Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode said the establishment of a mobile science academy is imperative to vision of Lagos becoming a model state.

The Lagos State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BASF West Africa to formally pursue a commitment to the establishment of a “Mobile Science Academy” which will promote innovation and conduct research in the state’s science education sector. 
According to Nigeria CommunicationsWeek report, Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, at the MoU signing, said the establishment of a mobile science academy is imperative to vision of Lagos becoming a model state.


Ambode, represented by his deputy Oluranti Adebule, said the agreement is also in line with the science and technology strategy for Lagos State which recognises science, research and innovation as priority programmes under the mega city project.

For his part, Michael Gotsche, Head of Market Area Africa, BASF West Africa Ltd, said both the Lagos State government and Basf West Africa have a shared interest in science and education.


At the time of writing this article, it is unclear what exact role the “Mobile Science Academy” will play and how it will directly affect the lives of Lagosians.

I disagree with you slightly, Education was top priority for BRF and Adebisi Sosan then, kids were taken off the streets from hawking and put in schools, schools got heavy renovation, several competition was organized to encourage learning, Quality of education skyrocketed, community service started, waste baskets were everywhere . Something fit don happen since Sosan didn't come as deputy for second term sha.

Defense of the currency isn't bad if there're plans for longterm permanent solutions, plans to boost local production, reduce import and also increase exports

When the current government devalued naira I thought they are making a grave mistake, but thank God I was proven wrong.
The rallying of naira is in the interest of Nigeria. And from the way things are going when the dangote's refinery started production the dollar will fall to below 300 or even possibly below 200. Because the major drain on dollar exchange in Nigeria is petroleum and petro allied products. So we won't spend dollars on them anymore, the demand will fall.
Also with time the refinery will produce excess to sell to neighboring countries or even to southern American markets thereby earning more dollars to Nigerian central bank.
Another good initiative policy is the made in Nigeria policy, now with the homegrown rice production it will further reduce the demand for foreign currency, all in all the two most foreign currency demand commodity will no longer need dollars so we should only use dollars for machinery and parts.
From the foregoing Nigeria will be great it is just a matter of consistency and determination by the successive governments.

I want to think that the experts involved in the project have done the requisite feasibility studies before arriving at the stated capacity. Also, bear in mind that in the last released report by an international organization, Waste Atlas (

So it may indeed be feasible to generate that much energy from all that waste.

You need to see the waste dump site at Bodija isopako.. huge would be an understatement

I like the ideas of a zoo but why must they keep the animals in a concrete cage? Why not place plants around them and grasses and remove that nonsense concrete floor (which gets cold at night) in order to duplicate their natural habitat so they can thrive? And then instead of 2 hungry-looking lions, you can start building a whole pride of huge lions and more people will come. Who fed that tortoise watermelon, why not feed them their natural food? Where are our zoologists and Animal Sciences graduates? Are they still chasing bank jobs that will never return. Why not approach the zoo and offer your services, negotiate a salary and use that to improve your knowledge and get personal funding internationally?

Tourist centre, redesign animal cages, create a petting zoo, relocate the water parks a by further off and place the recreation centre close to it, create a horticultural garden with rare plants and flowers (many exist in Nigeria), upgrade the park. Pour money into this place because more and more people cannot afford to travel out and will need relaxation spots locally. It takes upto 10 years to get your profits out of this place.

I wish I could be in charge of a place like this! Total redesign and basic upgrades will see more people flocking here.

I know of someone who got a multi million dollar contract, He told me his cost was $1200 per unit, he submitted a bid of $5000 a unit, they told him to resubmit at $10000 per unit. Citizens will get a $1200 product for $10,000 and be shouting Eko o ni baje not realising theyve been massively shortchanged.

I know of same that happened during bidding for light up Lagos.
I also worked firsthand with the One Lagos Fiesta crew, '15 and '16.. massive inflation happened.. the commissioner for tourism was even fired, now he's with the central govt as a DG for the tourism outfit

Ambode is not the messiah but he is by far the best governor of Lagos since 1999.

If Ambo had come in when Fashola did, he wouldn't have achieved what Fashola achieved in 16yrs, Fashola touched all sectors from Roads to Hospitals to Secondary schools..
Which means we started having better health

Better schools
