Rivers Hoopers finish third at 2024 BAL
Rivers Hoopers outscored Cape Town Tigers 80-57 on Friday at BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda, to finish third in the BAL season 4.
The Nigerian champions led from the opening jump ball and went on to lead by as many as 28 points to close their 2024 BAL season with a 6-4 mark.
On the day that Rivers Hoopers' Ogoh Odaudu won the 2024 BAL Coach of the Year award, Kelvin Amayo and Devine Eke combined for 45 Rivers Hoopers points to end their season the same way they started, with another win.
Cape Town Tigers, who played without their two leading scorers Carter Diarra and Samkelo Cele because of injuries, concluded the 2024 BAL season with a 2-6 mark.
The South African champions looked nothing like the team that caused the biggest upset of the season by knocking out top-seeded FUS Rabat in the quarter-finals.
The Tigers’ 6 assists, 20 turnovers, and poor three-point shooting (5-for-32) made things difficult for Flosh Ngwenya’s men.
And making half of their free-throws (10-for-20) only made things difficult for the Tigers who chased their first BAL podium finish.
Dhieu Deng and Ngor Manyang, the only Cape Town Tigers players to score in double digits, finished with 17 and 14 points, respectively.
The win confirmed what Ogoh envisioned days before the start of the 2024 Sahara Conference when he said to the bal.nba.com that they were ready to make some noise, when asked about Rivers Hoopers’ 1-2 in the 2021.
“People will see a lot from the Rivers Hoopers this season that we are slowly getting there. People are going to notice Nigeria this time around. This thing about Nigeria just coming to participate, we didn’t want to do this this time around. We wanted to put together a team that would come here and compete and make some noise, that’s all we did.”
AmazingELixir: Chairman, how do you reconcile this Section 138 with presidents also appointing themselves as ministers...the last I checked Obasanjo, Buhari and now Tinubu all bore the toga of both president and Petroleum minister which is an executive post
A minister is an extension of the president. Constitutionally, there is no defined job for a minister, he only does what the president delegates to him. A minister serves at the pleasure of the president and can be dismissed at any time.
However several lawyers have raised the same objection that you raised and have sued presidents that appointed themselves as minister (see an example below).
I am not reading beyond that page I saw. The first section is ok with me. Why didn't you include he's name in that list? You expect me to continue reading that Jagon? No
I couldn't give a shit about what you read and what you don't read (that's your personal problem), I owe you no explanation whatsoever and your views do not interest me at all.
You are free to continue wasting your time, but I won't read or respond to your posts.
For those asking about Tinubu, it only requires the application of common sense.
1) Who is the president right now?
2) What does the constitution say about the president holding another executive position? (See section 138)
It's very easy and simple once you use common sense.
Someone up there said that I voted for someone in the last election. Hallucination (seeing things that are not really there) is a terrible thing and I can only sympathise with him. People who exist in the real world know that I have never voted for any Nigerian politician.
Unfortunately some people exist in their own private world.
Besides, people who can read would have seen this in the first post
A draft document for the reintroduction of regional system in Nigeria has been circulating online (see pictures below). Who would you pick to lead your region if the bill is actually introduced and if it is signed into law by October 1st, 2024.
OPERATION LAKE SANITY 2 CONTINUES DESPITE TERRORIST PROPAGANDA
As Operation Lake Sanity 2 progresses, the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) is addressing recent propaganda spread by ISWAP terrorists urging Kukawa and neighboring communities to flee or face attack. Unfortunately, some media outlets have inadvertently amplified this message, overlooking its implications. This reprehensible propaganda is a blatant act of intimidation, a desperate move by a group on the verge of defeat.
As multinational troops intensify operations, such propaganda is likely to increase, making it crucial for communities to remain steadfast, vigilant, and confident in their safety. The MNJTF and Nigerian Operation HADIN KAI troops are firmly committed to safeguarding Lake Chad Basin communities. They are actively pursuing Boko Haram terrorists, moving swiftly and decisively to neutralize any threats. Their presence and continued operations serve as a robust shield against this menace.
The terrorists' so-called ultimatum is a clear sign of their frustration and diminishing power. Their capability to conduct ground operations has been significantly impaired, pushing them towards using scare tactics like Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) at every opportunity. By issuing such threats, they aim to spread fear and disrupt the lives of Lake Chad Basin residents. It is crucial not to succumb to their tactics but instead to demonstrate resolve and fortitude.
We urge the residents of Kukawa and neighboring communities to remain united and vigilant. Report any suspicious activities to the troops immediately. Collective vigilance and cooperation are essential during Operations Lake Sanity 2 and beyond. Our unity is our strength, and together, we can ensure the security of the Lake Chad basin region.
