Since joining Manchester City in 2016, Pep Guardiola has been the highest-spending football manager on the planet and by quite some distance.

Guardiola inherited an ageing squad in 2016-17 and immediately spent over €190million in his first season, signing the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Leroy Sane, John Stones, Claudio Bravo and Gabriel Jesus.

In his debut season, City finished third in the Premier League and trophyless, but it wasn’t long until Guardiola found his flow in England.

During his second season, he spent another €280million signing the likes of Ederson, Bernardo Silva, Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy and Aymeric Laporte.

This was arguably Guardiola’s best-ever transfer window, as the majority of his signings that season went on to have long and successful careers at the club.

With a new spine in place, City romped the Premier League, winning it with a record 100 points.

After 2017–18, Guardiola’s side then went on to win five of the next six league titles, in which time they spent over €970million on new players.

Over the past 18 months, it’s fair to say that City have hit the buffers, but their spending has continued to increase during that time.

Following the recent arrivals of Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi, Guardiola could theoretically field an entire starting XI worth £415million, only using players that he’s signed since last January.

As per Transfermarkt, Guardiola has spent a whopping €2.05billion since joining Man City, which is far more than any other manager.

In total, he’s purchased 67 players during his time at the club, with the average cost of a player at €30.5million.

The closest manager to matching Guardiola’s spend during that time is Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone, who has spent €1.22billion since 2016-17.

Simeone himself is the highest-paid manager working today and the bulk of his spend went on the likes of Joao Felix, Julian Alvarez and Thomas Lemar.

Along with Guardiola and Simeone, there are seven other managers who’ve spent over €1billion since 2016.

Those managers are Antonio Conte, Massimiliano Allegri, Thomas Tuchel, Unai Emery, Mikel Arteta, Erik ten Hag and Eddie Howe.

Surprisingly, Nuno Espirito Santo rounds off the top 10, having spent more than the likes of Jurgen Klopp, Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho and Luis Enrique since 2016-17.

There’s no denying that Guardiola is the best manager of his generation, but it’s also true that he’s had way more financial support than the vast majority of managers.

Here’s the full breakdown of the highest-spending managers from across world football since Guardiola arrived at Man City, using figures provided by Capology.

Thanks for your open-mindedness...that is my own test for knowing serious people and to test temperament and he failed woefully. He just fell into the trap. I was as polite as i could be. If the question did not go well with him, there are reasonable ways to go about it. I am in for seriois business not just boyfie things. I am very much well-paid and run a fashion business. So if a guy asks what i do, i can proudly say without feeling hurt. What of men that asks, do you go around and say that you are a thief? Is he even proud to tell what he does? Is he ready to care for a family?? Inasmuch as i am not looking for set awon "i neva shop" still have some confidence in you,have tiny bit of hope in you at least. Then it shows that intellectually we can never be at sync. So i told him to keep it moving. Next thing, childish him brought it here like a baby crying in diapers so people will clap for him?? I see many reasonable comments here and i am glad that there can still be sensible people here on NL... cos this is not really my go-to SM platform.

Anyway, i thank everyone who have contributed to this discuss positively and negatively. I am married to the love of my life, a sound and intelligent man who has ticked all my boxes in what I really want in a REAL man... At this point,we should not rely on any of those traditional top 6 teams to help us beat man city.Most of their fanbase don't want arsenal to win EPL, most of them will rather chop stone than witness Arsenal lift the EPL. Let us just continue helping ourself by winning games by any means possible.

Honestly, people can be heartless. I am a Chelsea fans, but I am rooting for Arsenal to lift the trophy this season, this is a team that have not win it in over 25 years, this past few years they have done everything they can as a club in order to lift the trophy. I really wish all their efforts yields a great reward. If they fail to win the trophy this season, i will feel really sad for them, knowing that would be very devastating, demotivating to those players.

I am proud of that too and on a serious note, I don't see the issue. While I understand your concern, we need to get rid of the mentality that 30 is some rush-hour age. People do not wither and die a day after 30.

For females, 30's really is a rush hour, time goes fast. Ladies must be very conscious of this. I know sometimes Life does not turn out the way we want but that does not mean we should see what life has given us as the best. Imagine a student having a dream to graduate with First Class but end up with Pass and believing the Pass is not bad and it can still be very great, people have done great things with it, yes indeed! but it is still bad. Focusing on the bright side means such a person does not want to face the harsh reality waiting for them on the other side, the struggle they will now have to face due to the position they are now in. This optimism might end up pushing them to make greater mistakes, moving things from bad to worse.

Am I saying Ladies at 30's with no man ready to marry them insight, finished? or Men at 40's with no job, finished? or Someone who graduated with bad grades as I have cited, finished? No! No! No! No!

But only on the condition that they accept their new profound reality. The earlier they do this, the earlier will they start to make decisions that would really, really change things and give them that reality they want.

A lady at 30's with no husband is a crisis.
Graduating with Pass, Third Class is Disaster.
A man at 40 and still leaving with his mom is Abominable.

This is not about Feminism, male the conqueror and all other Nairaland's dogmas. This is about laws of Nature; you can't turn them upside down. Society cannot!

No doubt my expense has been in millions... But I have not looked at my account and see 1 million naira without house rent, and some kind bills claiming a stake to that money.

Amazingly, I don't do many extracurriculars that drain money.

Life will never give you what is enough, enough to get you were you ought to be. You need 100 bucks but all you get is 30 Bucks, mate you have got to learn how to survive with the 30 Bucks and still making sure a part of the money is invested into your growth. At the early stages in our life, we will have to make sacrifices, delaying gratification, living like monks, not doing certain things our peers are already doing (marriage, having children etc.) This is mostly true if one is born into a humble background. With Frugality, Persistence, Constant learning and your fortunes will yield.

As regards your finance i hope this helps.

Save first, spend what is left. Not the other way round

In today’s world we live in, privacy is a myth. Just as you know his name using true caller, he too can figure out your surname by that.

With all my in-depth knowledge when it comes to maneuvering the online world (not bragging but I damn understood the cyber world, it like I was born to live in it), about two years ago, With all my so proud knowledge I still ended up getting scammed, in a big way; pulled by someone in the east whereas I was right here in the southwest throughout the experience. It all seems like a movie to me, felt so ashamed I could not tell a soul. If I do, I won’t only lose money but also my credibility.

My point is, these scammers can be very very very tactful.
