The actual consumption figure cannot be quaged by what goes out of his refinery. The NNPCL is stepping in as a monopoly force in order to drive prices down on behalf of a govt eager to lower prices. That leaves us still with difference between our prices and our neighbour's and thats the basis for smuggling. Tracking trucks is good but there are other means of smuggling it from border areas out.
NNPCL isn't driving prices down in fact they're the major problem in the mainstream of the oil market. How do u explain buying fuel refined in Nigeria at the same price as imported one by oil marketers??

Thissystem: The Federal Government has issued a stern warning to private-sector employers, stressing that paying below the newly established N70,000 minimum wage could lead to imprisonment.
Speaking at the 13th Annual General Meeting of the Employers Association for Private Employment Agencies of Nigeria in Ikeja, Lagos, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Kachollom Daju, represented by John Nyamali, Director of Employment and Wages, stated,
“The minimum wage is now a law, and as a result, it is a punishable crime for any employer to pay less than N70,000 to any of its workers. Emphasizing the necessity of the updated wage to address current economic conditions, the government asserted that no Nigerian worker, whether in public or private employment, should earn less than this minimum.
“The private employment agencies should make it compulsory in any contract they take from their principal that their workers should not earn less than the minimum wage. The least paid worker in Nigeria should earn N70,000, and I think that should be after all deductions.
“The minimum wage is a law, and you can be jailed if you fail to implement it. The Federal Government is committed to ensuring that the least paid worker goes home with N70,000.”
Responding to the government’s directive, President of the Employers Association for Private Employment Agencies of Nigeria, Dr. Olufemi Ogunlowo, called for clarity on whether the N70,000 minimum wage applies net or gross, urging the government and Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to address any ambiguities in the Act.
“We are already committed to the minimum wage and providing decent jobs for Nigerians while preventing the exploitation of human resources,” Ogunlowo affirmed.
Chairperson of the NLC, Lagos State chapter, Funmilayo Sessi, underscored the impact of economic challenges on workers’ incomes, urging private employers to promptly implement the N70,000 minimum wage.
“The N70,000 isn’t sufficient in today’s economic realities. Once the consequential adjustment is finalized, all private employment agencies must begin paying their workers the N70,000 minimum wage,” Sessi insisted. “The NLC in Lagos State will ensure strict enforcement, and EAPEAN should avoid any conflict with the NLC regarding the minimum wage.”

With the present state of things in Nigeria, no worker would have been going to work in many sane countries of the world, everything would have been at a standstill. mohbadliveson: Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), lacks integrity and should have been fired by President Bola Tinubu, says Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN).
Speaking in a chat with TheScrutiny, Sagay, former Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Commitee Against Corruption (PACAC) said Kyari has been untruthful with Nigerians over the commencement of crude oil refining at the Port Harcourt Refinery.
Kyari had explained that the Port Harcourt refinery will kick off production by early August this year, while that of Kaduna will commence by December 2024.
Kyari who had earlier announced two weeks from March 2024 as the kick-off date for production from the Port Harcourt refinery, maintained that ‘he is not lying’, as he reaffirmed the new August date. The month of August is coming to an end, yet the refinery is yet to begin operation.
A very upset Sagay said Kyari has proven that he is unreliable and Nigerians can't believe whatever he says.
"I am extremely upset with Mele Kyari, the MD of NNPC. He has turned out to be a man who has no regard for his own integrity. He is a man who thinks he can fool Nigerians and make all of us look stupid for a long time".
"This man said the Port Harcourt refinery will be ready in December 2023 but that didn't happen. He shifted it to January 2024, it was not. He then shifted it to March, it was not. Since then, he has been kicking the can down the road from December 2023 now to August 2024, it is the same story".
