halfway the man banged his table and said "Call Ali" (the minister) "From today, you see this boy who is talking"? (Which is me) "Chairman Tin Can".
Anyone that follows Esther Okoronkwo on social media would know that she's an entertainer. She does a lot of funny things.
For example, on one occasion she stuck thousand naira notes on a board and wrote "Take one if you love Satan" on the board and placed it on a street in Lagos. Some people came and took the money. One person said, "Jesus will understand".
In recent months she has been making shin guards out of all kinds of things. She has cut cardboard from a carton and used it as shin guards, etc.
Ahead of the game against Tunisia she used plastic from a bottle as shin guards.
Some social media influencers posted the video and began complaining that the NFF couldn't get shin guards for the players. One person said that she doesn't do that at her club and that it was Nigeria's fault.
Well here's a video of Esther using cardboard from a roll of toilet paper as her shin guards.
WAFCON 2024: Madugu Satisfied With Super Falcons’ Performance In Win Over Tunisia
Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu has expressed satisfaction with his players performance against Tunisia.
Nigeria got off to a perfect start at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations courtesy of a 3-0 victory over the North Africans.
Asisat Oshoala opened scoring for the nine-time champions after four minutes, while Omorinsola Babajide doubled the advantage on the stroke of half time.
Substitute Chiwendu Ihezuo netted the third six minutes from time.
“It always feels good each time you set out to go out for a game. The ultimate goal for you is to win. And the fact that the team won, obviously, it is only natural that we are happy that the team won,” Madugu said during his interaction with the media after the game.
Substitutes Esther Okoronkwo, Christy Ucheibe, and Chiwendu Ihezuo all make positive impact following their introduction.
Madugu declared that every player is important in the team.
“Well, every player that is here is equally of great importance. For us, they all are our players and we try as much as possible to promote team harmony and make everybody feel relevant in the team and nobody feels more important than the other,” Madugu added.
“The game is a team sport. You all need each other. And so we try as much as possible to ensure that we do the right thing by being fair, transparent in all that we do.
“Like I said, everybody has an equal chance of being in the team. So whoever does well continues, whoever does not do well, obviously, because we want to do better, we have the privilege of making those changes so that we get the team going.”
‘It Was For Jota And His Brother’ — Babajide Reflects On Goal Celebration Vs Tunisia
July 7, 2025
Super Falcons forward Omorinsola Babajide has reflected on her goal celebration in the team’s victory over Tunisia.
Babajide scored Nigeria’s second goal in the comfortable 3-0 win over the North Africans at the Labri Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca on Sunday night.
The goal was her first for the nine-time African champions.
“It was for Diogo Jota and his brother as well. That was like one of his biggest celebrations at the club especially. We call it the signature celebration really,” Babajide reacted to his goal celebration after the game.
“I just wanted to do something for him. He was like one of my best players at the club when I was there as well. May his soul rest in perfect peace, both of them.”
Diogo Jota was on the books of Liverpool before his death in a ghastly car accident in Spain last week.
Babajide also played for Liverpool Ladies for four years before moving to Brighton.
WAFCON 2024: Dominant Super Falcons Thrash Tunisia 3-0 In Opening Group Match
Nigeria’s Super Falcons began their quest for a 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title on a perfect, after recording a dominant 3-0 win against Tunisia in their Group B opener on Sunday.
Goals from Asisat Oshoala, Rinsola Babajide and substitute Chiwendu Ihezuo, secured the Super Falcons a first-ever win against Tunisia in their second meeting with the North African country at the WAFCON.
The first encounter between the Super Falcons and Tunisia at the WAFCON was in the group stage at the 2008 edition which ended 0-0.
Oshoala gave the Super Falcons a fourth minute lead as she headed home a low in-swinging free-kick delivered by Babajide from the left flank.
Babajide made it 2-0 one minute into first half stoppage time as she drove into the box from the left flank before firing a low strike past the Tunisian keeper, marking her first ever goal at a senior international tournament.
Late in the first half Ashleigh Plumptre thought she had made it 3-0 as she rose highest to head home a corner but it was disallowed for a foul on the Tunisian keeper.
The Super Falcons continued their dominance in the second half but were let down by poor finishing.
Plumptre attempted a lob from distance which was destined for the net but the keeper tipped it over the bar.
Experience defender Osinachi Ohale missed a glorious chance as she hit her effort over the bar in front of an empty net.
Substitute Esther Okoronkwo saw her strike come off the post after neatly beating her marker inside the box.
In the 75th minute the Tunisians had a shout for a penalty but after a VAR check it was waved away.
The Super Falcons then put the game beyond the North Africans thanks to Ihezuo who made it 3-0 on 84 minutes.
The forward volleyed home a knock down header from Okoronkwo inside the box off a cross from Plumptre.
The win placed the nine-time African champions top of Group B ahead of Sunday’s late game between Algeria and Botswana.
The Super Falcons will face Botswana at the Stade Larbi Zaouli on Thursday, with Tunisia taking on fellow North Africans Algeria.

We can't take a backlash from Datti, PO’s VP candidate in 2023, on the same day the coalition unveiled it's platform he couldn't even wait 24 hours.
The next day Aisha Yesufu another PO’s close person calling our bosses, and respectable elders names.
You can't be minority and dictate terms, nobody is stopping you from campaigning for your candidate but do it in a civil manner or we allow you to win your election like you did in 2023.
Just when we are about to take upon ourselves to accept your boss and campaign for his candidacy, you don't come with that disrespect.
If we can't respect each other make everybody go im papa house abeg!
Let me make something categorically clear, when I speak I speak in my capacity as Aisha Yesufu who is a citizen of Nigeria.
I do not speak for anyone or on anyone’s behalf. Neither do I speak as anyone’s supporter . I speak in my capacity, who happens to be someone’s supporter.
The freedom to speak my mind how I want, the way I want is why I have never accepted to be anyone’s spokesperson or accepted any official role in a campaign or whatever.
It is a fundamental dictate of democracy for the minority to have their say and majority to have their way.
By the way, tickets are not given. They are contested for.
Tickets are not earned by threats. They are earned by persuasion.
Tickets are not earned through crisis. They are earned by consensus.
It is within your democratic rights to pitch for a candidate of your choice. But it is anti-democratic to threaten, intimidate, harass others, who are also entitled to canvass for the interest of their own preferred candidates.
Commence the process of building a consensus and not a conflict around the candidate of your choice.
