Exactly wat I'm saying. Perhaps wat they wanted was exactly mining engineering, and like u said with preference to FUTA. I know there's transparency in the process. So I'm not tryna say they used connection or sometin. Just simplYly sayinf they perhaps didn't pay any attention to test scores in cases where they had other stronger criteria. So the interview isn't really a reflection of the test performance. Atleast for Mining department. Quote me on that. Note: I'm only sayin dis on the basis of the info dat test score of 31 was invited for mining o.

Well bro I really don't know the criteria they adopted in selecting people for the interview invite. To the best of my knowledge, they have been transparent in the selection process so far unless they change in the final stage of the recruitment process. The five people that were invited for Automobile studied Mechanical engineering but they chose Automobile during the application, had they chosen Mechanical engineering none of them would have been invited for the interview because their scores were below the cut off mark for Mechanical. Though almost all the 13 people invited for Mining studied pure Mining Engineering from FUTA Akure. In everything just keep the hope alive, God has bigger things waiting for you in a different place.

Abaaaaah. 31 for mining and I wasn't invited... I could remember mining questions were 40 dat day. And I answered over 30 correctly, cos was really cheap for me being from geology background, so i had time to cross check and was just a few, perhaps less than 10 I wasn't sure. Lets say for the benefit of doubt i got 25/40 there, for which i know i got way more than that. Then the general questions, i can't say I did dat well. That was the tough for everybody. Buh even at that there were some of the question there that I got straight up, my summarized count gives atleast 20 sure ones like dat. There were verbal and other non engineerin related questions na. So lowest i feel i should have scored wld be 45. Thats why hearing a 31 was invited is weird. Meaning I scored less than 30. It twas school i cld boldly contest that result. Buh yet again. For the benefit of doubt I'll just assume they used negative marking or perhaps they removed people that didn't study exactly mining engineering therefore ruling out doz that studied geology. Well anyhow, i have alreadt let go, just dat hearing dis 31 gettin an invited is really makin it kinda strange. Congrats u all who will make it. See u at d top

I am currently at the interview venue. From the list of the invited candidates , those that scored the highest are having their interview today. The list of invited candidates ,their scores and their departments is distributed as follows:

1. Mechanical..... five(5) people were invite. Their scores are as follows: one(1) person scored the overall highest --73,three (3) people scored the same mark each --67 , the fifth person scored 62.
2.Electrical.... five(5) people were invite. Their scores are as follows: 1st person scored--52, 2nd person scored----50, 3rd person scored---45,4th person--43,5th person---40.
3.Automobile.... 1st person scored---47, 2nd person--40, 2 peoplescored 39 each, 5th person---32.
4.Mining...... 13 people were invited from mining. The highest score from mining is 55 while the lowest score is 31.

No Chemical person was invited for the interview.
It therefore means that all departments have invited for today's interview except chemical guys. I don't why chemical people were not invited for today's interview maybe theirs will come up later.

Okay, so I called the HR and she said they had quite a number of turnout and as a result, those that couldn't make it won't be considered.

Did you try finding out wen they will contact us? Or did u hear anytin about it?? Then wat prompted u to say u feel they will not call of us. We were not upto 50 and doesn't seem they have indicated to reschedule others.

I have to say I was actually very impressed with the setting. It was great and they showed good consideration by providing lunch and stipends for the participants. I had to wait till 3pm before our (HR) interview started tho. Apparently, the head of HR wrote an exam that morning. I was even the last person that was interviewed. It was a wonderful experience through and through and I'm glad I was a part of it.

I pray we all get called, even tho I doubt we all will, but I still pray.

I also need to ask, was it just me or everybody else. My interview was kinda longer than usual, I really talked ehn, and was nice though, more liike an interaction, just dat I did most of the talkin, the interviewers weren't hostile. It was one boss and young guy who seemed really sound that interviewd at my side. The questions were basically random, and mostly follow up questions

The turn out was okay though. On a wide scale I can say way way less than 100 perhaps more than 50. Buh yet again depends on how many people they want to take.

What is happening. Nobody talkin about Interview. Anywaus here's my point of view. Impressed with Fortis abeg... Splendid organization and logistics. Then they in collabo with German AFOS were just too generous... For those that didnt come from lag cos of TP, well, don't mean to make u feel bad sha. Buh they actually gave TP. Based on where u came from. I base in Abuja and got 5k. U can imahine. Saw someone who came from lag being given 12k. Then for salary inquiry. The way the interview was Structured, wasn't really convenient to ask. Though i already knew it $as gonna be good from their packaging. Well I went on to ask though. Wasn't given a fIgure, buh my interviewer said and i paraphrase: Its quite good, similar to what our colleagues at grqduate level receive any where else, but slightly higher... So thats all I can say. I want to know if any body asked wen successful candidates will be contacted. If u did, please tell us wat u were told

For the first time or lemme say one of the rare times, those in lag are facing wat we face evrry now and den in abuja, only God knows how many invites I've had to ignore cos i Couldn't travel to lag... Anyways sha. Who got a call from them asking if you'd be present and where u reside?.. Cos I just did. And since they are asking where one resides. I'm guessing perhaps the job might not only be in abuja.

well, in my own opinion i think the interview will be scheduled base on what you applied for, like communication this week, HR next week, operation the following and so on...

it will have just been cool if they can bring their interview venue to lag :-/

lol... Evrybody wanna know the salary range... Dunno sha. My advice is if u dont have anytin doin, and know u can relocate for the job bearing in mind that the salary may be less than 80k (I didnt say it is oh. so u guys dnt quote me later, it may be way way less, and cld also be more, one cant tell, and it doesn't look like a popular fit actually seem like a new stuff, so virtually no way to know, except if someone comes up to say sha... So basically wat i am sayin is try to make it sha, but also bear in mind that u may regret it, so u dont feel bad wen it happens, buh then if it end up good, u go home happy. Well if not, just wait, I will come and info u how it went down at Wuse 5.

Yes ,the training is done according to your departments. The last batch that just graduated (batch 5) last July 29 had a total of 34 successful graduants broken into this number according to their departments:

MECHANICAL......................................21
CHEMICAL............................................7
ELECTRICAL........................................ 4
INSTRUMENTATION & CONTROL........2
TOTAL.................................................... 34
This time around with Mining and Automobile included the number is likely going to increase.

As for your last question , the chances are high.Mining is part of Geology, school like UniJos does the course as Geology & Mining. You know most schools in Nigeria do only the drilling aspects of Geology because Nigeria has much interest in Petroleum industry because it's a money spinning business leaving the Mining aspects of the course. But in all, drilling & mining use almost the same principle in operations the only different between both is that in drilling you go deeper in depth in searching for crude oil and natural gas while in Mining you don't go that deep in searching for coal, Limestone, gypsum and laterite. Also in drilling, the natural resources you drill are in liquid or gaseous state while the natural resources you mine are in solid form.
