Our house rent in phase4 is almost a million, not to talk of the new estates, flats..

Even the kubwa village, bazango, biagy and across, you will hardly get a house for less than 300k, my friend staying in far biagy across close to the mountain ( almost the end of biagy across, pays 3500k in a two bedroom flat.

Reports have it that the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has successfully hacked into the system of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC with the help of an Uromi man Barr Austin Okojie who presided over the Akwa Ibom Election, and replaced details of the authentic voter’s register in some local government areas of the state with a fake.

The move is ostensibly calculated to disenfranchise eligible voters and supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the affected areas. Very reliable INEC source disclosed that the affected areas are mainly in Edo north senatorial districts, particularly Etsako East and West local government areas, support base of the APC.

The source explains that initial findings by INEC indicate that the names of most voters in, for instance, Ogbona and environs have been removed from the original voter’s register and replaced with fictitious ones. But for the discovery and postponement of the election, the development would have made it impossible for registered voters, particularly members and supporters of the APC in most of the units in the area, to cast their ballot. “You know the implication of developments like this one. If we have not discovered the development, a lot of voters would not have been able to vote on election day”, the source explained.

The source also stated that the development is part of the reasons INEC decided to postpone the election having discovered that the unfortunate development would have unduly tilted the outcome of the election in favour of the party.

“While going routine checks, we found out that our system has been compromised. Specifically, we discovered that some of the voter’s register from some parts of the state, particularly from Edo north, have been duplicated, with original voter’s name replaced. We are still trying to ascertain the level of involvement of some of our staff”, the source disclosed.
Only recently, the PDP alleged that indeed, INEC computers have been hacked. The party also pointed accusing fingers at the ruling All Progressives Party, APC, acting in connivance with a staff of the electoral body. However, latest development has put a lie to the party’s claim as a smart diversionary tactic.

Meanwhile, reports also have it that though INEC gave the impression that it was not in support of initial postponement of the election, it actually accepted to postpone the election as soon as it discovered the infraction. This medium gathered that security reports from both the police and Directorate of State Security, DSS, made the postponement inevitable. However, the electoral body found itself on a tight corner as it received reports that the PDP had mobilized certain groups to organize protest matches across major towns across the state. It therefore, decided to make the first announcement to the effect that the election would take place as scheduled in order to forestall the demonstration.

Obviously, announcement achieved its aim as soon as protesters already mobilized went back home and could not return to the street when the electoral body issued a reversed statement to the effect that the election had been postponed by almost three weeks.
