Princess Omobolanle Ogundiran Receives Triple Honors for Security Innovation, Gender Advocacy

Princess Omobolanle Ogundiran, PhD, DSc, was conferred three national distinctions this quarter, culminating in double honors from the Award Celebrating Excellence (ACE) and ACE Media Management on Thursday, recognizing her pioneering work in crime prevention and human development.

Dr. Ogundiran, a criminologist, security intelligence expert and philosopher, is Founder & President of SEWWASI/BTC Skills & Training Institute and Convener of Intelligentsia Nigeria. Both initiatives deploy a “catch them young” doctrine, using skill acquisition, education, and early intervention to prevent criminal recruitment and detect risk factors before they escalate.

According to reports, the first award, presented by the management of Award Celebrating Excellence (ACE), honored Dr. Ogundiran as an "Outstanding Philanthropist & Empowerment Leader." The citation noted her “remarkable contribution to gender advocacy and human development initiatives, coupled with unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s development.”

The second award, from ACE Award & Media Management, recognized her as an "Outstanding Woman of Substance & Initiative in Security Intelligence," citing her “remarkable contribution to security development and total dedication to humanity in Nigeria.”

Last month, the National Female Association of Nigeria presented Dr. Ogundiran with an "Outstanding Award" for her leadership in advancing women’s roles in national security and development. The association commended her dual impact: elevating gender advocacy while architecting practical intelligence frameworks that reduce youth vulnerability.

Dr. Ogundiran has built a framework through Intelligentsia Nigeria that treats security as a function of economic agency. BTC Skills & Training Institute, which she anchors, delivers vocational and digital-security training to youth in high-risk corridors, converting vulnerability into employable skill.

“The highest form of crime prevention is creating alternatives before crime becomes the option,” Dr. Ogundiran said while receiving the ACE awards. “Our mandate is to make security intelligence proactive, not reactive. We catch them young, and we keep them free.”

Dr. Omobolanle attended the occasion in the retinue of noble leaders from Intelligentsia Nigeria. They Mrs Adeyinka Adeshina etc with some other Awardees which includes, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, Group Chairman, Odua Investment Company Ltd; Dr Mrs Anuoluwapo Bankole, Founder of Mercyland International School; and many others.

The occasion was also attended by capacity leaders, some of which include Hon. Dr Bayo Adefuye, Executive Chairman, Yaba LCDA, who later left for an official assignment.

Today, the Intelligentsia Nigeria celebrated with an orphanage home in commemoration of Children’s Day, which coincides this year with the Sallah celebration.

The triple recognition signals growing institutional appetite for non-kinetic security models in Nigeria. Development finance observers note that skills-led prevention programs are increasingly being measured as ESG-relevant interventions, with the potential to lower political-risk premiums for investors in urban centers.

Dr. Ogundiran holds a PhD and DSc, and continues to advise on policy intersections between gender, youth development, and national security architecture.

Dr. Omobolanle has remained committed in her vision towards tactically supporting the nation's security infrastructure.

A few months ago, she hosted an intelligence program in FCT themed, "Strengthening National Security Through Women and Youths Development: A Civil Intelligence Approach." The occasion witnessed the notable participation of key stakeholders in the security ecosystem.

EducationAPC Leader Celebrates Niece’s Academic Excellence by Nasreports77(op): 8:12am On Apr 20
Dr. Ben Nwoye’s Niece, Egboh Grace Chioma, Bags M.Sc in Public Administration

Egboh Grace Chioma, niece to Ben Nwoye, Deputy Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress, has bagged a Master of Science in Public Administration from the National Open University of Nigeria.

The achievement marks a significant milestone in what observers describe as a deliberate academic progression across diplomacy, social work and governance.

Chioma previously earned a Diploma in International Studies and Diplomacy, as well as a B.Sc in Sociology and Anthropology with a specialisation in Social Work, building a multidisciplinary foundation.

A governance analyst familiar with her trajectory said the combination positions her strongly for public service.

“Her foundation in diplomacy gives her a grasp of negotiation and stakeholder management. Social Work grounds her in people-centred problem solving, while Public Administration ties both ends together for effective institutional management,” the analyst noted.

Findings indicate that Nigeria’s public sector is increasingly in need of professionals who combine technical expertise with empathy and global exposure.

Industry watchers say individuals with such a blend are well-suited for roles in policy analysis, legislative support, public sector reforms and development programmes within NGOs and international agencies.

Reacting, Nwoye described his niece’s accomplishment as both a family pride and a national asset.

“Chioma represents the kind of young Nigerian leader our public sector needs — globally aware, socially grounded and administratively skilled,” he said.

“As we push for greater youth inclusion in the 11th Assembly and beyond, this is the calibre we must mainstream into governance. Her academic record is not just a list of degrees; it is a blueprint for 21st-century public leadership.”

He added that the party’s commitment to youth participation goes beyond symbolism.

“We need minds that can translate grassroots insight into policy and manage public institutions with transparency and competence,” he stated.

With the new qualification, Chioma is expected to contribute to governance, development and civic innovation, at a time institutions are seeking fresh talent to strengthen service delivery and citizen engagement.

The Global Peace Advocacy and Empowerment Initiative (GPAEI), a renowned international organization dedicated to peace and empowerment, has withdrawn the ambassadorial appointment of Ms. Rosemary Eze over allegations of fraudulent activities.

In a statement released on Monday, GPAEI announced its disassociation from Eze, citing her involvement in the unauthorized approval of official vehicle plate numbers for unverified individuals.

The organization also revoked her official plate number, “RRR GPAEI,” and declared that she is no longer authorized to act in its name.

The plate was reportedly arranged for her overseas-based acquaintances who recently traveled to Nigeria.

Ambassador Ibrahim emphasized that the organization’s decision to issue a disclaimer was driven by the need to mitigate potential future challenges arising from Eze’s actions.

He reiterated that Ms. Eze is no longer affiliated with GPAEI and must cease using any materials or identifiers linked to the organization.

PoliticsGroup Calls For Probe Into $65m Estate Fraud Involving Ahmed Dangiwa by Nasreports77(op): 8:55am On Jul 15, 2024
The National Youths Appropriation Initiative (NYAI), a prominent civil society organization, has urged anti-corruption agencies to scrutinize the alleged $65 million fraud of the uncompleted Goodluck Legacy Estate.

He stressed the necessity of investigating Ahmed Dangiwa, the current Minister of Housing and Urban Development, over his role in the stalled project.

According to Hussein, Ahmed Dangiwa, formerly the Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), assumed control of the Goodluck Legacy Estate project from his predecessor, Dr. Gimba Kumo, on February 14, 2016.

“Not investigating or inviting Ahmed Dangiwa over the $65 million NHF housing projects is unprofessional,” Hussein stated.

“The project, initiated under Kumo’s administration and contracted to Great Heart Power Nigeria Limited, has faced significant delays since the leadership change”.

Hussein highlighted that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) had previously noted irregularities but has yet to investigate Dangiwa’s tenure thoroughly.

The NYAI’s statement details the setbacks under Dangiwa’s management, suggesting that his actions may have intentionally obstructed progress. This lack of advancement in the project has deprived many Nigerians of affordable housing opportunities.

“Under Dangiwa’s management, reports indicate that the Goodluck Legacy Estate project in Abuja was stalled. The reasons behind his actions to frustrate the contractors and developers remain unknown,” the statement read.

The NYAI calls on President Tinubu to consider the political history and actions of his housing minister.

The organization urges a comprehensive investigation to restore faith in the housing project and ensure accountability.

“The FMBN (Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Legacy Estate) is a model housing estate development designed to deliver all the services of a modern urban setting,” the statement noted, emphasizing the importance of the project’s completion for the community.

The estate, located in Kaba District, FCT Abuja, was envisioned to include diverse residential housing types, schools, shopping centers, worship centers, maintenance facilities, an integrated organic hybrid agro facility, and dedicated power and waste recycling plants.

“As we calls for transparency and accountability grow louder, the spotlight remains on Ahmed Dangiwa and his management of the Goodluck Legacy Estate.

“The NYAI’s demands reflect a broader public interest in ensuring that such significant projects are completed without corruption and inefficiency.”

PoliticsGo After Contractors, Developers, Not Ex-CEO Of FMBN – Group Tells ICPC by Nasreports77(op): 11:14am On Jul 13, 2024
A Civil Society Organization known as the National Youth Appropriation Initiative (NYAI) has on Friday urged the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to be professionally guided in its approach to investigation.

The national President of NYAI, Barr. Ishaq Hussein made the statement while reacting to the recent frivolities and inclusion of the Ex-CEO, Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria in a proposed ICPC arraignment charge.

Barr. Ishaq said the ICPC should go after the contractors which is known to them and not the Ex-CEO who is outrightly innocent.

Reports have it that the monies for the project was secured as a loan from Eco Bank.

The Contractors were introduced to the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, with history of several projects with Eco Bank.

If the Contractors suddenly became incompetent then the leadership of FMBN after Gimba Kumo should have revoked it, but no and the now question is why?

Recall a statement by the ICPC Director of Legal Henry Emore, who had said there is no charge against the former CEO of FMBN Gimba Yau Kumo. So if they file any charge now, it is of political interest,”.

Also the EFCC few years ago conducted it’s investigation and said there is nothing linking Gimba to the said $65 million contract meant for the development of 962 units of residential houses in the FCT.

According to reports, the contract was approved to a company called Good Earth Power Nigeria Limited but did not deliver the project. The Directors of the Company should be the ones under the ICPC watchlist or arraignment list not Gimba.

“Why then is ICPC going after the Ex-CEO instead of the contractors, even after the ICPC and EFCC has cleared him”.

Also recall that the Ex-CEO of FMBN had presented all documents to the senate committee on public accounts when summoned on to clarify the matter in 2018.

Ishaq encouraged the ICPC to refrain from any form of political propaganda sponsored to witch-hunt patriotic nationals.

The national President has said that public office holders who have served Nigeria diligently should not be harassed by operatives of the ICPC with conflicting charges.

“If a case has been cleared, it is cleared why would another operative reawaken a case without proper investigation and after displaced operations, they begin to tender apologies as damage control.”

“With proper investigation, they should know whom to arraign and who shouldnt. Chasing clouts and pulling triggers of empty riffles only ridicules the commission’s operational standards,” He added

In the category of paid votes, vendors can set price per vote, with voters paying to vote as it also supports Instant voting in single and multiple category. Ahead of the removal of fuel subsidy come June 2023, the Indigenous leading Tech-powered mobility Company NAIRAXI says digitizing Nigeria public transportation systems will help to mitigate impending adverse effects.

The company Chief Executive Officer, Kingsley Eze disclosed this in a statement signed on Wednesday and made available to journalists.

The CEO noted that the vision is to consequently improve accessibility to mobility, explore alternative energies, expand proprietary mobile technology and ensure a contactless transit card and auto fare collection technology.

Eze also disclosed that the collapsed and inefficiency of our urban transit has led to what is known as "the one-man per car syndrome". This obviously leads to traffic congestion, gridlock and poor air quality as a result of pollution.

He noted that now is the best time to explore programs and initiatives to advance the country’s transport sector.

He said "Federal employees and economically challenged Nigerians may receive transit passes in amounts approximately equal to their commuting costs but not to exceed the maximum level allowed by law. It is accessed via a seamless transportation payment platform spanning public and private systems.

The program objectives of the NAIRAXI Transit Subsidy Program for private and mass mobility is to encourage Nigerians to use public transportation for commuting to and from work, and other productive engagements.

According to the Co-Founder of NAIRAXI, Elizabeth Omale, who spoke with our Correspondent exclusively, she explained that Increased use and nationwide adoption of NAIRAXI Digital Transit Subsidy Program will improve air quality, equity, accessibility, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, reduce traffic congestion, and conserve energy by reducing the number of single occupancy vehicles on the road. A win for everyone."

She described the proposed removal of subsidy as the beginning of a new Nigeria. She says by using a little percentage to subsidize the transport services there will be better national growth, development and impact in the lives of poor masses. She encouraged all citizens to embrace the NAIRAXI Scheme, so that we can take back our country by cooperatively taking out subsidy.

Although Eze reiterated that making public transportation attractive to commuters requires the digitalization of the industry. He further emphasized on the need for technology to scale up the reach and expansion of services. "Technology can cut through a lot of drawbacks in the public transport like long wait time, inefficient scheduling and payment processes."

"We should be pushing for an intermodal approach in the sense that, shared taxis, buses, rail, ferries and last-mile transit options like "Keke" must be well harnessed,"he said

Since 2020, residents of Luxembourg have been able to freely commute with trains and buses throughout the country without buying tickets. According to the government, it is in a bid to reduce dense car traffic. The measure is part of a wider plan to reduce congestion.

“In a report by Bloomberg, free transit programs have emerged in all kinds of cities and countries over the years as a means of addressing rising energy costs or traffic. Rome experimented with free buses in 1971; Austin, Texas, tried it in 1989 and 1990; Kansas City’s bus and streetcar systems have been fare-less since 2020; and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has vowed to “Free the T” throughout the Massachusetts city, starting with a trio of fare-free bus routes."

According to the report, one of the longest-running efforts has been in Estonia’s capital, Tallinn, which has had free public transit for residents since 2013, while Estonians also pay no fares for rural bus journeys. Ticket-less transit has also recently arrived in the cities of Dunkirk, France, and the Czech Republic’s Frýdek-Místek.

Meanwhile , NAIRAXI Automated Fare Collection System (AFCS) Pilot Production Testing (PPT), allows the convenient use of contactless smart cards as cashless payment instruments in public transport modes. This is currently implemented in the Tinubu/Shettima Nairaxi Transit Card Initiative, which is introduced by NAIRAXI. Already many are currently registered via the portal, as commuters across major cities in Nigeria are beneficiaries of the free digitised transportation initiative.

Independence: Nigeria Still Struggling With Insecurity, Others, At 62 - Buraimoh Folajimi

As Nigeria celebrate her 62nd independence anniversary, The Young Progressives Party(YPP) candidate Ifako-Ijaiye Federal Constituency, Hon. Buraimoh Peter, Folajimi says after 62years of independence, Nigeria is still struggling with insecurity and poor infrastructural development.

Buraimoh stated this in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Abuja, on Monday.

"It is indeed a shame that after 62 years of self-government, Nigeria is bedeviled by high-level insecurity, poor infrastructural development, unemployment, poverty, and regressive economic growth, to mention a few.

"62nd years after independence, Nigeria, like a vehicle struggling to climb a hilly road, has yet to achieve its potential. Its large population has thus become a source of insecurity.

"With mass unemployment and overstretching of inadequate and poorly maintained infrastructure, many Nigerians have had to seek their fortunes abroad.

"Now more than ever we must be intentional about building our nation. We must be determined to get involved", Buraimoh said.

He said building a nation requires a selfless determination to make Nigeria work.

While speaking on the issue-based campaign, he said "Now that the elections are upon us, I want the great people of Nigeria, especially the people Ifako-Ijaiye Federal Constituency, Lagos State, to consider this election as a means to get good government.

“A government that would truly reflect the needs and aspirations of the people. We urge you to get on the train of service to the people. And we are determined to begin the development of Nigeria from the grassroots through the Folaj for Ifako-Ijaiye movement.

"The onus is on all of us to make Nigeria work again, when we vote wisely, Nigeria will rise again", he said.

Weighing on the hope for Nigerians, he said “No condition is permanent,” screamed inscriptions on many commercial vehicles on the streets of Lagos.

According to him, change is possible. But first, there has to be a mental and moral reorientation. Who will start it? If the government is irresponsibly disconnected from its role, civil society organizations should take up the task. Religious organizations with their massive and committed followers have a role to play in reorientation and rebirth.

"For its part, the government has to truly commit to fighting corruption. Corruption has bled Nigeria to near death. It could cost up to 37% of gross domestic product by 2030 if not dealt with immediately.

"When honesty is rewarded and corrupt acts are publicly punished, more Nigerians will more likely embrace honesty in their endeavors. Government should purge itself of corrupt elements and prosecute those found culpable," he said.
