VisaOfficer: I want to thank you very much for the help, advise and the way you address peoples' concerns via this medium. I also want to apologize for the term "mislead" which I used in that statement. That wasn't the best word fitted for that statement. I just reasoned that since there are a set of documents listed for applicants to present in their interviews or pictures to prove relationships, the Warsaw post could have at least given direction as to what kinds of documents we could bring with us for the interview to prove our case instead of consistently using the phrase "you could have filled the correct information". That's all we wanted to do-to prove our case. We would have definitely proceeded with the application if it were to have been in Nigeria. I guess you guys have seen enough fraud to be able to differentiate between a true couple and a sham couple; genuine mistakes and fraudulently planned mistakes. I'd be Nigeria's worst hustler trying to hustle a fraudulent permanent residence through a lottery with very little odds when I could have very easily and conveniently taken the easier path of taking any of the 5 J1 visits(2009-2013 while studying 2 BSc degrees) > changing Visa categories in the US from J1 to F1 Master's level (which I'll finish in 3 months here in Poland btw)> marriage to US citizen/entry into job market > Permanent residence. All in approximately 2-3 yrs But on a more serious note, I doubt the Warsaw posts ability to adjudicate this case without bias to perfection in the "correct information" sense. We have decided to let this go till the future if the DV stays open and wifey get's lucky again since we are finally married now with our son and that's not changing (unless we have more children )so we would have the "correct information" the Warsaw post wants cos the major events (marriage and first child) would be past tense things. 2 Likes |

Travel / Re: U.S. Immigration Questions: Ask A U.S. Consular Officer by Ndeedee: 9:24pm On Feb 27, 2015 |
VisaOfficer: Hi Visa Officer, Thank you for your response. Your advise has been duly noted and will be used in weighing my decisions. Right now, KCC has finished processing our application and given us an interview date for the 2nd of April. I am still doubtful of continuing this application because the embassy in Warsaw is not helping at all with what should be common standardized knowledge to them - US immigration policy and law. They are handling it like something as simple as what you just explained from your understanding of US immigration law- " if you choose to continue, the officer will be most interested in making sure that you really are married to each other NOW and that you did not omit any spouse and/or children who existed at the time of your original entry" ... is the basis of the entire adjudication of our application when I have tried to let them know that this is just a small part of the entire application which they can help me understand. This is because a part of their FAQ says(I will highlight the areas of concern below) "3. Some of my family members did not appear on my original entry form into the Diversity Visa lottery. What should I do now? If your family situation has changed since you submitted your original entry to the Diversity Visa lottery (for instance, you have gotten married, divorced, or had a child since you entered), you will be allowed to submit a visa application that reflects your new family status. Applicants should take care to submit a visa application that includes any new family members or changes in family status. New family members will be eligible to apply for visas. If the family information you submitted on the original entry form was incorrect or incomplete at the time you entered the lottery, you will unfortunately be found ineligible for an immigrant visa. However, this is not a permanent ineligibility and you may become able to receive a diversity visa in subsequent years or receive a different class of employment or family based immigrant visa. You should tell the embassy’s consular section about any inconsistency in your personal data and family status as soon as you become aware of the inconsistency. Attempting to conceal an inconsistency could constitute misrepresentation in order to obtain an immigration benefit. Misrepresentation carries the serious penalty of a permanent ineligibility for a U.S. visa. Due to the importance of submitting a complete and accurate lottery entry, we strongly recommend that all applicants complete the online entry process themselves, without using an agency or intermediary, and that all applicants take care to verify their information before submitting the entry." that's why I need to be sure that we have not unforgivably broken the rules. As you know, there is no appeal process so if we get denied for such a silly reason this would affect my future travel plans and credibility which is something I value. I just sent them an email again yesterday to try for the last time to see if they will clear this up. If we have unforgivably broken the rules, let them just come out and say it instead of misleading me to go on with the application and getting denied in the end. If we are able to get it, it would be valuable but We are not that desperate to break rules in order to get the US permanent residence and can afford to not continue the process if we have unforgivably broken the rules. But like you have said..I am hoping they will come out and tell us that the officer will be most interested in making sure that we really are married to each other NOW and that we did not omit any spouse and/or children who existed at the time of our original entry. Meanwhile, I am gathering documents and the subject of the Police certificate came up. Before I left Nigeria in 2007, I made a Police Character Certificate which states that it expires 3 months after issue. Do you think that this expired Certificate would suffice for the period I lived in Nigeria while I get a fresh Police Certificate from Poland that would cover my stay since 2007 up till now Or would you advise me to have someone help me get a fresh Certificate from Nigeria which would accompany the other certificate I will be making here in Poland? (I wonder how they would make one in Nigeria in my absence since I would need to do some finger printing and I have the page with my fingerprints attached to the Certificate I have now) Also what else can be considered financial documents other than bank statements? Apartment ownership title? Vehicle ownership titles? To compliment what is in the bank. Thank you |
Travel / Re: Pls Help Pls : Poland Visa From Nigeria ,Does It Takes 3 Weeks NOW? by Ndeedee: 7:55pm On Feb 25, 2015 |
Pasdeprix: Wow!!! That's all I can say.. I don't believe you have lived in Poland and if you did then you probably came here on a visit or something. -You are Nigerian and don't know the Nigerian that was a mayor of a Polish city(I won't tell you the region or city name) who is now in the Polish congress? This same man that was responsible for bringing a delegation of Polish investors to Nigeria with the aim of trying to introduce Polish FDI to Nigeria. You seem to be really angry with Nigeria and kind of like have transferred this anger on Poland. This thread doesn't seem to be about where you are directing your points to. It's not about Nigeria being rich and having resources and having the potential to be better if only our govt n people will do whats right and our people needing to beg for visas to countries like Poland. Nobody goes out of Nigeria to Poland and intentionally plans to compound issues for other Nigerians and give Nigeria a bad name. Circumstances lead to that. When you say "Everyone traveling out want to give themselves the best opportunity but then not everyone is genuine" I really do not get your definition of genuine here. You talk of " if you're not sure of what you're coming here to do, getting it done, packing your bags and leaving when your time is up don't bother coming to cause problems for these people and disgrace your country" but then the people coming here are adults and they can make decisions for themselves. I wonder why you want to be a proxy immigration officer and deny people coming here. Let them make that choice by themselves after reading experiences from people like me and you. I totally understand what you mean when you talk of treatment genuine people going there receive. You don't have to state to me how we are seen. The treatment our people get is as a result of accumulation of bias and from negative perceptions of black people. How you "user: Pasdeprix" conduct yourself will contribute to how we are seen. If you haven't heard me give any advise to anyone coming to Poland. That's because I know that "my brothers" coming here are not children and they will adapt when they get here when they get how this country works. I never recommended any Polish girl to anyone...LOL. How did you even come to that conclusion? And how did I disrep Nigerian girls by saying that Polish girls are the best in Europe? When did Nigeria become an European country? Did you just say, "Our gals are beautiful with all d curves in the right places, just love n take care of their needs n u will be dir king. None is gonna wake up one morning n tell u she's fed up then call the Policja to deport u!" HAHAHAHAHA!!! Is that your definition of beauty? Let me highlight some worrisome areas of your description...."beautiful", "with all the curves in the right places" "just love and take care of their needs and you will be their king".....You seem to be the one disrespecting Nigerian women by describing them as needy dependent people who happen to be beautiful and curvy in the right places. Me, I like beauty, I live curvy women, I don't like needy women. and I don't want to be any woman's king. There are many Polish women too that fit into your description too.... For me beauty is not that important(there is too much beauty here to even care about beauty anymore..here, Unlike in Nigeria, I learned that everyone is beautiful in their own way and features), I like curvy women. I like women that are not totally dependent or needy, and I want a woman who will be my equal..(not king/slave or king/peasant woman or even king/ordinary woman kind of inequality).... If you have had a woman call Policja on you, then you don't need me or anyone else to tell you that she's not worth being your woman. Unfortunately there are women like that In Poland. Even in Nigeria too. But generally like I told you, I'll recommend a Polish woman before I would a Nigerian woman because of the needy factor which you even confirmed. So Nope, I have not painted Polish people all good. What I believe I have done is explain that there are good people and there are bad people everywhere you go....It's funny that you talked about a woman calling the Policja...It has happened to me only that it happened to me once in the USA and once in Poland(actually the Poland one was my younger brother because he walked an ex girlfriend out of the house after she threatened that she would make sure that me and my brother are deported if she can't be the one for me....so she went outside, banged her face against the elevator, and called Policja to say that my brother beat her) Thank God finally it wasn't much of a case and after telling a Policeman what actually happened, which he investigated and found to be true..The charges were dropped and he was asked to pay a fine...Just because of her claims and because the state has to protect her. It is these kind of women I advise Nigerian guys to stay away from thats why I said, if she has the guts to call Police on you, then she's not worthy for a relationship with you. I laughed when you talk of bad experiences....see that's why I said I'm not sure you were ever in Poland. If you were, you would know that every black person that lives in Poland has probably had at least 5 of those if you have lived here for up to 6 months. What kind of experiences have you had that I have not had x 50 of in the more unexposed and poor South of Poland? Is it skinheads and fights with racial troublemakers on the streets? Is it pretty girls that I picked up on the streets, brought home and they cleared my room ..stole all my perfumes, about $500 I had in my wallet, my MLB hats, and a bottle of Courvoisier Cognac I had in my fridge within the time frame of going to the bathroom to clean my shoes, is it the kicking out of her flat by a girlfriend I was living with after we had a fight?, Is it the framing of my younger brother by one of my ex girlfriends he walked out of our flat when I was not around -for assault on a Polish citizen by an ex girlfriend who threatened to make sure that me and my brother are deported if I don't come back to her? A very beautiful but dumb blonde girl...LOL. Is it the club experiences, is it Nigerian guys that break relationships of other Nigerians out of jealousy or those that cheat with your girlfriend behind your back or those who hate on you because you are financially self sufficient or those that would connive with skinheads to rob you? Dude, whatever kind of kasala, problem or experience you can think of...It has happened to me or those around me enough times by Nigerians and Polish people in and outside Poland which is why I said we should play advisory roles to our brothers who want to come here. You shouldn't discourage those who want to seek a better life from leaving the shores of Nigeria. Perhaps you don't know...Not that I am saying Poland is the best place ...but after living here for a while and comparing it to Nigeria....Nigeria right now is the worst place anybody can be living in right now. If Poland were that bad, I wonder why you haven't gone back to Nigeria to live that survival of the fittest life where if you don't know someone, you cannot progress. On the part where you said I shouldn't make irrelevant comparisons on the Next top model subject. My guy...See thats why I question if you really lived in Poland and when I say lived I mean really lived in Poland - not visited. Else why would you mistake Poland's own version of Top model for the International top model. FYI. The difference is that in the international top model, the contestants are from different parts of the world. In the Polish version, the contestants are only citizens or permanent residents of Poland alone. Now having explained that....the fact that a Polish-Nigerian(born to 2 Nigerian parents) as black as you and me but who is a Polish citizen, was in that contest and not just participated but won it should tell you something about Poland. The fact is that they are not used to black people here since its an all white country so the people are curious when they see us black people. (Let me help you understand the connection between curiosity and racial troublemakers in Poland. When they see you they get curious. Their Curiosity evokes a reaction seek for your attention by looking for your trouble. The best thing you can give to this group of people is to give them 1 sec of your time. Starve them of attention or that experience of exchanging words with you and it would make them feel like shyt. They are like girls that want your attention too...just like their women want your attention. Try it, it works.) Curiosity can make people do different things. It can arouse bias and it can arouse genuine interest. How you handle what comes after tells the kind of person you are. Osi Ugonoh wouldn't have won that contest of not for the fact that her participation aroused the right kind of curiosity in Poland and she fits the Polish description of physical beauty.(Joke: You and I probably know a thousand even prettier lepa shandy Nigerian girls that would have won that thing easy). Osi looks ordinary to me because I am a full blooded Nigerian man and I know what we Nigerians know as beautiful. But then I am glad she won it because her participation sparked the right kind of curiosity. "My wife even used money from her fone and my fone to vote for her, all her friends did too, her mom and friends of her mom that know me did too..because I represent black people well.". Sure there are !diots that would say rubbish but then I would advise you to walk away and stop processing comments from racists...Giving them your time energizes them so I don't even bother myself about people that have such extreme views of my skin color. Ehen, now you're talking....."All visa and living in Poland related questions are welcome. We're here to help." 5 Likes |

Pasdeprix: Guy, take it easy. You can't just be handing it out to your hosts like that. While I agree with you that the grass is not greener here and that if any of our Nigerian brothers here have an opportunity to go and study in places like UK, USA, Canada they should take it, I quite disagree with the attitude you are attaching to it as if this is the worst place in Europe. If you think it is that bad here in Poland, why not cross over to our neighbors here Ukraine to see how life is there talk less of places like Russia. 6 Likes |

Chai!!! I am so jealous of you guys in Nigeria. Look at the way questions for the Visa officer are coming from all nooks and crannies and getting answered straight to the point. I have been trying to get the US embassy in Warsaw through their contact email to clear up something for me which is written on their website so that I can know how it applies to us in my wife's DV Visa lottery case but all I have been getting from them are answers which are not helpful to me in my bid to make a decision on whether to continue with the application or to stop See better service here. I am really jealous of you guys in Nigeria O. But my question to the Visa officer is this. If we decide not to follow through with our DV Visa lottery case(after we have filled the DS 260 few months back and submitted it). We have not heard from KCC yet. Can a decision to not pursue my wife's case further be used against us in future if we were to want to visit the USA say in year 2016 after the DV2015 must have ended? I have asked about my situation here before where I received a reasonable advise that the situation surrounding our case is not something that should warrant us being deemed as ineligible or disqualified from getting the DV Visa(asides from the other criteria looked at when adjudicating a DV case). I tried to see what the US embassy in Warsaw had to say about it but they keep saying the information we filled was incorrect .[based on the situation i.e filled in the DV as married while we were engaged and about to get married and first moved the marriage from September end because of grandfather's(father figure) death and cancelled and moved the marriage a second time (about the time we filled the lottery) based on doctors advise surrounding my wife's becoming pregnant in this period again (Bear in mind that she had done two surgeries about 5 months before this concerning something that was preventing previous pregnancies from developing further which resulted in about 3 miscarriages. Which by the way we can prove if given the chance). We postponed it till the next available date that was open to us in June when we finally got married. ] . On their website they put a notice saying that if the information you filled in your marital status was incorrect you will be ineligible to receive a Visa. Their email responses to me have always borne the phrase, "What you filled was incorrect" but that a consular officer will decide when he hears the case, even though I have pointed out the fact that the main DV instructions do not say anything about my case and only says if one doesn't fill in the name of a spouse or children that they would be disqualified. And that the Foreign Affairs Manual also doesn't say anything about this. They keep saying that a consular officer will decide. I once got a response from them that we should have filled the right option(to them) -single to which I responded that if there was a better option that captured an "engaged" couple, it would be married not single since there was nothing in between and that it was subject to ones own interpretation to which they went on to still say a consular officer will decide. I am afraid that their answers give hints that the consular who might handle it there will not be willing to even look deeply at the totality of factors that have an effect on this case. Like how even my own tribal values and traditions as an Igbo Nigerian affect the view of us being a legit couple since our families have been introduced and we have the blessing of our parents even like a year before we applied for the DV(like in a hybrid traditional marriage done on skype). We are not that desperate even though if we were able to get the DV it will be an option 1 for us and our son in 2015 to move to the US after I finish my masters degree in June. If we were that desperate then I would have stayed back in the US like many of my friends did in any of my five previous consecutive J1 visits to the US while completing 2 BSc degrees. So we are thinking of not pursuing this case any further and investing the energy on maybe going to Norway or Scotland/England after I finish school but we want to know how this will affect us in future if we discontinued/withdrew from the process and didn't show. |

Hi Visa Officer, I am Nigerian living in Poland.. and I will like to know the Warsaw Poland equivalent of the LagosIV@state.gov email which can be used to contact the US consulate in Warsaw for an Immigrant (DV) related question regarding my situation which I have discussed here before. I have sent a few emails to the publicwaw@state.gov email which I got from their website with no responses. I would really appreciate it if I can get an email with which to contact the Immigrant(DV) Visa section or any DV handling Visa officer of the Warsaw consulate. Thanks. |

Empress2014: Well it depends on what we Nigerians know as scholarship... The kind of scholarship that is offered which I know of depends on your GPA. If your GPA is of a certain limit/range, you are entitled to some percentage off of your tuition or a small amount of money to help in your upkeep.(per month for the semester) Note. The money can be like half of the cost of your accommodation expense. Which is still something I believe. |

I was recently asked by my University in Poland to help them source for students in Nigeria. (Real students wey wan study O). So I will use this forum to ask interested parties to indicate their interest through commenting below. If there will be at least 15-25 interested candidates then I will talk to the guys here and we will see how we can make this work. Available courses in English Undergraduate Programmes(6 semesters of 3 academic years...except logistics which is 7 semesters comprising 3.5 academic years) Information Technology, Aviation Management, International Management, Finance and Accounting - NEW, Financial Management - NEW, Logistics - NEW, Physiotherapy - NEW, Hospitality Management. Undergraduate study tuition: 1500 Euros. But payment of 2150 Euros in advance is required which will include 1,500 Euros for first semester tuition, 150 Euros for admissions and 500 Euros as excess payment which will be carried on as excess payment to second semester so you would only have to pay 1,000 Euros for the next semester of the first academic year, while the full payment of 1,500 per semester will be required for every semester from the 2nd academic yr of studies. Graduate Programmes(4 semesters of 2 academic yrs) Information Technology, International Management, Logistics in Transport - NEW, Hospitality Management Graduate study tuition: 1750 Euros. But payment of 2650 Euros in advance is required which will include 1,750 Euros for first semester tuition, 150 Euros for admissions and 750 Euros as excess payment which will be carried on as excess payment to second semester so you would only have to pay 1,000 Euros for the next semester of the first academic year, while the full payment of 1,750 per semester will be required for every semester of the 2nd academic yr of studies. The above payment does not include accommodation and living costs!(Those can be arranged by the University for you which you would have to pay for with a budget of 200 Euros per month). The University offers internships to it's students for a minimum of 3 months. The University also offers Scholarships to the best international students! Please indicate your interest or post questions of concern if interested and I will try to answer them below. . . . . Let's see how many we can get by December 31st. Some common questions that you might have are... Q: Can I apply for scholarship? -x All international students may come with scholarships from home or apply for scholarships within bilateral agreements which your home countries have on direct cooperation offered through Bureau for Academic Recognition and International Exchange (www.buwiwm.edu.pl)...of which Nigeria has none. -x Scholarships for students from European Union are offered within the framework of the Socrates/Erasmus program (www.socrates.org.pl). ----> University scholarships are available for academic excellence. If your GPA is solid, you can get scholarships in the form of a percentage off your tuition or a nominal fee paid per month for the 5 months in a semester . Q: How much money do I need for living in Poland? Apart from your tuition.... From my calculations this is the break down of a typical monthly expense... Accommodation: University dormitory: 400-600pln . Shared flat: depending on how many you are..> 600pln Transportation: 60pln for a monthly bus pass(for any connection) I normally advise friends to look for accomodation close to the school so that you can walk to school and back in less than 10-20 mins. Feeding: Depends on your eating habits and what you like to eat. If you are the type that can cook at home which is the cheapest means of survival, then based on supermarket prices you should be comfortable with anything from 180 - 300pln per month. NB: 1 Euro = 4.23 PLN 2 Likes |

VisaOfficer: I've never been arrested ever in my life in Nigeria, Poland, The USA or in the other places I've been. I'll read up in the forum on what kind of Police Certificate I need and get a member of my family in Nigeria to help me get and send the Police Certificate from Nigeria and maybe with the new Birth certificate or statement or Affidavit, whichever they can lay their hands on.....for the sake of having everything they might require in Warsaw. Also I don't know if we were wrong to have filled out "Other document" in the travel document section of the DS 260 for our son, because he's 9 weeks old now and as at when we finally had the chance to settle down and send our DS 260s, we had just got some other documents to establish his identity. I'm hoping we can have his passport ready before our interview which might come up in March 2015 (EU 185XX). Oh and on the vaccination thing, I really don't know which shots I got in Nigeria and which ones I would need to get when we go for the medicals. I'll read the forum and see if I can get hints on how many and which ones I can expect to get. Thanks... It is really too exciting... Mama Obi and Baby Obi make me feel like I am in 7th heaven. I just pray for this DV thing to favor us and it will be 7th heaven part two for me. |

Hi Visa Officer...I'm back again with some more questions and I'm hoping you'll be able to give me hints as to what to do. So you prolly know my situation. But I'll give a recap just in case it's a different Visa officer reading this. My fiance turned wife and I had planned to get married in late September 2013 before I went to the US on the J1 Work and Travel program Before I returned we lost a dear member of her family (her grandfather and father figure who died on Sept 3 2013). The mood was not right for a civil union then so we extended the time till the start of November. (Side note: Before this time we had been trying to have a child unsuccessfully due to a condition she had and she was operated on a few times to remove what was causing her miscarriages everytime she would take in.) In middle of October 2013, she started feeling really bad and a visit to the doctor confirmed that she had taken in. So our marriage plan for Saturday 3rd November continued and as the wedding day approached we filled the DV 2015 as married and included me as her spouse derivative but then we went to her doctor to confirm that this pregnancy won't have a problem since she had been pregnant several times before and suffered a few miscarriages so we went to make sure that the thing that was causing her miscarriages which were surgically cut off twice in the summer of 2013 would not pose a threat to this pregnancy and while discussing with him we mentioned that we were going to get married to which he advised that we postpone the marriage so that he could make absolutely sure that other factors outside the known one wouldn't interfere with this pregnancy till it get's to an advanced stage so we should reschedule the marriage for later to make extra sure that all would be well. So we cancelled again and rescheduled for after the Winter when the pregnancy would be in a stable and advanced stage. She was selected for the DV 2015 when we checked sometime in mid May. I got denied the J1 Visa in the last days of May We finally got married in the first week of June. Baby came in the first week of July. About this the Visa officer that responded in the previous thread said our case was not one for disqualification. That if we were already married before the application and she had failed to include my name on the initial entry, we would have been subject to disqualification but as long as this was not the case especially as our explanation made sense we are fine and wont be disqualified or punished because of this which I noted but I have since come up with a few other questions since I am in Poland and I reckon a few documents may be sought from me since I left Nigeria 7 years ago. My latest questions now are the following.. (I'm asking you guys because I can't seem to get a response about this issue from the US embassy in Warsaw and they don't have an innovative platform to liaise with applicants like you guys in Nigeria do via here.) In your opinion, would I need the following 1. A police certificate from Nigeria, (or the US since I've had five J1 work and travel Visits which allowed me work in the US for at least 4 months a piece up till 2013) ...(I ask because of what I read that I'd have to provide a police certificate for all places I've lived at least a yr in since attaining the age of 16) 2. My Original WAEC result from Nigeria to show that I finished high school. (I couldn't get this very WAEC Certificate, the original one from my high school before leaving Nigeria and had to make do with the statement you get when you use a scratch card ..which shows my results because my school had some data mismatch problems from WAEC for my graduation set which had to do with the handing of schools back to their missionary owners that occurred in yr 2000 or 2001. This affected the production of the original certificates for my graduation set before the school was handed back to the missionary.. . The only way to check this result is through directly contacting the school or via a scratch card. But I also passed and have the WAEC GCE result which I could also provide. October/Nov ) I don't know what to do in this situation. 3. The birth certificate because I came here with the old registration of birth certificate and don't have the new one. (Bearing in mind that my wife is the principal applicant and that I have been a student here for 7 continuous yrs in Poland with no visits to Nigeria in this period and would be completing my Master's degree in June/July of 2015) Or whatever other documents you think I would need to show. Your advice would be greatly appreciated |

Just popped in to check on you man. Congrats on the Visa and the opportunity to pursue a new chapter in your life. You sabi tell story well well....Yours was one of the most detailed experiences.... See as emotions dey hold me while I was reading your story even though I knew the outcome already.... I was LMBO @ the part where you said you made a gesture that you were searching for the pic and said you didn't bring it with you. You should think about the prospects of writing novels in future... Once again congrats bro. 2 Likes |
