Rzq4: Hi, i collected ma birds(black harco) on d 1st of july, n dey started laying @ 17 wks of age. Presently dey are @ dia 21wk. With 153birds, i still av 151+ a cockerel till today and av bn collecting 2 and d half crates of egg per day 4 abh a wk nw(deep litter). D prob myt nt b d breed, it myt b d season. U nid to learn more abh ur biz. We are in a shorter day longer nyt period. And egg productn in birds starts wt lighting. I will advise u to increase d hrs of day length to abh 15 to 16hrs per day. Also a bird shd consume .11kg per day @22wks. Administer water ad-libitum, even @ nyt so d eggs cld start gettin big asap. Dia z still more to learn abh ds biz, bro. Best of luck

pls which feed are u using & where is ur farm located? Secondly may i know d vaccination u did to dm. I had dt antibiotics affect d laying period is it true? Cos there was coccidiosis & typhod outbreak when they were 8weeks & i gave dm different anticoc & antibiotics. Pls attaind to my questions. Thank you.

steel5800: @nbg4real I'm not too sure anymore but I think they started dropping around their 23rd week but they didn't go past 8eggs till they we're about 27 weeks old. Their rate of increase after then was amazing as they could go from 2 crates today to lets say 3 crates+ the next day. However, my mum stocked the same black karmadex birds after I stocked mine n hers started dropping the day they clocked 16weeks but they still weren't laying much till they got much older. I like d black karmadex cos of their ability to withstand diseases n harsh conditions which is quite important especially wen u can't be at d farm 2-4-7.

NB: my birds were about 750 or so

Hello! house, pls did any body has experience on black harco breed? When do they usually start laying? @ steel5800 you said your bird were delayed to start laying, pls could u remember the exact week dy started laying and the measures you took? Ur answer will of great important to me cos i‘m experiency dsame prob. my birds are in their 22nd week.

fnk: I am not doing layers at the moment, just starting my broilers. because of the death rate I am experiencing I was considering checking out other hatchery, OFN might be over rated.

@ fnk try one new company i think d name is agrited wt white caton & blue writing. I boutgh 300 broler i lost only 5 up to maturity.

Hello house thank your concer. Let me answer ur question in a nut shell. I did all d vaccination as scheduled dt EDS & NDV are d last ones observed as 3 in 1. My brother had dsame experince wt dsame bird(breed) from chi. He started given dm layer feed after 28weeks wt only 3% laying capacity from dn they pick up he is having 80% at now. So i dont want d situation to repeat it self. Because it is not easy to raise DOC TO 28weeks.

fnk: Do you mean single egg per day per bird? or all you pick up from the bird house is only one egg of all the birds?

@ fnk i mean only on egg from d house of 356 birds, 21weeks old black harco from CHI. Pls what is your experience with the Obasanjo birds. Are they as good as CHI or even better?

Thank you all for your advices. My dad is also a poultry farmer for morethan 2 decades, being me a lady i was not able ta participate much so i have little experience on d bus. I complained to him he gave me one vit. I ‘ll update the house on d result. @ omotititi pls shed more light for me on ur experiece on pol from animal care(the prce, d time of booking, transpotation, productivity, d breed et cetra.)

@ jamp thank you 4 d concern. I bought them as doc from CHI on 28 june 2013. I did all d necessary vaccination up to 19th week. My worry is that why only 1 egg for over a week? If you look at them physically more than half are fully matred. Should i start giving them layer feed? Or i should wait for all to look matured physicall[color=#990000][/color]y.
