Another injury. Pulisic is fragile. There's no way he didn't pop his knee in that tackle. May be now Omari will play by default. |
We are not doing badly. |
Leyqute:Mason is injured |
Na wa o. Another injury. |
Go boys. We can do this. |
BlueMann:Hehe. Auto correct. I edited now. |
BlueMann:I read it as a 3-4-3 as well with Pulisic as one of the WBs. But it could be a 4-3-3 with Ziyech in the hole behind the forward line. |
It looks like a 3-4-3. I always prefer a 3-4-3 ...especially against City. |
@Ibime you mentioned Marcus Thuram the other day. It looks like he's now on our radar. €20m value apparently. Meanwhile I have been looking at this Mudryk guy. Must admit I didn't really know him before. Has anyone seen a player more ambidextrous in modern football? |
Ballzproblem2:Hehehe. For real? Young man, you might never have been told this, but YOU DO NOT possess the intelligence to decipher anything or anyone dumb. You don't even have the intelligence to understand basic punctuation when writing, yet you want to pass on the understanding of the complexities of FFP and multi-club ownership as your own. This is why I called it copy and paste. I know this because in all of your 1 million child-like compositions, you have failed to mention the single most-important reason Boehly doesn't mind paying over the odds for Enzo, but wants it NOW. You have never been told, so you are unable to know this your own. I will tell you, so you can copy and paste elsewhere. ENZO is 21, and still according to the provisions of FFP, considered an Academy player. Therefore all expenditure on the Academy is outside of FFP scrutiny. So Boehly can write off all of the expenditure as development funds. You understand now? Why does Boehly want it now? Well Enzo turns 22 on the 17th and therefore any deals made afterwards are subject to FFP. Smart move but he's still overpaid....grossly! And that's why the bone of contention has been about the price paid, not whether Enzo is required or if Boehly is smart. But you are trying to form intelligentsia when you know nothing. You think it's by posting every second. I no dey fight on here but if it will happen, at least I will prefer some real G with average understanding of their own position, not some nitwit who doesn't appreciate the proper use of a full stop. Come at me again, and I will phucking destroy you. |
Ballzproblem2:Hehehe. Copy and paste. Oya explain. |
Bimffo:Alhaji. You are just forcing the issue. Enzo cost just about £10m only 6 months ago. We have paid over 1000% the value of this player only 6 months ago. To put things in perspective, this has never happened in football. If I am wrong please remind me. Do you even understand the gravity of this maganess? While we can agree to give them credit for finding cheap deals, it must not be overstated. This is what they are there to do. So we should not use this as a yardstick to excuse financial stupidity. You seem to be stuck in a zone explaining that because these people are directors, they cannot make mistakes. I can consistently tell you that all the 'directors' Boehly employed have not sanctioned this much money on a single player in their entire careers. So what's to say they understand value at this level? Enzo is a good player. World Cup credit on top, £55m max, given his history. But we have been maga'd on a mega level - just like Cucurella and Wesley Fofana before this. Stop making it look otherwise. |
User09:Big TT fan here. There was data stuff by Boehly and then there was just poor transfer nous and squad management from TT. We have to admit. For once, TT had what was a blank cheque, to build a proper squad. He could have pointed to anything he wanted, and he would have got it. Those guys were ready to spend. But he squandered it. If TT had managed the midfield needs very well, then one could argue that there probably will be no need for Enzo now. Fine player but like you opined, worth less than £10m only 6 months ago. To say we have seriously overpaid, is a grand understatement. And yes, the same energy will be applied to Potter when he's given £400m worth of players. |
airmark:Based on what I have seen on Fofana, I strongly believe he can be that guy. To be honest, that is the one single transfer target that I look forward to. |
airmark:We have problems with many players. Recruitment over the years has been shocking. We would have a chance to correct that starting from this window. From what I have seen, I think he is not tactical, and especially not bold and inventive enough. When you are playing badly, you need a manager who is bold enough to make strong decisions and try new things. But I have a feeling Potter is weak, doing the same thing over and over, thinking things will change. This is important, seeing that he is doing the exact same thing TT did, but expecting different results. I expected to see a radical change, new training and set up during the world cup gap to transform the side.... but I see even though he got a life line, he's completely wasted it. He just went to a back 4. For instance, it's clear to see that Pulisic and Sterling are not creating enough, but I think Potter is afraid to cut their minutes and try something new. He has Hutchinson and Hall sitting on the bench game after game, and he's there probably shitting his pants, wondering what Sterling and Pulisic might feel about not playing in the game. Play Chukwuemeka, or Casadei, or even Hall in midfield.....just something for a change. I fear he's not the type of manager you give a long term project to. |
MorataFC:Sebi na why dem dey shout £100m about. They believe in this stupid fantasy that Enzo walks in, and we just become Man City overnight. We are talking about strength in depth, they are talking about splashing 100m on just one player. |
Ibime:£63m down the drain. Then we have another one who's not even played for longer than 5 mins for £75m. In only a few days, people started downplay Ben Chilwell's achievement, because he'd been out for while. Stupid spending of over £100m, and we are still here. |
Absolutely shocking. I don't even know where to start from. |
Happy New Year to everyone. Happy birthday to you Nihilist and Odunharry. Hope you guys have a fulfilled year |
WhoDeyHause:Which injury troubles does Dujon have? Not aware of this. We can always call him back. Always felt TT made a stupid mistake by letting him go when he could have been good cover. Meanwhile a good long term solution I will propose is buying back Tino Livramento. We have a first refusal on a buy-back option and Southampton are probably getting relegated. Solid RB, solid incentive RWB, still only 21...Chelsea through and through. |
popizaino:How this simple argument eludes them is totally mind boggling. They think as long as you say 'it's not my money'...then it's right to spend anything at all on a player. This lot just want to see shiny new toys. They don't realise that in the end, Chelsea, by FFP, is still not allowed to spend more than it generates in revenue, no matter how wealthy your owners are. So yes, it is 'OUR' money, and very stupid to conclude otherwise. See LordFalcao and Bimfo that I expect are already familiar with these terms and conditions, not like the new mumu ones, are also joining in the mumuism and shouting 'calculator' all over the place. These types of ill-educated arguments is why other people label all Chelsea fans as one. |
airmark:I like this post. Especially the part in bold. Many don't remember. Not for the transfer ban and Lampard, James and Mount are just another Livramento...and their careers on different paths unfortunately. They did indeed, accidentally, become first team players. I remember as clear as day, people on here claiming nothing special about James in his first few months. Now we all admit our season goes to shit when he's out. It's only been 3 years to reach that level. In Brazil, these guys would have been playing in the first team forever. |
RIP to The Great. The GOAT of goats - Pele. |
airmark:On my radar. I mentioned a few days ago that he's been called up to train with the first team. Expect good things from him. In ability, he is easily 2 levels above the best to come out of the Academy. Hopefully he can put in the work and harness that ability for pro-football. But good to see Potter has noticed him. |
FBS:I am proposing him because in my opinion, he is good enough. All what Bimfo is putting together is highlights. 'He gave the ball away in dangerous positions' is highlighted arguments. How did this happen and in what circumstance? Everybody gives the ball away. But what did he do after? This is absent from the analysis. Now that's what I want to see from my DM. Imagine what will happen if Jorghinho gave the ball away to Mbappe on the half way line against PSG? The way I see it, Morocco did well at the WC but still had a team with some average (but well drilled) athletes who had tendencies to put their team mates in positions that led to giving the ball away. For me, what Amrabat showed was technique, positional awareness, creative advancement of play, recovery pace and solid defensive awareness. That's what I need from my DM. Does the price play a part? Yes it does. Like I say, the focus has always got to be strategic squad building with strength in depth. £100m on Enzo and Jorginho as back up is not strength in depth. It's just stupid spending. |
Ballzproblem2:There is necessary spending and then there is just exorbitant insane spending. I am sure we can all come up with 50 reasons why it is 'necessary' to spend £300m on Mbappe but it doesn't mean you do it. The likes of us were wondering why we spent over £130m on Fofana and Cucu in the summer when we have Levi Cowill, Dujon Sterling and Chalobah that can do a job. See where we are now. And then you go on a tirade of calling those asking for responsible spending stupid and foolish. Good player but why is it necessary to spend over £100m on Enzo when there are a ton of options? |
Sulele04:He is still just one player. One wrong move and he's injured, we are back to where we were. For the same amount you can solidify the midfield, with strength in depth, by picking up bargains here and there. Not splashing it all on one player. |
FBS:I echo Ibime's view on this. Though I never followed him before the world cup, you need only 20 mins to know if someone has it or not for midfield play. The guy was a standout technical player, without being a world cup star. Not sure if you saw this 50m recovery sprint to stop Mbappe against France. That for me was yet another moment that just highlighted his recovery pace and intelligence. |
Na wa. Another over £100m player. I don't tire. I swear I thought we were in the market for Alvarez, Amarabat, and Zakharyan. We could buy all 3 and still get change on €120m and would have solidified that midfield defensively and offensively for years to come. |
Ibime:They should call Dujon Sterling for now and plan for the summer. |
donstan18:I thought we all agree not to argue like Dayo. What have the trophies got to do with anything? The facts are Havertz and Jota transferred to Chelsea and Liverpool at the same time. In that time Jota has scored 34 goals for Liverpool and Havertz 27. Jota cost £41m and Havertz cost £70m. Why are we hiding behind trophies? In any case, the larger point was that spending big money doesn't guarantee anything as evidenced by Havertz and the others I highlighted earlier. Similarly, spending £200m on Rice and FDJ could turn out to be lavish spending when there's value for money everywhere. Our best players over the last 3 seasons have been Mount and Reece James. Guess how much they cost? The Rice train has passed. We should have kept him when he was in Cobham. |
