People are allowed to sit on chairs (as President Buhari did) due to injuries, age, etc. You might remember that Bola Tinubu had a knee injury some years ago and he went abroad for treatment. Funny people then trended rumours that he had cancer and all types of illnesses.

PRESIDENT TINUBU PROMISES NIGERIANS MORE HARD WORK FOR THE PEACE AND STABILITY OF THE NATION

President Bola Tinubu said Friday in Abuja that he will continue to work hard and pray for the peace and stability of the nation.

In an interview with reporters after the special Juma'ah prayer session for the nation and commemoration of his birthday at the National Mosque, the President thanked God for the grace of seeing his 73rd birthday.

The President will turn 73rd on March 29th, 2025.

President Tinubu said the safety and welfare of citizens remain uppermost on his mind and prayer list.

"I feel good. I feel happy. I thank the Almighty Allah, who has protected us and continues to answer our prayers.

"We also thank Allah for accepting our worship; that is key and very important to us.

"We have prayed for our country. We prayed for the stability and peace of the nation. We prayed that Almighty Allah will safeguard our people and all citizens,' the President added.

President Tinubu said his watchword remains "hard work and hard prayers.''

"The word for all of us is hard work. You work harder, and you pray harder. That's the inspiration I got from today's sermon.

"We thank God almighty that at this stage, we are still in it and working,'' he added.

Dr. Abdulkadir Salman Solagberu (the Malami Ubandoma of Ilorin Emirate) and other clerics led the special prayers for the nation and the president.

Dr Solaberu assured President Tinubu of continual prayers for his good health, strength and wisdom to steer the nation's affairs.

The renowned Islamic cleric and scholar noted that prayers for the nation's peace and stability would herald the citizens' development and well-being.

The Imam of the National Mosque, Prof. Muhammad Kabir Adam, thanked the President and his wife, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, for catering to the poor and needy during Ramadan.

Prof. Adam urged Muslims to continue their prayers for the President, the nation, and goodwill toward the poor after Ramadan.

"Mr. President, Allah is with you, and you will succeed,'' he added.

The Jumat was attended by the Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima, the Deputy Senate President, Sen. Barau Jibrin, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, ministers, Service Chiefs, and some members of the President's family.

Hunters of northern origin, who lived in Rivers State, were travelling to Kano for the Eid holidays. They were travelling by road.

They were stopped by vigilantes in Uromi, Edo State. The vigilantes saw their dane guns and raised an alarm. A mob formed and burned the travellers in their trucks.

People's Gazette published a strange story that Governor Sanwo-Olu was in trouble because President Tinubu discovered that he and others sent money to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, through Aisha Achimugu, for their 2023 election campaign.

In response Atiku Abubakar's spokesman said that it was a plot by the Presidency against him (Atiku) and Sanwo-Olu. The Presidency accused Atiku of rumour mongering and said that it was not involved in any such plot.

Achimugu’s Investigations Have no Bearing with Atiku or Sanwo-Olu’s Issues

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, wishes to react to media reports linking its investigations of Ms. Aisha Achimugu with political undercurrents involving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

We wish to state unequivocally that the investigations of Achimugu have no correlation of any kind with the two political actors. She is being investigated for alleged criminal conspiracy and money laundering and has since been declared Wanted by the Commission.

The EFCC commenced investigation of Achimugu in 2022 and though she approached the court to obtain an injunction restraining the Commission from arresting, investigating, inviting or detaining her for any alleged criminal act, the injunction was challenged and vacated on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

The court ruled that “…no court has the power to stop the investigative powers of the Police or EFCC or any agency established under our laws to investigate crimes when there is reasonable suspicion of commission of a crime or ample evidence of commission of an offence by a suspect”.

The court further upheld the interim order of forfeiture of assets of Achimugu suspected to be proceeds of crime, dismissing her suit against it as lacking merit .

The foregoing clearly establishes that the EFCC’s case against her has no immediate or remote nexus with any politician or any veiled or open reference to any political engagement or transaction.

The EFCC is non-partisan and non-sectarian. We enjoin the public to continue to keep faith with the professionalism of the Commission without imputing any extraneous consideration to its works.

Furthermore, the authorities should also address the killings of Edo indigenes to ensure that justice is served for all.

The brutal killings of 16 innocent people, which happened in the Udune Efandion community in Uromi, Edo State, yesterday, 27th March 2025, are highly irresponsible and a clear case of jungle justice. The video has clearly shown human inhumanity to humans in Nigeria.

Furthermore, it is the responsibility of the government to ensure citizens are protected and culprits are always brought to book without any form of selective justice. It is said that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.

In addition, the protection of the lives and property of citizens is not a favour but the primary responsibility of government as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution Section 14 (2) (b). I also strongly advise security agencies to carefully analyse the video being circulated on the killings and identify the criminals, and arrest them. The following technologies and their applications are recommended:

1) Object Detection: Identifies specific objects, such as face, skin, clothing, or accessories, using computer vision. Colour, OpenCV, and PyTorch;

2) Facial Recognition Technology (FRT): Uses artificial intelligence (AI) to compare facial features in the video with that of the suspects. Convolutional Neural Networks and OpenFace are apt here; and

3) Deep Learning-based Video Analysis: Uses neural networks to analyse video content. Google Cloud Video Intelligence is relevant in this regard.

I believe the technologies, algorithms, and applications mentioned above can help the security agencies to identify the culprits involved in this brutality and those committed in the past and even the future.

Our heartfelt condolences to the family of the victims while praying to Allah to be merciful to them and bring absolute peace and stability in Nigeria. May Allah expose the perpetrators of this crime and all the perpetrators of the previous crimes committed in Nigeria and the world in general.
