How can you focus on a message from someone who did the opposite of what he said? Someone who speaks of how he also treated Labour Union through bribery. Didn't you read how he analysed the situation like an insider? This clearly indicates he did the same while he was the President. Tell me again if one can focus on just the message

Democracy under Obasanjo is 10X better than what we have now.

Tell me how many ordinary citizens Obj used the police to intimidate and silence them when they criticized his government.

How many Obj supporters called other people names because they failed to support Obj.

You claim Obj destroyed democracy, why did subsequent leaders not correct the anomaly?

Why did subsequent leaders not reduce the power the president wields. They preached so much when they were in opposition about restructuring and true federalism, but cling onto the powers vested in the president.

Let’s stop this attitude of blaming others for mistakes they make and we as a people instead of correcting the mistakes, we enjoy the perks that come with it.

The same way y’all say the 1966 coup caused all Nigeria’s problems till date. After the Jan 66 coup, they were over 5 coups. Why was the anomaly not corrected?
There is nothing 10x better in the same democracy except you just want to turn blind eye to what Obasanjo did. You talked about police but failed to talk about the witch-hunt through EFCC by the same Obasanjo. Police also did their worse by illegally arresting people under the same Obasanjo. Go and read what Human right watch said about the Obasanjo's government.

Was it not the same Obasanjo who corrupted the house of assembly just to always have his will proceed. Obasanjo gave the model for corruption in Nigeria.

You talked about reform and suggest it is something that comes within a twinkle of an eye. What happened to the local government autonomy? Isn't that part of the reform? Please, tell me if this same autonomy is openly embraced by all states. We just praise a man who destroyed everything called democracy in Nigeria just for his selfish agenda.

How did Obasanjo's Library which he has personalised for himself came to be? Were the Governors not forced to pay for this? Go ask Fayose his account of this issue.

When I see people praise this man, I just feel sad. Maybe they lack understanding of history under this same man or turned blind eye just for selfish reasons. Obasanjo is not different from every other leader that has ruled or is still ruling. THEY ARE ALL THE SAME

Area boys will come to tell us how Obasanjo is the architect of Nigeria’s problems and how he is the one that caused all these mess we are in.

Obasanjo left power almost 20 years ago.
Just because you want to make a statement that makes no sense, you have to call others names. That someone left power 20 years ago, does that suggest he has a clean record or exonerate him from the mess in the country today? The democracy we practiced in Nigeria was ruined by Obasanjo and built upon by others. So, if you build a house on a faulty foundation, you are suggesting that the foundation should be ignored, while we focus on the cracks on the walls and the building sinking. Does this make any sense to you? To ignore Obasanjo in this whole mess is to say he was a saint. Obasanjo is not different from every other president that ruled.

Let's stop all these nonsense talk and start building a better Nigeria where everything works. It's high time we stopped all these nonsense. Someone talked today with no evidence and yet everyone believes. Before you attack me, if Akpabio is also found guilty of this, he should also face the consequences too.
PoliticsRe: Natasha: Akpabio Should Resign For A Neutral Investigation - Adeyanju by Nauttyprof(m): 6:18pm On Mar 07, 2025
I hope nobody is taking this guy seriously as he keeps talking anyhow. The case is in court, it is left for the court to decide if found guilty. The accused keeps saying he never did it. Why should he step down and what investigation is he calling for when the case is in court? Also, what evidence has this woman presented for this man to step down.

I really don't understand the way we reason in this country. It just suggests anybody could wake up some day and lay unsubstantiated accusations and we crucify the accused. Why do we have courts in the first place? Also, why did it take her so long to accuse this man?

I really don't understand. If Akpabio is found guilty after the court proceedings, he should not just step down but stop representing his constituency.

The LCDA scraping is actually a sensible thing to do since LGAs will receive allocations directly from the FG henceforth.

If it is not scrapped, how do the LCDAs get funding? The constitution recognizes only 20 LGAs in Lagos state.
That's an administrative thing to do. LCDAs are still under LG so it is easy to sort out financial issues. Also, scrapping it will only create administrative issues in Lagos state most especially with the way LCDAs are made to be closer to the people.

To sell the refinery. Which was based on the expert advice he had at the time.

Yaradua should be commended though for reversal of that decision. (I think he reversed because he felt they were sold too cheap and not necessarily because it was a bad decision)

Even though by now it's likely; if obj's plan had worked then Nigeria would have started benefitting from the working of the refineries a long time ago. And so much money which might have been used for other things might not have been embelzed!
Just the way Nigeria has benefited from all the privated government assets. Where is NITEL today? Let's start with this.

I have been relating with your kind for donkey years as a public servant and I am not moved with your kind because I am also trained to always have a thick skin to relate with your type. You can continue labelling anyone with contrary views to tinubu's or APC's policies bitter souls but the ends always justify the means and it would always reveal who is truly a bitter soul.
If the kind of love some of us have for this country is the same some of you have for this country and not the love for individual you have thinking it would translate to loving the country, then, this country would have gone far beyond what it is today.
Meanwhile, this is the language of failures to always see everyone as failure because they talk about those they love as failure. It's never a new language from your ilks to always place everyone in the same ladder. Taking up responsibility is a big load for some of you.
I rest my case from here.
It's clear how you reason and how you bring in all sorts just to defend yourself. Bitterness lies in seeing nothing good in anything done and always trying to pick fault. Who brought in failure if not that you see yourself as one in this whole discussion. Developing a thick skin in order to dwell in bitterness with a cover up of truth. This is why the country is not progressing because everything as long as it is against the leader and your country, is the truth. No reasoning is brought to any discussion.

I love my country and I want her to progress. You instead want everything against your country because your choice isn't in the position of leadership. We have different mindset. Check my comments here on Nairaland and understand that I support nobody. All I want is Nigeria to be better and the tax reform is a good step in the right direction for anyone who wants progress in this country.
PoliticsRe: President Tinubu Didn’t Provide Answers To Most Of The Questions - Oseni Rufai by Nauttyprof(m): 2:29pm On Dec 26, 2024
IfnobeGod20:
As I always say, whether good or bad, this is our country. Many people have gone this route in the past not yielding to the voice of reasoning. The same president today were part of those hailing and parting the Buhari's government and never allowed contrary opinion to prevailed, as they labelled people wailing wailers but today, the same man has repeatedly told the world that Buhari handed over to him a dead economy but when people were saying Buhari wasn't doing the right thing, they were called wailing wailers. One of my bosses in the office will always say, e gbe koto ota mo ni won (dig gentling enemy's pit). When you dig too much enemy's pit, you may be surprise that you will be the one to fall into it. That's just the scenario of what is happening to the present government.
The time they suppose to speak out, their political interest didn't allow them to do so but today they are the one dying in silence while the so called wailing wailers are making fool of them because they never knew they were digging too deep their own pit. E gbe koto ota mo ni won.
Today people are complaining the same way they were doing during Buhari's government, alerting the government their wrong doing but instead to listen, they are labelling them bitter souls on the premise that they lost election and cannot talk, forgetting that we only have one country called Nigeria and if it is good, it is to everybody's credit and if otherwise we face the effect together.
The wailing wailers of yesterday during Buhari's regime are now justified that they were doing the right thing for the building of the nation while the antagonists are the ones gnashing their teeth in regret. By few years to come the so called bitter souls and the recent antagonists we also have their days with posterity and see who is at the side of the truth.
Meanwhile, I know no matter the volume of common sense that is past to you, you will never yield to it because you have made up your mind to defend even the pint of president or let me say APC with all the fibre in you but always remember we have no other country to call ours except this country and if it is good, it is to our joy but if otherwise we face it together as we are doing today eating from hand to mouth by the culmination of the anti everything done in the past that some people supported. Continue!
You don't need to write all these epistle just to express the same bitterness I maintained in every of my comments. I have stated what is just so clear but your bitterness will never make you see any reason with it because all you want to achieve is just the expression of your bitterness while coming up with all sorts of excuses to support this.

So, we are both clear my philosophy has been that none of these known recycled politicians including Tinubu and Obi will make Nigeria any better. All are the same. Maybe this again will stir up another anger within you since I placed Obi in the same category as other.

I am for Nigeria and look out for the good of the country and I am not like you who hide in the cover of truth just to express bitterness. The Tax reform is a good one for any sensible person and the committee has done a good job by clarifying any gray areas of the reform. However, it does not suggest that it is perfect that's why stake holders meeting is part of the bill process and since some areas has been pointed out to be worked on, why should they still proceed in passing it as a law? The chairman clearly said it is still subject to review after the stake holders meeting. Even the president said the same thing that it is open to review too but the reform must take place. So, what convincing statement do you expect from him again when the review is being worked on and the committee have done a good job by doing the needful.

Bitter people will always never see the right in anything but will always want to talk no matter how good the thing is. He must convince people on what has become convincing to majority. Even in an organisation not everyone will support reforms but it is necessary for reforms to take place. So, you expect that despite appointing a committee to work on this and clearly states or explain the reforms the MD of the organisation should still convince others again. That's sick. Stop being bitter and appreciate good moves when you see one. Nigeria is not for any individual and Nigeria must progress.

IfnobeGod20:
You just refused to yield to voice of reasoning and common sense. I did made mentioned in my last comment that with all his committees that he set up for the purpose, I asked, why was the tax reform bill been stepped down for further deliberations? You never answered that but still wallowing in the rhetoric of people been bitter. If those people or the committee has convinced the national assembly to fault while is the bill not quickly passed like the other ones sponsored by the executive?
If you like own up to the president's mistake of not dwelling well to convince the populists on his tax reform, one thing is sure it won't change the fact that the tax reform is still having issue amongst the leaders of thought in the society.

Mr. Man, nobody is bitter, it is you people that won election that still in the ecstasy of electioneering when election has been won and lost and reasonably governance should be in focus but you guys still swimming in campaign. This is the reason you see contrary opinion as bitter and not for the building of the nation.
The same reasoning and common sense that has made you failed to realise that having a meeting with stake holders does not suggest that the bill can't be reviewed further and as such require it to be stepped down. Having meetings with stake holders is part of review of bills and does not lie in just senators passing a bill.

It is just this bitterness that has made you not to reason and just bent on hiding under truth to express your bitterness
PoliticsRe: President Tinubu Didn’t Provide Answers To Most Of The Questions - Oseni Rufai by Nauttyprof(m): 9:07pm On Dec 25, 2024
IfnobeGod20:
Nobody is bitter. In every democratic setting there is always opposition, if not oppositions. The problem with APC and their supporters is that they don't want any contrary opinion but they forgot they were in such position before and even the blind knew how they were ferocious and hitting the rooftops when they were in opposition. At that time nobody say they were bitter opposition but now seeing opposition as bitter.

You guys should stop such mindset, the aim of every opposition is to put on track the ruling party and not to close shop because they lose election and that is what APC and her supporters want. They want all oppositions to close shops and be mute so that they will have a free ride and do whatever they like but forgetting that democracy doesn't work like that.

Meanwhile, nobody is supporting someone that is just bitter but we are supporting the truth, just I had said, the buck stops at his table. If the president cannot articulate his own policy on a live programme he is anchoring, then, there is a big issue at hand. Putting in mind that the same tax reform had been stepped down by the national assembly for further deliberations. It was an opportunity for him as an architect of the reform to dissect the reform for the people for more understanding.
The people you're saying have met those concerned. Please after meeting them why are they stepping the bill down again, if they have gotten the details as you adduced?
Wanting better Nigeria is not hiding the truth but bearing open the truth.
The goodnews in all this thing is, the president has owning up to the problems if the country while some of his supporters still feigning ignorance and doing the usual hailing and praise singing. You guys should continue. Some people did same during Jonathan. Some did during Buhari and now some of you are doing same. Meaning it is not a new thing.
You just displayed the bitterness you have refused to accept. What was the essence of meeting with the stake holders? You think it is just to talk to them and then, ensure the bill is immediately passed? If you aren't clear on this ask than saying you are on the side of truth whereas it is just an expression of bitterness.

Why should I have to convince people again when the committee I set up had done the job. It lacks reasoning. You want him to convince people who are bent on not making anything work in the country?

Wanting a better Nigeria is seeing the Nation work and not pulling down the nation at every opportunity all in the name of bitterness with a cover up of truth. Everything is always the truth as long as it is against the president or against the nation.
PoliticsRe: President Tinubu Didn’t Provide Answers To Most Of The Questions - Oseni Rufai by Nauttyprof(m):

Remember the buck stops at his table. He's the one to convince the populists about the tax reform because it is his policy and details must be at his fingertips. If by tomorrow the tax reform failed, they would not call any other person but him as we are saying Buhari failed, Jonathan failed. Why are we not calling those he put in those sensitive positions? It's his government and he must be on top of issues.
Stop shifting blame and roping those asking critical issues. He should have used the opportunity to convince the indifference in the society.
He has nothing to convince anymore as this has been clearly done by the committee set up on Tax reforms and stake holders have been discussed with on the matter. What other thing should the President say again? Who should he convince when meetings have been held with stake holders?

You are the one who is bent on supporting someone who is just bitter and wants to find faults in everything. We want a better country but just don't want the country to be better. Tell me how this will happen if we see every issue from the eye of bitterness?
PoliticsRe: President Tinubu Didn’t Provide Answers To Most Of The Questions - Oseni Rufai by Nauttyprof(m): 8:32pm On Dec 24, 2024
Why should the President convince Rufai again about Tax reform when the committee has made every effort to explain the details about the reform. Appeared before Senate, visited Arise TV to further clarify things by the Chairman and also held stake holders meeting on the issue. What does he want the president to say again? Rufai is just sick.

Bitter people don't always see anything good.
