Neymar is rubbish compared to Messi

Boateng is rubbish compared to who? Terry or David Luiz or Cahill?

If we are comparing Boateng to Nesta, Maldini, Sammer, Kohler I can agree he is rubbish. But compared to terry and luiz? he is a god

No one has said Boateng is world class when compared to defensive greats but I would say he is one of the top 3 Central defenders currently
I don't understand.
On one hand Boateng is world class but rubbish when compared with other greats. Still world class.
On the other hand, Hazard cannot be called world class because compared to other greats, he is rubbish.

There's a fault in this logic Dayo. Please address it.

In my opinion there should be a bar for the term World class just like we have Hall of fame in Basketball

So it doesnt have to do with the period. If 10 players make it currently then they are all world class, if another time comes and no one makes that cut then no one is world class

We cant say Ronaldo Lima is world class and another time Gommis is the best striker due to lack of talent so we just make him world class

Thats my opinion and I think thats Fergusons thinking too
I will say that with caution. It will fast discredit many of the views you have previously stood by on here.

To the logic of the point; this would be akin to saying a particular player is not worth WPOTY because there is a dearth of quality players in the said period. You can see how quickly the logic would become extremely controversial.

so why do you think hazard is world class when there are at least 8 players in the
world right now better than him in the position he plays?
Being World Class has noting to do with numbers.
Off the top of my head - and I may be wrong on this - there may have been 8 strikers better than Raul Gonzalez when he was at his peak. No one in their right mind would have said he wasn't world class.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 7:27pm On Sep 23, 2015
The term World Class will always remain subjective and always relative to a footballing period. The term World Class will also depend heavily on the availability of quality players in any period.

Robben was definitely world class. He went from Chelsea straight to Madrid. Desailly was a key member of World Cup winning french sqaud when he signed for us. And then went on to win the Euros as well. Mutu was worldclass at Chelsea...He was at the zenith of his career when he got done for using fishscale.

Drogba was a worldclass striker bro. Hazard is a world class player today too. Take it or leave it. I wont argue.
I won't necessarily have regarded Mutu as world class at the time he arrived at Chelsea. I would have called him a Suarez-like success in the Dutch league. Suarez himself would not have been called World Class at the time he arrived at Liverpool. I agree with Dayo also that Robben would not have been World Class at his time at Chelsea.

I agree with you on the others.

Can't see anyone really supporting Costa for his action against Koseyin (abi wetin be that guy name sef? grin.
What we are unhappy with is the inconsistency of the stewpid FA. How is that so hard to comprehend?
I am assuming this is directed at me. So let me address it.
As you can see from my post, I am not interested in the FA's inconsistencies (at least not today).

What I am concerned about is what we can control.
As I said, we have no business with FA in the first place if Diego goes about his biz decently.

At least Nihilist says 'affirmatively' that he LIKES Costa's aggression (whether I agree with that is another debate); what many are doing is being silent on Costa's antics and then screaming about the FA's inconsistencies. You cannot have it both ways.

If Costa is going to go out there and behave like a mad dog every time, then expect bias from the FA who are under pressure from the press and the raging public, expecting Costa to banned for a "NEVER ENDING RECURRENCE" of his madness.

That's all I am saying.

That's because Diego has previous. Do you know how many things we have also got away with?
Let's not make it look like we have not had our good share of the "hypocritical" FA.

Abeg make we talk where talk dey. Chelsea has no business with the FA if Costa is not acting like a barking mad dog all over the place. I watched the replay so I was able to see it well tension-free. Diego was a fucking disgrace. Spent more time fighting than creating a single chance. The barge into Oxlade after play was just idiotic. We are blaming the FA when the dude could easily have been sent off very early on. I for one cannot watch without thinking he this is the day he gets a red card.

There were more fouls and leg-break attempts on Hazard than anything Diego experienced yet we didn't see anything fighting from Hazard. Na only Costa dey field?

I cannot believe some are supporting Diego. The guy is going to cost us in a crucial game, very soon. Watch this space! The sooner we start to learn how to score goals without him, the better.

When a player has previous, it follows them about. He should learn how to take things in his stride, put all his frustrations into scoring goals and see if everyone will not be off his case.

Who was the last Chelsea player to be banned for violent conduct?

@nateevs, i dont know if my opinion is needed but chelsea problem is psycological
Chelsea problem is mourinho
Chelsea problem is Ivanovic
Chelsea problem is Chelsea
We need new tactics, bench lazy iva a while and lets see if he can get his vibe back.....
Bpl teams really prepared well mentally for this season, with big money they generated they made neccessary changes...

One mistake chelsea made was against mancity, our weakness was spotted and we failed to see it instead we signed pedro, good signing but dat was not our flaws..... Oscar injury sort of messed things up a little....other teams saw this flaw, and we were punished....

I dont know d solution to the problem, all i can hope is for us to be back with a bang....i know that this season will be full of suprises, i just hope we have a positive one...

I commend those who have an opinion on why we this disaster persists. However, I am seeing a lot of people disagreeing with others without stating exactly what they think is wrong.

So folks, what exactly is wrong? Healthy debates please. No name calling. And please don't criticize others if you haven't made a contribution.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m):
So apparently Chelsea offered £64m for Pogba, Juventus accepted the bid, JM called Pogba personally to convince him (Paul) to join Chelsea but Pogba rejected the move because of disagreement on personal terms. Jose wanted the board to convince Pogba but the deal could not get done. In that time, Mikel's deal to Turkey was on the cards. JM was not convinced that the Pogba deal could still be done and he blocked the Mikel deal.

Also, Chelsea apparently attempted to steal the Martial deal just before deadline and matched the £36m Manchester United paid for him.

My point is, as opposed to what many of us think, the board actually attempted to back Jose to the tune of £110m (including John Stones); that the board was not complacent and realised the need to upgrade the team even after the EPL title. It was Jose who had up to £110m to spend in the market but identified only two targets and a crocked Radamel Falcao.

What Lalaboi is trying to tell you is that despite having represented Jamaica, Hector is in fact, classed as "home-grown". Right now we lack home grown players.

Now whether Hector is the player we should go after in the name is "home-grown class" is another debate. If you ask me, I think not.

Perhaps they detected structural weaknesses in them and they cut them down to commence restoration work. I will be surprised to see it not "look exactly as it was". Less prestigious buildings have their Grade Listing protected.

I haven't gone past that area in a while though. I avoid that place like a plague. The bike lane highway construction along Embankment ehn? Serious traffic.
