I do wish her the best ,if she had shown diligence at work prior to fasting I would've understood but she's made it a habit,I must add that we've reached a compromise and that she closes by 3pm after a trully effective day(not overworked). Its past her closing time, why hasn't she closed from work? If you closed from your own work place between 5:00pm-5:30pm, and it took you about 30minutes to drive to your shop. In other words, what you are complaining happened around 6:00pm and you still expect her to be working vigorously. What time do your employees close from work? 8-9pm?

Her duties are as follows
1) She does the job of a receptionist
2) She assist the other man in removing stubborn stains
3) She does the job of a delivery-man
This lady does the job of three people and yet you got angry she wasn't washing your clothes anymore around 6pm when she should have closed. Yet you couldn't even let her close on time despite she said she was fasting.

an agreement was reached that work ends 5:30pm,agreement was reached abt her line of work. She wasn't forced.
Besides as stated earlier the business just opened recently,even the delivery is twice a week!!she's not a receptionist in a public hospital or a hotel customers aren't actually streaming in and in terms of helping the laundry man manually wash the collars/armpit areas she's paid seperately for that oh!!
So before you label me whatever or criticise me for slavery look at it clearly not from you point of view as Dangote's 1st son but with an open and clear mind. What else would I 'ave done or should've I done and still keep the business afloat?
Same way i've learnt to swallow insults is the same way i've had to endure her excesses over the past few months of her working here

Business owner you should really be patient and understanding, however her response is a bit harsh but we can always attribute that to her educational training or lack of it.

As indicated by some posters above, energy levels are reduced in this period although some people can perform optimally in this fasting period while.some can not, she happens to fall in the latter category.

I would suggest that you should not look at her as if she were fasting instead as if she was in her last month of her pregnancy cycle. Just because you do not see a heavy tummy at the moment does not mean she can work optimally. Please do try to understand by giving her lesser work or by giving her her standard work earlier in the day and less energy consuming work in the latter part of the day.

I am sure if you wander somewhere in your heart and that genius business owner brain of yours you will find a workable solution along this solution line i proferred. PLS pay the salary in full too. Blessings awaits you as you do so.

Humm, This is a matter you need to handle with care, for me, I support that fasting is not reason for laziness, but I believe you can do something to solve this issue, like: start talking to this person as a boss and let her understand how important her job is. The question is, Is she lazy before fasting? Can she manage fasting and work at the same time? Can her job be reduced a bit? Can you bargain with her for this period of fasting? like: Can you work half-day and get half month salary then you get someone to complement her rest of day work then you pay the person too same half month salary and some other this you can think about, just to get your problem solve and beware Nigeria, Africans generally always have issues with each other when its comes to issue of religion, like My Boss is a Christian and He is Victimizing Me! something like that. May God help you, help your business and grant you wisdom to solve this.

the half-day/half month salary option seems cool but she'll likely not cooperate,how much work would she be able to sincerely put together in about 4hrs,not as if she's always been a hard worker prior....i really don't know what to do with this lady,and this is when God don bless us with a good number of clients this month

Since you have found the reason for her being slow in the discharge of her duty to be that she's fasting, just find a way to assist her or get someone to do that just for the month of fasting.

Open a laundry mart 3months ago with just 2 staff members. Despite our owning a big washing machine the laundry man's function is ironing,removing tough stains and operating the machine. The 2nd employee's task is to go deliver those clothes to clients,compliment the laundry man's job of manual removal of tough stains and reception work.

Don't get it wrong. It's not about a blame game. Passing blames stopped years ago after territorial independence.
