The Lagos State Government wants to ensure that there are no accidents between cars and trains and that's why it is removing level crossings from the route of the Red Line and replacing them with bridges. Cars will go over the bridges while trains will pass below.
The Government is also building a lot of pedestrian bridges along the route. For example, there will be a bridge that connects Yaba Bus Stop (the white roof in the pictures above) with Yaba Train Station.

The Yaba Overpass Bridge is one of the four designed for the Red Line. The others are at Ikeja, Mushin and Oyingbo.

farem: Churches renain their target. Everyone knows that over 95% of mosques are daily noise dispensers but will rather go for churches who do once or twice a day. Noise, wherever it's coming from, is evil but let's balance the action Maya lives in me @enitioluwafe This church behind my house is moving their vigil to another venue outside our estate. According to them, 'one child of perdition kept on reporting to LASEPA'. I own this title if it makes us sleep soundly at night in our abodes. This battle has been won at last. CAF announces CAF Awards 2023 Nominees for Men’s Categories
Wednesday, 01 November 2023
CAF has revealed the list of nominees for the men’s categories for the CAF Awards 2023 as preparations for the Awards Gala scheduled for 11 December 2023 in Marrakech, Morocco, gather momentum.
A panel of CAF Technical Experts, African Football Legends and selected media representatives from a number of countries put together the preliminary list for the various categories with the performance of the nominees between November 2022 and September 2023 serving as the period under consideration.
Thirty (30) players made the cut for the top prize; CAF African Player of the Year, whilst 20 players have been nominated for the CAF Interclub Player of the Year. Coach of the Year, CAF National Team of the Year and Club of the Year have ten (10) nominees each just as CAF Young Player of the Year – for players under the age of 21.
For the first time, CAF has introduced the CAF African Goalkeeper of the Year Category (Men and Women) in the prestigious event that seeks to reward and celebrate exceptional Players, Officials and Administrators during the period under review.
It will be the first time that shot stoppers will be acknowledged for their performances, further expanding the network of winners for the annual event. 10 players have been nominated for the novel award.
The ultimate winner of each category will be decided after votes from a voting panel consisting of CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, Head Coaches & Captains of Member Associations and clubs involved in the group stages of the Interclub competitions.
The nominees for the Women’s categories will be announced in due course.
Senegal forward Sadio Mane was crowned CAF African Player of the Year whilst Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala was coronated CAF African Women’s Player of the Year for a record fifth time during the last Awards Gala in July 2022 in Rabat, Morocco. https://www.cafonline.com/news/caf-announces-caf-awards-2023-nominees-for-men-s-categories/

naptu2: What you are asking for already exists both at the federal and state levels.
Unfortunately I'm in transit at the moment, so I'm going to compose this post entirely from my memory, but I'll provide more information when I get to my destination.
The law that created the Nigerian Environmental Safety Regulatory Agency (NESREA) empowers it to set noise limits. Individuals and organisations must comply with this limit or they will be made to pay fines for every day that they contravene the regulation and they can also be jailed. Unfortunately I can't remember what the limit is.
In Lagos State, LASEPA has set a limit of 55 decibels during the day and 45 decibels at night. I watched an episode of Sunrise Daily (between 2005 and 2009) in which the then commissioner of environment, Dr Muiz Banire talked about noise pollution.
He said that he tested the generator in his home and discovered that he was contravening the law and he had to get it soundproofed. He said that citizens could complain to LASEPA and LASEPA would initially issue a warning to the defaulter to reduce the noise being emitted. Then they will conduct inspections to see if their warning is being complied with and lastly, they will seal the property if the problem continues.
I've posted a long list of example of action taken against churches, mosques, bars, factories, hotels etc. and ways in which you can contact LASEPA. I'll search for them when I get to my destination or you can use the Nairaland search bar and type " Naptu2 Lasepa " |

BreconHills: Don't follow him down his rabbit hole.
Someone made a precise comment which was answered with a precise factual answer and now he wants you to follow him down a moonlit desert of emotion and personal opinion. Oh, I know. That's why I stopped reading his posts. There are two tricks that people use quite often on Nairaland. (1) They will introduce a red herring (2) they will shift the goalpost. I stopped responding to those tricks in 2014. You could say that the sun is shining. Then someone comes and argues with you and says that the sun is not shining. You provide incontrovertible proof that the sun is shining, then the guy now says, "The shirt is red". What the hell does that have to do with whether the sun is shining or not? Someone said that there was nothing like importation of petroleum products during the military era. I reminded him that there was. Then a strange person comes and says that I am exaggerating. What's the exaggeration there? Either there was importation or there wasn't. So I ask him the question directly and he can't answer, instead he is babbling about some irrelevant things. It's very obvious that he is not serious at all and doesn't deserve further engagement. He is basically fleeing from his original position because he can't defend it. I don't have time to chase people that keep shifting the goalposts and introducing red herrings. I promised myself in 2014 that I would never do it again. What I wrote should be clear to anyone with very basic education. Nobody can put words in my mouth or lead me to argue about something that I didn't say. |
