Ojukwudfugitive:In addition to the well known webform, you can also raise issues via this (sent me by Abuja office): https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/web-form.asp |
Thomsyne:In addition: ABUJA-IM-Enquiry@international.gc.ca nrobi-immigration@international.gc.ca nairobi@international.gc.ca Lastly, I would recommend we have a kind of professional profile picture in our email account. I know some people would say it doesn't matter but we are humans, we have feelings and emotions. Picture your self as a front desk officer receiving complaints and enquiry mails from people. If a sender of a mail has a picture, it gives you a sense that you are communicating with a real person and not someone trying to spam or phish. Also, if the person's mail comes often, your mind would have a record of the person's picture and/or previous complaint. Again, these may have little or no effect in receiving a response, but sometimes little effect is important and even better than none. |
DejiiiiB:I don't think you should withdraw your application now. I applied on March 9th and got my PPR on October 20th. DejiiiiB, keep believing! Some few tips to stimulating a decision on your application (given that it has been long you applied): 1. Send emails to Abuja, Lagos, Nairobi, London, and Beijing offices. Sometimes, these offices push your email to Nairobi...Note, these offices would tell you that your files are in Nairobi but some may still send a reminder to Nairobi from their end. it happened to me when Nairobi replied to a mail I had sent to Beijing. Also, Abuja gave me a special link to a new webform site that has quick response and also gave a short and direct reply to one of my mails. They said "Nairobi would reach out to you once they've finalize your application". I got my PPR in 40days time. This may add weight to reminding Nairobi office. 2. You could use the subject of your mail as [URGENT] Request for Update on my Study Permit Application or use [URGENT] Request for Expediting the Processing of my Study Permit Application. If this, then request for urgent processing of your application because it is more than 8months and you don't have online options after January 2023. 3. In your mail, state that you do not have online options from January. Bolden this sentence in your mail, also bolden that it has been 8 months since you submitted your application. This makes their eyes go to the main points of your mail quickly. 4. Add that the delay is disrupting your academic and career plans. Be a little emotional e.g. state that it is affecting you mentally. 5. Schedule your mail to be sent 8am in the local time of the office. E.g. Nairobi is 2hrs ahead of us. So, schedule your mail to be sent 6am WAT. This could make it among the first mail that pops up as they resume work. Plus the [URGENT] in your mail subject could trigger them to read it. Only use [URGENT] keyword in the mail subject if it is really urgent, else it could be seen as false alarm and may not be good for you (I saw this in their website). Well, your case can be considered to be urgent. 6. Apply for GCMS notes. If you have, what does the Assessment section says? If you have and it hasn't been delivered for more than 45days, start sending the GCMS agent mails once every week. They would send IRCC reminder mail...I did this. 7. We can only do much, if you are a Christian, I recommend you fast and pray. All the best, These tips are not absolute but I am confident you will receive a decision soon. |
7COLOURS:So sorry for this. You could request for GCMS Notes and see what is the main reason for the refusal. Try and address the reason of refusal in your next application. Refire and don't give up. As a second time applicant, your application would be attended to faster. I think you have enough funds and the reason for refusal could be addressed. Don't give up. |
Please, is there any WhatsApp group for those going to the University of Toronto? I would appreciate if it can be shared with me. I have been looking for roommate and accommodation. |
I received my stamped passport today...submitted on October 24th. My letter of introduction has been sent to my portal too. Just want to confirm that the next step is to book a flight and travel, and that there are no other things to do in the IRCC portal or submit (I don't want to be stranded at the airport ). Gurus, hope I am not missing any steps? |
Olorilee:Just seeing your message Olorilee. I have already changed my flight to a 1 stop flight in France. That came at a higher cost though...wish I saw your message before now. |
kweje:Yea, thank you very much. I read France's Immigration website and they said one wouldn't need a transit visa if he or she has a Canadian visa. In theory, my student visa is a Canadian visa so, that should solve the issue with transit visa. |
No refund available. They said I can only change my booking. Please,.urgent: is transit visa required for a layover in France? |
Oh my God, let me apply for a refund asap ![]() Thank you @kweje. |
My God, I applied for the transit visa (C1) today by filling the DS160 form. I then checked for available interview dates and it's Nov 2024 upwards . Omo, I don mail their Lagos office to ask if I really need an interview, that my layover is just 2hrs...waiting for their response. By the way, how do people go about the US transit visa? How long is the processing time? Are there really interviews and is it this complicated to get? Asking here because I couldn't find much info online and on other Nairaland threads. |
Gurus, I've got a question please. Do I need a transit visa if my flight would layover in the US for 2hrs 55mins? I am going to Toronto, Canada with a student visa. I booked a flight with KLM and a friend told me I would need a transit visa for US. Please, is this true? |
DejiiiiB:Have you applied for GCMS notes? If yes, the notes help you to see the progress of your application, to see any concerns of the VO so you can quickly address them before refusal, and could trigger the revisiting of your file. The later point is not always true but it is debatable...it sometimes work. I noticed a pattern: there are about 30days between when my friend received his notes and when he received a final decision last year. Same apply to me too this year. As a rule of thumb, apply for your GCMS notes 12 weeks after you submit your application or when they've started reviewing your eligibility. This will make you see any concern of the VO and so you can quickly update your application to address it before any visa refusal. |
My God, finally PPR has dropped, March Applicant. Timeline: Applied: March 9th Biometrics: March 14th Upfront Medicals: April 5th June 14th: applied for GCMS Notes ........................... The long wait. Sent mails to IRCC and MPs. All MPs said they couldn't help because I am not living in Canada. Sent mails to IRCC requesting that my application be expedited, Nairobi office nor send my mail lol. Abuja sha replied and gave me a special link to raise a webform. I raised webforms tire, still no reply from IRCC. Raised webforms, got generic responses. September 1st: I requested for my school to send me a letter stating that I need to resume before September 18th, and that I am a funded research student. Letter arrived that same day. September 19th: Admission was deferred to January start. The wait was affecting me mentally. Had to take my mind off it to focus on my live. September 28th: GCMS notes arrived. Says "Recommend Interview". October 6th: Sent my new admission letter to IRCC stating that my admission has been deferred. October 17th: woke up with a holy anger and send mails to IRCC requesting that my application be expedited because I think I have been unfairly treated by having to wait for 7months for a visa whereas others are getting theirs in 3 months. TODAY OCTOBER 20TH: PPR & BVL Dropped. Documents: Admission letter SOP Funding letter. My bank statement and that of my brother. My payslip from my work place. My employment letter. Aduragbemioluwa:Yea, GCMS notes have been taking time lately. I applied for mine on June 14th and got the notes on September 28 (106 days). My notes seems to have been generated on August 8th but was sent on September 28th. I used JustForCanada and yes, a friend who used them last year, got his notes in 45 days. It seems IRCC have been having backlogs of GCMS application since June (JustForCanada told me that in one of their responses to my mail). After 45 days of applying for my notes, I started bombarding JustForCanada with mails every week. So, if your GCMS notes is taking long, know that you are not alone. Meanwhile, the assessment on my notes says "Recommend Interview". I applied for my SP on March 9th. The wait is really painful and frustrating... I have deferred to January start....hopefully I get a final decision before then. I sent mails to MPs in Toronto and Ontario, but all said they can't help cause I am not in Canada. Please, does anyone know an MP in Ontario that helps? I will really appreciate. At some point and even now, I have to advice myself to take my mind off this delay stuff and focus on my life. |
GodwinBC:Congratulations my fellow March applicant. For all PPR hopefuls, this week shall not pass us by. Amen. |
Katehasty:Congratulations Katehasty. Despite the uncertainties, you got it...so happy for you. Quick question, when did you apply for your GCMS note? |
Chiziteremary:Thank you Chiziteremary. I have sent to the Chinese email address and they replied by giving me a link to a case specific webform which I have submitted. Still no outcome since then. Same with London office too. Both responded by sending me the case sensitive webforms. I am tempted to think that IRCC is skipping some January to March files. I see some people complaining about this as a reply to IRCC's official tweets. I am even thinking that they may be skipping these files to reduce the reported average processing time. I may be wrong though, just an assumption. In any case, I am optimistic and believe it will end in praise. |
Congratulations to everyone that has gotten their PPR. I tap into your testimony. I applied in March, Biometrics completed in the same month. Medical completed and reflecting on my portal on April 5th. Eligibility review started around May ending. Since then nothing. Send emails and raised webforms but Nairobi replied to only my first email stating that my application is under active review. Sent emails to MPs but they said they can't help because I am not in Canada. Yesterday makes it 30days since I applied for my gcms note. Still waiting for it. School is to Resume first week of September and I am getting worried and depressed especially seeing recent applicants getting their PPRs. Please gurus, any advice? |
