A Boko Haram attack on Damaturu, Yobe State's capital was successfully repelled by the Nigerian military.



There were viral eyewitness account of loud gunshots and artillery fire in the North East State capital on social media in the late hours of yesterday December 22, an incident that led to early closure of houses and businesses.





Premium Times reported that the Spokesman of Sector II of Operation Lafiya Dole, Damaturu, Njoka Irabor said “the insurgents made an attempt to enter Damaturu from the northern flank of the town but were given a heavy blow by both air and ground troops. Damaturu is now calm and “details of the attack will be relayed by tomorrow”.





It was further learnt that vehicles including the Governor's convoy trying to get to the town were stranded as the military officials blocked the roads leading into the town.





One of the journalists in the Governor's convoy wrote;

“Sir. please this is to inform you that presently military at Damaturu entrance from Maiduguri have closed and blocked the highway not allowing motorists entrance into Damaturu since 3-4 pm. Over 200 heavy and small private and commercial vehicles are stranded. Some are going for Xmas in Gombe, Yola, Kani, Kaduma, Abuja, Jos and others. Even Gov Zulum convoy is now stranded on the road in Damaturu. We learnt that intelligence said BHTs said they will enter Damaturu from Gashau axis but the military has not made any explanation yet. People helpless and afraid of being attacked by BHTs from the bushes at worst without any security with them. Govs Press Crew and Correspondents Chapel of NUJ are also on the convoy. Thanks. Please help these innocent motorists and passengers."

“My husband threw I and my 6 month baby out aug 31st. I am an orphan. He then went to my uncles and told them he is no longer interested in the marriage. .



My uncles told him that our family is ok with his decision. Two weeks after, he called me to move back to his house. I was happy to reconcile so I went back to his house. .



I went back on monday. Since I returned, everyday he comes back by 11pm, 12am smelling of alcohol and cigar which was part of the reasons for the split in august. .



So I confronted him that he is not doing anything about his heavy daily drinking habit and now he has added late nights to it. He closes work by 3pm where he goes from 3pm to 12am, I do not know. .



He told me I have no right to ask him where he goes, why he comes in late or how he drinks and he will beat me up if I ask him such questions (b4 now he had threatened that my family will pick my dead body).



Around 12am, on this fateful day, I started looking for key to lock the door so I can sleep. I couldn't find my key. I asked him, he said he has retrieved the house key from me. I said ok and I went to bed. .



Then I noticed he was going out again. This was 12 30am. I went to him and asked that he gives me the door keys so I can lock the door. He has his own set of keys. He said “no,” that I should sleep with the door open. .



I said that wont happen for the safety and security of I and my baby. So we dragged the keys and he tried to beat me up. I screamed all our neighbour's gathered. I had only wrapper on and the wrapper fell and I was naked. .



With the intervention of the neigbours he released the key and drove off. I locked the door. By 1am, he returned and said I and my baby must move out that night. I told him to wait till morning he said “never.”



That we must move out in the dead of the night. I said he should park my load out then and I will go with my baby. By 1 30am he parked all my belongings out of the house and carried me to my father’s house. The marriage is over and I leave him to God and his conscience.”

Lankford, who has a prior offense for a 2014 domestic violence incident, has been charged with aggravated assault.

Police said the student was taken to a local hospital. She is still recovering from severe injuries. Lankford was taken to the Hays County Jail, but she posted bond on Saturday.

The teen's family released a statement through their attorney, Paul Batrice, saying that they were horrified by the incident.

A video that has gone viral on social media captured moment a bribe-taking policeman lied to his colleagues about the amount he collected from a motorist.

Though the date and location the incident occurred was not immediately available at the time of filing this report, the yet-to-be identified policeman was however seen in the four-minute video arguing with the motorist in Pidgin-English.

The bribe-taking policeman sought for N20k from the motorist who held out a wad of 1,000 naira notes.

The man who was instructed to smoke weed in church during a church programme Rev Obofour preached in, has accused him of reneging on his promises after hiring him for the act.

You will recall that it was recently reported that Rev. Obofour told Razak to smoke some weed so he could deliver him from the habit of smoking in a church programme organised by one Ghanaian preacher, Abruku Abruka.

Razak said he was given the weed by Abruku who told him that Rev. Obofour will call him out. He told Thunder TV that he was further instructed to obey and carry out all he is asked to do in exchange for money and a shopping spree, but he is yet to get any.

Rev Obofour however denied the claim and also stated that he has never paid anyone to lie about anything or act for him to get praises. He accused one Nana Agradaa of trying so hard to tarnish his image because of his upcoming 31st Night crusade which last year pulled over 16,000 people.

The Ghanaian Pastor warned that henceforth he is not going to sit back and watch people tarnish his image publicly. He affirmed that he will fight back because overtaking is allowed in business.
