DELTA STATE MINISTRY OF INFORMATION EMMANUEL UDUAGHAN WAY, ASABA May 6, 2015 Press release NCAA DOWN GRADE OF ASABA AIRPORT On April 27, 2015, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) effected a down grade of Asaba Airport following the directive for the rehabilitation of the existing runway, taxiways and the construction of perimeter fence as well as training of technical personnel. By the directive, only Dash 8 – Q 400 planes or their equivalent will continue to operate through the airport until the issues raised are resolved while all Boeing 737s and jets of similar category will be barred. The issues raised by the NCAA have been known to the Delta State Government which has already set in motion the machinery for effecting the upgrades demanded by the regulatory agency. First, His Excellency, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, Governor of Delta State, has approved the rehabilitation of the Runway and Taxiways in the airport. Similarly, the Governor has approved the engagement of a seasoned consultant to supervise the rehabilitation exercise. The Government is vigorously processing the mobilization of the contractor and the consultant for the job to commence in earnest. Already, work on the perimeter fencing has commenced. However, there is additional acquisition of over 400 hectares of adjoining land which has increased the scope of work. To boost security within the airport axis, the Government has employed 20 security guards to carry out routine surveillance of the airside. On the training of requisite technical personnel, all the staff recently employed by the State Government have undergone the four-week mandatory basic training at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Training School, Lagos in 2013. Arrangement has reached advanced stage for sending them on specialized training relevant to their various departments. It should be noted that Airports are permanent construction sites the world over and regulatory agencies which in Nigeria is the NCAA have the mandate to oversight all the airports and may from time to time raise any concerns thereof. The down grade in the status of Asaba Airport has not in any way affected the operation of scheduled commercial flights in and out of the airport. Arik Air, Aero Contractors and Overland Air which operate scheduled daily flights has since deployed the right aircraft specification and are providing seamless services to passengers. We hereby assure the general public that the Delta State Government is committed to effecting the upgrade of the facilities directed by the NCAA promptly and the status of Asaba Airport will soon be restored to accommodate bigger jets such as the Boeing 737. The airport is critical to consolidating the emerging economic frontier created by the airport which has become one of the few viable ones in the country. Signed CHIKE C. OGEAH Esq Honourable Commissioner for Information |

For us the answer is very simple, when we were presented with the party flag as party flag bearer, we were here to dedicate it to God and he saw us through the general elections. "To win a war it starts with battles and for us when you win a battle you run to God for thanksgiving for his protections. "Now that we have won the elections and presented with the Certificate of Returns and having taking covenant with God that if he takes us this far we will come back to thank Him for his mercies and faithfulness. We have therefore come here today to dedicate our Certificate of Return to God almighty." He said. "We also believe that when you thank him for the little he has done he will do more. We have therefore come here believing God that come June 2015 we shall be sworn-into office to represent our people at Asaba." Comrade Izeze used the opportunity to thank the good people of Oginibo Community and Ughelli South in general for voting massively for him and all the PDP candidates including President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Governor-Elect Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, Senator-Elect Chief Ighoyota Amori, House of Reps Member-Elect Hon. How I will be remembered - Uduaghan By Nelson Egware Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan has said he will like to be remembered for the milestones and infrastructural developments he has attracted to different parts of the state since he mounted the saddle eight years ago. Governor Uduaghan was speaking while addressing newsmen recently in Warri. The Governor said there are lots of projects, programmes and polices that has endeared his administration to Deltans which he will surely be remembered for. I think people from different background, interests or locations would remember me for different reasons “The woman who now has strong confidence in safe delivery in public health facilities through the free maternal health services will remember me for that. “Those living in Avenue would remember me for the dualized Avenue Road, same for those in Refinery Road, Effurun Flyover, those in Ughelli will remember us for the Dualized Ughelli township road, the people of Umeh in Isoko South will remember us for the Umeh road and bridges while those at Aradhe, Ushie, Ashaka and Aboh will remember us for their roads and bridges. At Ovwor-Olomu and Oginibo in Ughelli South, they will remember us for their roads and Olomu bridge, Abigborodo for their road and bridges and even those in Asaba for over 64 roads completed including the Dualized Ezenei Avenue, DBS road, Old Anwai Road, Junior Staff Quarter road, Agric road, Federal College Road, Cabinet complex road and the Asaba flyover, Airport and new Government House." For the people of Aradhe, to Oloa Ossissa they will remember us for the Dualized section B of the Ughelli Asaba road, at Ode-Itsekiri we will be remembered for Trans Ode Itsekiri roads and bridges, all over the state we will be remembered for the the new schools we have built and the old ones we have rehabilitated to world class standards. "Again we have also left a legacy of peace and mutual cooperation among all Deltans. There is relative peace and tranquility across Delta State which can be ascribed to our peace and security agenda. No doubt we will be leaving Delta State much better than we met in 2007." Governor Uduaghan commended Deltans for the support given to his administration over the years and urged them to extend same support and cooperation to the Governor-Elect Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa.

IZEZE AN EPITOME OF HUMILITY AND SERVICE TO HUMANITY By Nelson Egware "The success of men are in their stories" - Dr David Oyedepo The success of Comrade Barrister Reuben Oghenerume Yakubu Izeze is indeed in his story as has never been told before. From a very humble beginning he rose to limelight with a dint of hard work patience and perseverance. As the son of an Old Soldier, Comrade Izeze is a very disciplined man whose home background is said to have accounted largely for his humble disposition. The Comrade is a man who never loafed around despite having a rich Uncle in Warri. He did all manner of menial jobs in Warri ranging from Security Guard to bricklayer in a bid to raise money to go to school. His sojourn to Delta State was the turning point in his life when he attended Petroleum Training Institute, PTI Effurun. He was Speaker of the Students Union Government where issues concerning students were largely taken care of. He later became Public Relations Officer of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS). When he graduated from school, he was later appointed Special Assistant on Students Affairs to Governor James Ibori. Because of the love he has for the masses, Comrade Izeze turned down a multi-millionaire job offer with Oil Giants Exxon Mobil to take up appointment with the Delta State Government as Special Assistant to the Governor on Protocols. Due to his hard work and loyalty he was promoted to Senior Special Assistant on Protocol in 2011, a position he occupied until he resigned in 2014 to contest as a Member Delta State House of Assembly, Ughelli South Constituency. As Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Protocols, he used his position to influence the construction of Ukpedi Road connecting Agbowhiame, Erhuwharen, Obi-Ayagha and Oginibo Communities in Ughelli-South LGA. It is also on record that the Comrade who believes in the universality of one mankind has also influenced the employment of over 1,000 Deltans in pensionable jobs. He has provided astute leadership to the Comrade Community in Delta State. In his campaign promise to the people of Ughelli South, Comrade Izeze said "Specifically, by the grace of God and as a Comrade, we do not intend to make promises that we cannot fulfill. The essence of a law maker is to make laws and if we are giving the opportunity to speak we will make laws to enforce law and order. Laws that will bring law and order to Deltans because without Law and Order, society will be in chaos. That is the essence of law making. "Our laws will be driven by the needs of our people, we shall adopt the bottom up approach and this we will do by holding regular constituency meetings with our people such that their needs and aspirations will be conveyed to us such that when we are appropriating, we will be appropriating based on the needs of our people and not on our own whims and caprices. "Our promise to the people of Ughelli South is that when we stand to represent them we will put the interest of the entirety of Ughelli South first before any other consideration they will be represented. That in a committee of equals when a Com. Izeze is speaking among his equals on their behalf they will be proud to say indeed this is our son in whom we are well pleased. That is my solemn promise to the good people of Ughelli South". As the campaign for the 2015 Governorship and House of Assembly Election ends today, it is note worthy to say that people of Ughelli South Local Government is blessed to have an industrious son like Comrade Izeze to represent them at the Delta State House of Assembly.

Kudos to our amiable Governor Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan |
We need a pedestrian bridge at pti junction, it would hv been better if u did that, there are a lot of Bad roads in Effurun and Warri, As a matter of fact you have destroyed the good road that was done during the ibori's adminstration with your useless BRT lane which is now a Death trap to Road users and pedestrians. If you don't know what a BRT lane looks like, why not go to Lagos and ask Fashola.
