Tianamen1:
Obasanjo established an excess crude account to save money for when oil prices would fall. Obasanjo accrued cash in Nigeria's foreign reserves.

GEJ wasted all that money.

Buhari met very low oil prices and had no money to defend the Naira. Buhari's solution was to put a band-aid on the wound (the problems the economy was facing). He imposed a ban on forty items, aiming to stimulate local production, and established a fixed exchange rate policy to prevent the Naira from depreciating and causing poverty and inflation. Buhari should have also focused on reducing the cost of governance,

Tinubu simply removed the band-aid and allowed the wound to get rotten. Tinubu devalued the Naira without reducing the cost of governance and called it reforms. Tinubu has wasted 2 years and is about to waste another 6 months without implementing a proper tax policy. His tax policy doesn't even go far enough to fix issues.
"Established a fixed exchange rate policy"

How was the exchange rate fixed??

No matter how you run, I will still drag you back to that thing that you are running from.

Supplementary question:

Are you saying that the Buhari Administration did not spend any money to defend the naira?

Tinubu devalued the Naira and did not subsidise the price of petrol. The solution is not to subsidise products and services but to stabilise and strengthen the Naira. This can be achieved by moving Nigeria from consumption to production, as Peter Obi always says. Producing more goods within Nigeria will reduce the demand for dollars for imports, thus boosting the value of the Naira.
Hahahahahahhaha

It's like a programmed bot that cannot think, so it keeps repeating the initial instructions that it received.

Answer one simple question. You said that "Tinubu devalued the naira", so I ask you, how was the value of the naira kept up before Tinubu devalued it?

And of course this will happen in a day and you'll keep subsidising the naira until you achieve that right?

🤣 So many people on this thread are simply deflecting and trying to change the subject because they cannot answer the simple question that he asked.

If you say that the removal of subsidy was bad, then announce to Nigerians that you will bring back the subsidy and also tell Nigerians how you will fund the subsidy and also fund government.

This is foolish talk subsidy is done and buried...I wonder who's got the lower IQ between Nigerians and their leaders
Did you actually understand what he was saying? He is not saying that he wants subsidy to be brought back, he is saying that those who say that the removal of subsidy was a bad thing should tell Nigerians if they would bring it back if they have the chance.

That's what he is saying.

Will you bring back fuel subsidy?  —  Gov Radda questions coalition leaders

Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has charged coalition opposition leaders to inform Nigerians of their plans for fuel subsidy and how they intend to govern Nigeria.

Governor Radda, while speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday, questioned the opposition leaders on what they plan to do differently from what President Bola Tinubu’s government is currently doing.

“This coalition we are talking about in Nigeria, what is new about it? Who are these people in the coalition? Have they not been in another coalition before? What are they going to come and do differently from what is happening in the country now?

“Those who want to contest for President under the ADC let them come and tell Nigerians are they going to bring subsidy back? And if they are going to bring subsidy back let them tell Nigerian how they are going to run the government and with what resources are they going to run the government,” Radda stated.

The governor urged the opposition leaders not to deceive Nigerians, saying that all of them had formed a coalition because they were out of government.

“Let’s be realistic, let’s tell ourselves the truth. The time to deceive Nigerians is over. Who (among them) was not in the government of the last regime? We know the track records of everyone; we know what they have done when they were in government, and they are now crying and shouting because they are outside the government.

“Let’s be realistic, if you’re coming with something new, every Nigerian is going to embrace it because all of us are here to make Nigeria better. Our problem is we the politicians and we must clean ourselves and be sincere to ourselves,” he said.

The coalition opposition, which is floated on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and spearheaded by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, includes Peter Obi, David Mark, Rauf Aregbesola, and many former governors and lawmakers.

PoliticsNo Rift Between Tinubu, Buhari — Garba Shehu (Video) by naptu2(op): 1:42pm On Jul 08, 2025

No rift between Tinubu, Buhari — Garba Shehu

Former presidential spokesperson Garba Shehu has dismissed rumours of a rift between ex-President Muhammadu Buhari and President Bola Tinubu.

Shehu said the two leaders remain united under the All Progressives Congress.

Speaking during an interview on Trust TV’s 30 Minutes on Monday, Shehu said there has been no formal disagreement between the men.

He stated, “People are entitled to their opinions. But officially, there is no distrust or fallout between the Buhari and Tinubu administrations.”

Shehu stressed that Buhari remains loyal to the APC, the party that gave him a platform to win the presidency after three failed attempts.

He said, “For Muhammadu Buhari, he’s still very much an APC member. He has always said, ‘I will never be ungrateful. I will never betray the party that gave me two terms in office.”

Responding to speculation that Buhari’s camp is uneasy with developments in the party, Shehu said they are not bothered.

“We read these statements when people say such things. Are we disturbed? I don’t think that’s the right word,” he said.

He noted that those who played a role in forming the APC back in 2014 understand the sacrifices it took and are unlikely to do anything to weaken the party now.

“It took hard work, energy, and sacrifice to bring the APC together. After trying multiple times, the opposition groups finally joined forces in 2014 and won.

“Those who saw how much effort it took to build that coalition won’t be the ones to tear it down,”
Shehu added.

Ex-Reps Speaker, Agunwa Anakwe passes on

By : Guardian Nigeria
 Date: 8 Jul 2025

The Speaker of the third House of House of Representatives, Agunwa Anakwe, has passed on following an undisclosed illness. He was 74 years old.

Anakwe, who was Speaker at 36 years of age, died on Saturday, according to the Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor.

He was removed from office following the military coup that ousted Ernest Shonekan-led Interim National Government by former military dictator, General Sani Abacha, on November 17, 1993.

He opposed the agitation for the creation of more local councils at the time, which, though a legitimate aspiration, was pushed as a disguise to prolong the transition to democracy.

“He steered the House with a lot of dexterity, wisdom and patience, a situation that saw the House having more stability than its Senate counterpart before the military, led by General Abacha, struck on November 17, 1993, after the annulment of the Presidential election won by MKO Abiola of the Social Democratic Party (SDP),” Chris Ngige, former governor of Anambra, where Anakwe hails from, wrote in a statement.

While paying tribute to the late Speaker, Ngige described him as “a close friend and trusted political ally.” He noted that, as Speaker, Anakwe displayed “dexterity, wisdom, and patience” in steering the House during a turbulent political period.

“He brought greater stability to the House of Representatives than what we saw in the Senate at the time before the military struck after the annulment of MKO Abiola’s election victory,” Ngige said.

The former governor also revealed that he was supported by Anakwe while challenging entrenched political godfathers and restoring civil service functionality in the state.
