Brute force: NAIRA =NAIRA, NIRAA, NARIA, NRIAA, NIARA, NRAIA

using permutation: place N and A at beginning and end of word respectively. There are two A's. Since they are indistinguishable, it changes nothing. Assuming no repetition then, the letters in the middle (3 of them) can be arranged in 3 x 2 x 1 ways. So we have 6 ways!

If repetition were allowed, in which case the two A's are distinguishable (?), then just multiply answer by 2. So, we have 12 ways. Not a sane answer, though!
