Politics › Post Abdulmutallab Bomb Attempt: Nigeria's Best Response Strategy by netpro(op): 6:55am On Jan 06, 2010
After Abdulmutallab attempted terrorist attract, a well thought out plan from the us would have made all the difference.

From day one Obama have set out to play Mr. Nice Guy. He is taking all the heat at home (even from his supporters) but he is still going on fine. The best strategy from us (Nigeria) would have been immediately we had the news, all Nigeria's relevant offices will reach out to their counterparts in US - from Embassies, Foreign Affair, Security, Senate and The Presidency reassuring them that we are doing all that is needed to get to the base of the matter and we are open to corporate with them to prevent future occurrence. From that point the tempo is set. I mean this is how nations cooperate.

But sadly, no president, unactivated Acting President and the worst; every fellow in Nigeria started distancing themselves from the guy. It became Hausa/Igbo/Yoruba affair and to make matter worst some people started coming up with hypothesis of how the guy is not a Nigerian (when the father is a former bank chief), turning the blame to CIA for doing nothing about the dad's complains (which many still view as staged) and when the US govt included us in a list of nations they should be careful of, our Senators now start threatening with ultimatum to a Super-power as if to validate their fear that extremist have a state support.

This a bad strategy. I know there is power vacuum but we deserve a lot better than this show of shame.

Politics › Re: "Being Obama's Brother"- Obama's Kenyan Brother Tells His Story by netpro(m): 6:00am On Jan 06, 2010
All he need to succeed is conceive a good plan to succeed help will come. But if he is waiting for $s, if am Obama he wouldn't see any. He is loosing opportunities:

- Why grant interview for free?
- Why give out pictures free, when he can make fortune with his album (pics)
- Why think small when his brother has set a pace for him to ride.
- Why not grab opportunities in Government, he have opportunities for the top where it regards mediation, legal, security, diplomatic missions, foreign affair, rural development, community services, education, etc.

Once he brush up, prove he can complete a task, doors will be opened, at first he may be used, but once he finds his footing, the sky will be his limit - Even grants and support will come naturally.

Tell him to stop wasting his life and start harvesting!

What type of leaders do we have in Nigeria? The young man brought us shame, I thought steps will be taking to get us out of this mess but instead NA members are bring us more shame.

Do they think America wouldn't take measure not to expose their citizens to danger. They don't even know where their President is, all they can is to force Goodluck's hands to sign the dam budget.

Their luck is that the bomb never went off. With president absent we would have had a US military commanders on air, land and sea by now. They should be happy Obama is play Mr. Nice Guy unlike G.W. Bush.

These stupidi.ty is becoming very stupi.d  The more they say things like these the more the name should climb the list. A young lad want to kill 300 people and himself - what did they do - all denial.

First, where is your boss (Mr.  President). And after 40 days, what have they done (legally). Na to come shout as if we are deaf.

Look 10 weeks will come and pass they will not do a poo. And Obama's first priority is the safety of the Americans. Is he loose his administration relevance to please guys protecting only their pockets and leaving Nigerians under the rain.

To me, every good government should be something close to this: Below is an email I recieved from Organizing For America - Obama's Post-Election Supporters Organization.

Emmanuel --

Last Friday marked our passage into a new year, and a new decade.

2010 will be a year of new, exciting challenges. We'll be working hard with President Obama to finish the fight for health insurance reform, put more Americans back to work, and get our economy running strong. We'll fight to protect consumers and our economy from Wall Street abuses, improve transparency in Washington to elevate the voices of the American people, and create a vibrant, clean energy economy. And we'll stand up for the President's allies at the ballot box.

As we've always known, change this big must come from the bottom up. Organizing for America was founded last year based on your feedback, and OFA supporters are at the core of everything we do.

So as we wrap up one year and prepare for the next, we want to hear your reflections on our work together in 2009 and how you want OFA to move forward in the new year.

Can you take a minute to fill out our quick survey on what's next in 2010?

What's next in 2010

There's no limit to what we can accomplish this year, if we keep working together.

Can't wait to get started:

Happy New Year,

You see there are so many questions that need answers, but start with these two:
1. Where is the President?
2. Is the President insisting on staying in power or some people are threatening pressuring the President to remain in power?

Nigeria is not a fail state and it is wrong to categorize Nigeria among the top states. Most of these states have rebel groups that are either fighting to secceed from the country or trying to tople the government. In Nigeria we have non of these.

Infact to prove the whole world how wrongly they percieve Nigerians, is the current state of our nation. Our President is missing, but still we are an entity. No fighting, no coupe, nothing.

Probably Nigeria is the only country that can function on auto pilot.

Politics › Yar'adua: Kidnapped, Hiding, Dead, Playing Pranks, Or? by netpro(op): 5:51pm On Jan 05, 2010
As efforts have been initiated to find our dear President, its better we reduce the irrelevant possibilities and concentrate efforts on the viable options. So is President Umaru Yar'Adua:
Kidnapped? - I consider he loves Nigeria to have spoken by now. So it may be against his will
Hiding? - Since the Saudi Hospital claims he is never with them
Dead? - All the events that have taking place now, even a deaf will hear them

Or what is your take on these?

Politics › Re: Nigerians, Are You Dead? by netpro(m): 8:22am On Jan 04, 2010
Nigerians have been conditioned that way. Here is what happened:

- Our leader where not elected by us (so not accountable to us) - we allowed them
- They give us peanuts (and share the york among themselves) - we did nothing
- They perform 10% (some 1%) - we roll out the drums
- Our basic rights are deprived - we allow it (make yanga no wake trouble)
- Officials suspend restrictive laws for their convenience - we just boil and cool (life continues)
- Corruption is perpetrated - we give the oga chieftainship  title
- When we (Nigerians) see evil, with little bribe - we turn blind eye
- When are elected into position - we seek our pocket

and more.

So why would one jump into fire just because;
- few shadows are running the show,
- our president slap the law-of-the-land in the face
- National Assembly members are looking for ways to avoid doing their job - even after grace period don pass
- Giant Of Africa is on life support Auto-pilot  - Not minding that the system is bad
- Suddenly nobody know what next
- Our President is missing and no rescue search team in place - Police can announce him missing

SAD, but it will just fine. After this crash, we will get going again. How much suffering/heartbreak can we bear. Just don't waste your bandwidth. OK. Welcome to the world's most peculiar nation - NIGERIA.

Politics › U.s. Tightens International Air Security by netpro(op): 10:43pm On Jan 03, 2010
All travelers flying into the U.S. from foreign countries will receive tightened random screening, and 100 percent of passengers from 14 terrorism-prone countries will be patted down and have their carry-ons searched, the Obama administration was notifying airlines on Sunday.

The more stringent Transportation Security Administration rules, to take effect at midnight, follow the attempted Christmas Day bombing of a U.S. airliner headed into Detroit from Amsterdam.

“These are changes that weren’t widely in place for all carriers or countries on 12/24,” a senior administration official told POLITICO. “These are sustainable measures that are a significant enhancement of our security posture. TSA will continuously review these measures with our global aviation partners to ensure the highest levels of security."

All passengers from countries on the State Department’s “State Sponsors of Terrorism” list – plus all passengers from other "countries of interest" such as Nigeria, Pakistan and Yemen — will receive “full body pat-down and physical inspection of property,” the official said.

The countries on the State Department list are Cuban, Iran, Sudan and Syria. Other countries covered by the TSA directive include Afghanistan, Libya and Somalia. A complete list was not released.

A much higher percentage of all travelers from all foreign countries will receive such screening than is currently the case, the official said. "The screening “could also include explosive detection technology or advanced imaging technology where it’s available,” the official said.

Kristin Lee of the TSA, which is part of the Department of Homeland Security, announced: "Today the Transportation Security Administration issued new security directives to all United States and international air carriers with inbound flights to the U.S. effective January 4, 2010. The new directive includes long-term, sustainable security measures developed in consultation with law enforcement officials and our domestic and international partners.”

In other words, there will be a new normal for international travel into the U.S. The “enhanced security measures” apply to “all international flights to U.S. locations, including both U.S. and international carriers,” the official said.

“All international passengers will be screened and the majority of passengers will be screened using threat-based or random measures, the official said. “ These are designed to be sustainable measures that are a significant increase in our security posture.
