shame no dey cash most of una? Leave mikel alone. Essien will take ballack's place I have said it before. Now the coach will tactical try out some formations but when things backfire ballack go bench. In the end it will surely be MIKEL,ESSIEN,LAMPARD in chelsea midfield. make una wake up
BusinessRe: Intercontinental Bank Has Become Useless by naso2(m): 7:13pm On Mar 19, 2009
I have read thru all the posts and think I have not being able to logically see the ground for the distress talk. I think a lot of people are just being malicious here. While there have been genuine concerns about certain policies about the bank from conerned customers I still believe people should clearly separate the call for policy changes from distress shouts.  The fact that a 19  billion facility (if true) goes bad is far insufficient to pronounce a bank as distressed expecially with the shareholders  fund that is far higher than that. Need I state other indices that are important here?

As touching the systems failure I must state that in this country we have grown up to understand that systems fail. This is evident everywhere we look in the country. Even for banks systems fail and I think Intercontinental has not been too guilty in this regard. I am a customer of the bank and will tell you that although  there was noticeable  system drag , but ATMs in my area were paying through out the period although a few people complained about their balances on the first day. The truth is that worldwide CASH IS KING expecially in these challenging times but when there is no evidence of defualt on payments from the bank then in fairness let us stick to the policy issues that we the customers want them to change.

On those that talk about share prices I think we have to be real. First bank rose to as high as 90 naira 2 yrs ago, Zenith hit the 60 naira mark, need I tell you about flour mills that crossed the 100 naira mark and is trading now at about 10% of that value. I threatened my stockbroker januray last yr to buy dunlop at 5 naira or loose my patronage. Now the price is less than 1 naira. Please and plaease our country is where it is  now becuase of deliberate outright lies or half truths. Lets not employ that tactics here. As  a customer I need facts.

As for the talk about financing the real sector(manufacturing) and not short term loans banks give, I want us to understand that no one will invest any serious funds in a sector that is bedeviled with infrastructural defects. Lets be real.  Finance is not the main reason why manufacturing is dying in nigeria we all know that. ASK DUNLOP, AJAOKUTA STEEL etc. Even MAN has never stated finance as their  main challenge.

Lets  be real and factual .lets us stick to  the policies we want them to change. When I see any genuine reason to close my account I will but for now I smell so much malice.

I support siasia 200000000%. My fear however is that NFF will allow things to get too bad with amodu before they invite sia1. Lets have a coach that will make every player earn his shirt.

"A defensive midfielder who cant tackle clean without bagging card"
wrong assessment I think this appraisal is a season late. This season his tackles have been clean besides as a DM cards should not be so dreaded, sometimes in the course of doing the job it has to happen.

who can only pass backwards and sideways, who cant launch attack
His primary role is to break the opponents attack which he does very well. Normally ballack, lampard and deco are supposed to be playing almost same role in different clubs. Now you have all of these players teaming up with mikel in the midfield and expect him to break the opponents attack and still be doing other peoples job? noway. check the third goal against bourdeux and confirm if he actually does not launch attack.

who cant take shots
Yes that is a weakness which he needs to work on because of dead balls (essien's big plus). But in football if you cant play shots it is very very difficult to learn , however with some good personal home work he can learn how to spin the ball faster which will most times get same result as a shot. But even makelele had this weakness and that has not affected his rating worldwide.

who cant hold the ball for more than 4 seconds
i respect your timing o. but what difference does it make if a player holds the ball for 1 minute as against 4 seconds? the focus should be the ability to deliver as instructed by the coach.

Who cant throw long passes
I no gree dis one at all. Mikel is one of the cleanest passers of the ball but please not that long passes depend on the movement of ur attackers. If ur attackers dont run into space, then what use is a long ball which will only mean gambling your possesion?. watch the chelsea VS cluj second leg and see how drogba's inclusion changed Mikel's passing style. Even drogba applauded him on one occassion before the second goal came thru mikels intellegent ball to joe cole. Please give dis guy some credit.

Chelsea's formation can at best be descibed as 4-1-3-2 (not 4-4-2) with this formation and having fullbacks (cole, bosingwa) who are always tempted to overlap, then u will agree that the defensive burden on mikel is heavy.

I personally feel the number of matches he plays especially for a busy club like chelsea tells on his output sometimes but abeg the boy dey try.

When essein returns I repeat that his inclusion will not be at mikel's expense , rather deco/ballack will give way.
abeg make una praise the boy small.

Abeg how many goals makelele don score since him start professional football?. Not all DM's move forward to get goals.
SportsRe: John Mikel Obi Is Far Overrated! by naso2(m): 7:35pm On Jan 19, 2009
@allboyz

I no gree dis one wey u talk o. Why do u think players train and coaches do tactical drill if any player can just decide to go into the opponents 18 and contest a corner kick. I have never seen rooney in the 18 during a corner kick , he comes out , stands as a defender to take advantage of any dead ball.

When chelsea has a corner kick sometimes both terry and calvaho goes into the opponents area , so what happens when there is a counter attack? That is why players like mikel stay back and watch , it is no gamble , it is called tactics designed by the coach. period.

In football you maximise what you have and try improve on your weakness . Mikel is weak at taking shots and his speed is not the best hence the attacking midfield role will not necessarily be the best for him in MEN'S game ( not youth u-20 football). In holland the only goal mikel scored was a penalty kick. Every coach will judge an attacking midfielder by his assists and goals he scores. You can be sure mikel would rank low in this regard.

Mikel has good marking skills, ability to hold the ball and good passes that most likely makes his present role suitable.

Please do not use youth tornament as a complete yardstick to measure a player's future, sometimes the player shines not because of his ingenuity but for the naivity of his opponents. If you judge mikel by Nations cup 2006 in Egypt then that comes a little closer to his present challenge.

In 1983 Marco van basten was watching tarila okorowanta perfrom magic in the same youth tonarment. How did both players end?

In 1995 africa AYC in nigeria ,I saw a player Emmanual Ebiede who I was too confident was superior to okocha becuase he seemed to lack nothing: vision, dribbles, shots good passes but how did he end?

I can go on and on. but the mikel I see will respond to any challenge and I mean it. When essein comes , mikel's output will be challenged to improve such that scolari will find a way of playing both of them , that is if it is the essien in our assumption that returns.

regards

When mikel lost the ball against roma it led to a goal. If you take a second look you will see that the roma attacker covered a considerably long distance before firing at the Chelsea goal. This brings home the fact the while mikel plays as a cover for the defence, he is not necessarily covered hence utmost caution is often applied when he has the ball. When Bosingwa overlaps which he does often, Mikel is expected to cover. He does that for others too.

Scolari gave much of the credit of Chelsea 4-0 win over Pompey to mikel. He said mikel provided the platform/coverage for defenders to go forward and express themselves which was what disorganized pompey. Make una stay here dey judge wrongly

When Essien returns I expect Scolari to pair him and Mikel where they will alternate who goes forward to support the attack and show some creativity while the other watches his back. But for now make una forget all this expectation talk , the boy is doing well. The good thing I see in mikel is that he is pliable and would be able to respond to any challenge provided the coach does not play names.

In 2005 recall that most times mikel was getting the ball deep in our half, then he runs, guiding the ball into the opponents vital area before releasing the ball. Then we had Keita who was playing the DM role to provide defensive cover.

Make una no us nations cup 2008 judge the boy, the entire team under performed and berthi vogts was a blunder. The embarrassment wey Ghana people give me that day for Accra still dey pain me.

Why most African players do not make it in Europe is the inability to play to instruction or tactical indiscipline.

Mikel has not been found wanting in this area. Do this names ring a bell ? Emmanuel ebiede, Alfred Omoefe : excellent talents but have difficulty playing to instructions in European clubs.

I am too surprised at the majority verdict on mikel as overratted. First I think most of you guys should have learnt to keep quiet or rather take a second look at what he has in his game that almost every Chelsea coach admires. Most of you condemned mikel’s choice of Chelsea instead of Man U. the talk then was that Chelsea was too star-studded hence would remain on the bench/mat forever. But that has not been the case.

The major complaint against mikel before this season was the ease with which he got bookings . That has not been the case this season and I believe that has affected his marking . A DM role is not one where cards would be feared as plagues. It is a role for the dirty jobs.

While I admit that having to play in all of chelsea’s matches this season is having some effect in total delivery sometimes, I will be quick to state that aside lampard nobody has done better than mikel in Chelsea’s midfield this season. I just pray that essiens return does not turn an anti climax but I confidently will state that essien will return to take either ballack or deco’s place not mikel’s. Essien played some matches this season for Chelsea before his injury. They were not really outstanding displays.

Mikel has kept that position in Chelsea even when there have been challenges from players like diarra, sidwell, minero etc. please give the guy some respect .

The presence of senior midfielders makes it difficult for mikel to do more than just defensive cover and ball winning for other midfielders but that does not diminish the fact that he is still one of the cleanest passers of the ball available. HE IS NOT OVERRATTED.
