There was an enforcement operation along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway yesterday. Policemen and Lagos State officials were impounding motorcycle taxis (Okada) that were illegally operating on the expressway and yellow and black commercial buses (danfo) that were operating on the BRT lane.

After the policemen and officials left, okada riders, bus drivers and conductors and area boys began marching towards the Orile Police Station (probably to attack the station). They saw a BRT bus on the way and decided to attack it. They stopped traffic in front of the bus and then attacked it, damaging the bus, robbing the passengers and injuring the bus crew.

The mob was later dispersed by policemen from Orile Police Station who fired teargas at them.

The man, eager to make the swap, met a street vendor who offered him what seemed like a fantastic deal. As they were finalizing the transaction, a group of touts suddenly approached them, demanding a payment of ₦1,000 for conducting business on their turf. Under pressure, the man quickly paid the touts, but this distraction set the stage for what would soon turn into a nightmare.

Taking advantage of the chaos, the vendor urged the man to log out of his iCloud account to expedite the deal before more touts gathered around. In his excitement and under the stress of the situation, the man complied, handing over his iPhone 11 and receiving what he believed was the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The vendor then advised him to hide the phone and quickly leave the area to avoid further harassment from touts. It wasn’t until the man had safely left the market and decided to check his new phone that he realized something was terribly wrong. Instead of the premium iPhone 13 Pro Max he had been shown earlier, he found himself holding a cheap Android replica.

It became clear that during the commotion caused by the touts, the vendor had switched the genuine iPhone 13 Pro Max with a counterfeit device. The realization that he had lost both his original iPhone and his money sent the man into a state of distress. While he still has a device that can make calls, the emotional and financial loss has left him devastated.

A statement signed by its Ag. Director, Corporate Communications, Hakama Ali on Tuesday, said the reports, including the Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI), Business Expectation Survey (BES), Inflation Expectation Report, and other macroeconomic indicators, will provide stakeholders with timely and accurate insights into the country’s economic performance.

It said, “The reintroduction of these reports, part of the ongoing data enhancement initiative within the CBN, aims to ensure that the public, policymakers, and the business community have access to essential economic indicators.

“The PMI, which assesses the health of the manufacturing, services, and agricultural sectors, along with the business and household expectations reports, are crucial tools for understanding Nigeria’s economic climate.

“These reports offer valuable insights into the perceptions and outlooks within the business and household sectors, respectively.

“This initiative is part of the Bank’s broader efforts to enhance transparency, promote informed decision-making, and support economic growth. The reports will be periodically released on the Bank’s website (www.cbn.gov.ng), ensuring that they are easily accessible to all.’

Finally, “The CBN encourages economists, analysts, investors, media, and the general public to use these reports to gain a more comprehensive understanding of Nigeria’s economic dynamics, thereby fostering a more inclusive economic discourse.”
