Hello Planners or anyone who can help. I am planning a 21st formal dinner party for my daughter and inviting about 60 people in total. Help me with a realistic budget. I dont want to say I have 500k yet when we start I end up paying for the most expensive things. The party is next year early January in Lagos. How much should I budget for these items. I need a rough idea of how much things costs. Average things we are no bankers nor work in oil and gas:-) Cake - 3 tier Decorations Food Photography Makeup Venue Ikeja/VI table chair hire Planner fees Thanks in advance 1 Like |
Family / Re: Must We Carry Our Little Babies And Toddlers In Front Seats? by New9jabeb: 6:15am On Mar 03, 2012 |
@Sagamite you are right here in Nigeria u hardly hear of any news of child death or injuries due to lack of seat beats and car seats because no one keeps track of these statistics. "As far as I am concerned this is one of those over-do by Oyinbo in their wish to create a risk-free society." well what is better making sure your child is safe but having to pay thousands or lose the child altogether. Presentation is certainly better than cure. What pisses me the most is you see father n mother in front with seat beats gisting away whilst their children are standing either in between their seats or on the seat at the back. N the driver doing macgyver driving. Ignorance is bliss I tell u. |
Travel / Re: Vacation In Paris, Any Guide by New9jabeb: 10:05pm On Nov 28, 2011 |
also read Here http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g187147-i14-Paris_Ile_de_France.html Used the forum to plan our trip and it was easy. My hubby was shocked about how much I knew so much about Paris. And no need for taxis use the metro and the buses. First few days use buses and u can buy a carnet will give u ten tickets that u can use each for about 3 hours on buses. Also you can give your kids assignments if they are in teens or even younger to plan each day on what they want to do etc and they will enjoy being your guide for a particular day. Do Day trips out of Paris and Paris walks. Get tickets online for the effiel tower to avoid the long ques. Avoid hotel breakfast if you can even if money is not issue you will get fresher and more variety in the bakeries and brasserie. Personally I love 5 star hotels but next time will do apartments especially with kids. And make sure your ATM card is chip and 4 digit pin Beware of scammers just shake your head and move on. |

Travel / Re: Always Request For The Return Of Your Passport by New9jabeb: 7:06pm On Sep 30, 2011 |
this says otherwise thou for UK thou unless its dated http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/countries/nigeria/applying/vac/?langname=UK%20English and quote We will retain your passport until we have made a decision on your visa application. You should remember this when you make your travel arrangements, particularly if you plan to visit other countries before going to the UK. If you need to collect your passport before a visa decision has been made, your visa application will be withdrawn. Please note that the visa fee is non-refundable, and if you would like to reapply for a visa you will need to lodge another application, submit your biometric data, and pay the visa fee once again. was actually happy that i can get my passport back and use it whilst they are taking their sweet dear time. knew could retrieve the passport if i needed it. only saw that whilst trying to get the link guess had over looked the application would be withdrawn.:-( |

@tee-jay na wa oh for you my cheapo was referring to having to haul bags from one train or bus the other so that i don't spend money on a taxi. the 10 or 20pounds i can save there can use it somewhere else. that was the whole point of posting my question. @martinosi thanks hey especially for the shopping malls etc. about where to stay i was just wondering about where other Nigerians who travel and not stay with relatives which areas within London they stay and how much they pay for the accommodation. Which i know depends on individual taste and comfort level, Just need to know what is the norm out there. |
Travel / Re: London Questions - First Time Visitor by New9jabeb: 9:13am On Aug 17, 2011 |
thanks hey meant drive here in lagos, get out of your house into the car and go whereever without having to walk to the nearest busstop or worry about how you will manage to carry two or three heavy bags. on the trolley as long as they are there fine. will probably do taxi from hotel to paddington and get onto the heathrow express. im trying to be cheap and not suffer at the same time and still be within my budget. |
Travel / London Questions - First Time Visitor by New9jabeb: 7:29am On Aug 17, 2011 |
Hi all Which area to stay in London for shopping and ease of transportation? Like most people I drive everywhere within Lagos and the thought of dragging bags and bags from one train, tube or the other is really a put off and taxi fares seem to be really on the high side. I'm not looking for high end shopping but just regular shops like next etc. How much are you willing to pay for hotel accommodation? And where do you stay when you are visiting London on a tourist visa? Are there trolleys for luggages at the stations like at airports. Thanks in advance |

Hello house Please help? We want to apply for tourist visa. I do have a number of questions. I have read nearly every page of this topic some of my questions have been answered. N thank you to all for your contributions n patience. How much on average would one spend on hotel accommodation so that the ECO dont raise questions or eyebrows. Like what percentage of your income or Savings. Spending ten days in london Can I book at budget hotel n then once I get visa book at a more expensive one? Do they check or confirm which hotel Is it better in terms of logistics n sightseeing to be within central London unlike staying out of London and having to commute 30 plus minutes to get into London. We would rather book a holiday apartment, think they are more flexible n not to mention cheaper than hotels, would the ECO frawn upon that. Our itinerary is just in London Hoping to visit other cities on other visits without packing everything in one trip. Is this ok for a tourist visa? Thank you |
