That's the only guy on the pitch who's playing 3 roles. First as a RB in defensive posture, second as an inverting RB in forward transitions, and third as an advanced midfield up the pitch.

He has to understand tactical positioning in all phases of play, making sure he's standing in the right place at the right time. Sometimes, it requires him sprinting 50m, 60m on average to be in the right position. Going all the way to the byline in the opposition, and then back to his to defend. Meanwhile, he's chasing and understanding where he needs to be in the middle.

This is his first time playing that role and it takes some getting used to. With the kain energy you need for it. Good thing is that Maresca can see, and that why he's playing.

Nobody else on the pitch is doing that abeg. Understand his role, and cut the guy some slack.

My point is that Chelsea should aim to be like Madrid, the greatest club side ever or even better.

Real Madrid doesn't care if he concedes or not. The mentality there is that if you my opponent can score 2,i can score 3,you score 3,I can score 4. They look to have more goals than their opponents.

Unlike the timbros that want Chelsea to be Chelsea of 2004,to go into a game and score 1 and lock up. It will not work in this big 2024.

The mentality is the reason why you can't point to any game were we have been down by 2goals in the last 15years and still came back to win while i can name several instances from other big teams that are doing better than us. Because like timbros we go into the game hoping we just score one goal and defend all through.

I would like to say I am the very first Chelsea fan on here to criticize JM for defensive football, when it was vastly unpopular to do so. I favoured attacking football every time. I grew up studying Johan Cryuff, and the complete concept of goal football. I supported and still support the Dutch NT. So ideally, I would be the first on this outscore nonsense being bandied around.

I call it nonsense because it attempts to analyse the attacking part of football in a vacuum. You cannot outscore your opponents without simultaneously out-defending your opponents. The key word being simultaneously. To suggest otherwise is just tantamount to deliberately making mockery of the all departments of the game, in an attempt to sound smart.

For you to outscore your opponents in the attacking phase, your defenders have done a good job of outdefending your opponents at that exact same time.

If you think this is wrong, tell your defenders to stand still for 10 mins, whilst the attackers try to "outscore" the opponent.
