jamp: Before 14wks.thank you jamp, unfortunatly i dont have contact directly from amo, i buy through d person dt supllies birds in my state. I live in Katsina State. |
Agrited is also good i tried thier broilers 300 only five dead up to maturity. But i dont know abt their layers, did any body knows? |
jamp: Am surprised at this cos I heard Amo is better than animal care cos they hv parent stock while animal care buys from CHI.specifically at what wk pls? |
Rzq4: Amo has a very gud breed @stock(isa brown). Howeva, av seen sum farmers complainin abh dia management. A farmer very close to me lost almost all his birds in d first 4wks due to hatchery problem. Anoda farmer complain of marek disease wc cld be as a result of a vaccine failure. 4me i cant take d risk of bookin in dia farm cos i live very close to wia dia farm is located in ilora. Nbg, watsup?so far so good today is 51% in their 28wks but d %tage is increasing daily by 1% dn 3% after every 3dayz app. 9% weekly. Secondly i have booked for amo which will come ds tuesday. What about yours? |
steel5800: pls was it a vet doctor that advised u on this? Cos we always debeak long b4 the birds start laying.no he is a poultry farmer for over 20years. He said since i delayed till they started laying i should have allow dm to 50% cos pol is very sensitive stage that need to be stress free. |
jamp: Thanks brother, thank God the birds are picking up now.eyyah i have similar experience but mine was not as bad as yours. I debeak them 3days after my first egg, within 5days their eating habbit resumed normal but some1 said that was contributed d delayed i experienced so far. He advised me not to debeak in future untill after 50% production |
@jamp how far wt your birds? No responce from you! |
jamp: Haba my fellow farmers, nobody bothered to ask me how far with my birds. Its not fairoo.how far jamp, what percentage & have you change to layer ration? |
kaura5000: please house what is the maximum egg laying ability for layers? for example if i stock 300 birds how many of them wont be laying?it depends on so many factors. Mostly, rangign from 75% to 90% it could be sligthly higher or lower in rear cases & d production declined as they grow older. |
steel5800: Hi guys. So sorry I haven't updated the house on my birds. Well I re stocked on dec 3rd and they will be 5weeks on tuesday. I bought 1600 while my mum bought 3100 but we lost alot on their first week due to poor handling while transporting them from ibadan to kano but they've since stabilised n hv stopped dying. I have about 1400+ now n they r doing very great. I've tried uploading pics but they are always too large to upload (about 2 to 3mb) and I'm always too busy nowadays to first send to my computer n compress b4 uploading. We gave them 24hr lighting during their 1st 4wks so as to enable them feed well n pick up fast. We also used charcoal for heating n there r 3 workers permanently on the farm. Heating has stopped now as the birds r big enough n we've also stopped giving them light at nights |

Okoli15: Hello Ola,if Ola is not interested in d matrix i want it. What is d model, price & is it reg or tok? I need d details & pix |
olamilekan1960: e gbami o my chickens are about 35 wiks and are yet to lay o pls help mi ani je gbese o.what is d breed, d source and are they healthy? Is their growth ok? |
jamp: Brother pls use charcoal, the heat from it is better. Buy head pan n pour the charcoal inside n place it on a block.ur pen space determine the number of head pans to buy.i got d charcoal but how effective d heat is? Will it not be weak b4 morning? |
obnelly: Yes you may use electric bulb like 200 watts ,I don't really support it but most people subscribe to that.for the fact that the intensity of light radiating from the bulb could damage the eyes of the chicks,.you will burn more fuel to run your generator.I normally use charcoal but using this you have to be very careful otherwise you will burn all your farm.we need to develop our simple farm technologies that can cater for most of these farm operation with minimal attention using our indeginous technology. Its one of the challenge in raising day old chicks.from my second picture above the heat coming from biofuel burning is so high that we can make some little modification and that will cater for space heating in brooding .we should operate farming with ease.so for now you need electricity to light and heating if your chicks aren't much or for experimental purpose go ahead. |

Nbg4real: Hello my fellow farmers! Pls in brooding process, can i use eletric bulb for both lightining & heating? Does the rays harm d birth? Pls d expart should help.pls don‘t ignore me i used kerozine stove & battery torch light for heating and lightining respectvely. So i‘m thinking of using electric bulb for both purpose is it feasable? |

What is the mileage? |
Rzq4: Can any1 in the house guess wat ds disease symptom is?is it swollen face? If yes then, it is respiratory diseas (either mycoplasmosis or new castle) |
micoco: Aii bro. Pardon me. Like d guy above me said, u cannot. U only cull and treat (thats if u want to because in some cases its just better u kill n properly dispose of d birds since treating will make u waste more resources and d birds may never recover fully, so it depends). I guess we were on d same page afterall. Pardon me once more bro. Cheersit is well bros. |
micoco: lol dude, antibiotics wont do anything. poultry(broilers n layers) have vaccination schedules right from wen dey are a day old. so u hv to follow dat vaccination program from day one. i am a Graduate Animal Scientist. so if u want to stock new day olds, i cld drop it here. no qualmsthough you are animal scientist you did‘nt understand “some one was asking whether he can vaccinate SICK birds i said no, VACCINATE ONLY HEALTHY BIRDS.“ we are all here to learn, if sick birds can be vaccinated pls shed more light |
edwill: thanks for your response. pls is there a treatment for polorum/newcastle? can vaccination be given while they are sick? thanksno you vaccinate only healthy birds. Just give dm antibiotic and vitamins. |
Rzq4: @nbg Am still @ 70percent. My flock had a severe crd ds past wk and i lost 2birds in d process. But today dey are bck in form wt bigger eggs. How are ur birds doing bro?sorry for d lost and thank God for their recovery i‘m still at 30%. @steel5800 have u stock again? |
jamp: Am stil seeing one egg everyday. They are 19wks and 2 days.they are on growers n if by 20wks they don't improve I will swtich over to layers. Am patiently waiting for all to mature fully.dt was wt i experinced 1egg for 10dayz but many more will come just add a little patince. I‘m now beating 30% at 25wks. |
Hello good day all. Hope you are enjoying d weather at ur farms. @jamp hope u‘r beating 50% now. @rzq4 2dayz hope ur birds are doing fine |
@jamp Congrats bros what is d development to day? |
