At Lagos' bustling Computer Village, a man was reduced to tears after being scammed out of his iPhone 11 in a deceptive swap deal.

The man, eager to make the swap, met a street vendor who offered him what seemed like a fantastic deal. As they were finalizing the transaction, a group of touts suddenly approached them, demanding a payment of ₦1,000 for conducting business on their turf. Under pressure, the man quickly paid the touts, but this distraction set the stage for what would soon turn into a nightmare.

Taking advantage of the chaos, the vendor urged the man to log out of his iCloud account to expedite the deal before more touts gathered around. In his excitement and under the stress of the situation, the man complied, handing over his iPhone 11 and receiving what he believed was the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The vendor then advised him to hide the phone and quickly leave the area to avoid further harassment from touts. It wasn’t until the man had safely left the market and decided to check his new phone that he realized something was terribly wrong. Instead of the premium iPhone 13 Pro Max he had been shown earlier, he found himself holding a cheap Android replica.

It became clear that during the commotion caused by the touts, the vendor had switched the genuine iPhone 13 Pro Max with a counterfeit device. The realization that he had lost both his original iPhone and his money sent the man into a state of distress. While he still has a device that can make calls, the emotional and financial loss has left him devastated.

A statement signed by its Ag. Director, Corporate Communications, Hakama Ali on Tuesday, said the reports, including the Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI), Business Expectation Survey (BES), Inflation Expectation Report, and other macroeconomic indicators, will provide stakeholders with timely and accurate insights into the country’s economic performance.

It said, “The reintroduction of these reports, part of the ongoing data enhancement initiative within the CBN, aims to ensure that the public, policymakers, and the business community have access to essential economic indicators.

“The PMI, which assesses the health of the manufacturing, services, and agricultural sectors, along with the business and household expectations reports, are crucial tools for understanding Nigeria’s economic climate.

“These reports offer valuable insights into the perceptions and outlooks within the business and household sectors, respectively.

“This initiative is part of the Bank’s broader efforts to enhance transparency, promote informed decision-making, and support economic growth. The reports will be periodically released on the Bank’s website (www.cbn.gov.ng), ensuring that they are easily accessible to all.’

Finally, “The CBN encourages economists, analysts, investors, media, and the general public to use these reports to gain a more comprehensive understanding of Nigeria’s economic dynamics, thereby fostering a more inclusive economic discourse.”

A 34-year-old man, identified as Mr. Chukwudi Okoye has been arrested on the directive of the Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl in the state.

According to video currently trending on social media, the suspect, who hails from Enugwu-Agidi in Njikoka Local Government Area of the State, committed the act in Amanuke, Awka North Local Government where he resides.

It was gathered that the girl was later rushed to the Emergency Ward Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka, for urgent medical attention, as a result of complications and other health issues purportedly resulting from the incident.

Okoye, who was interrogated in the video, admitted to have fingered and generally defiled the little girl, but claimed that he did not fully penetrate.

According to him, the girl, who is a child of his family friend, came to invite him to her graduation ceremony in her school.

“I told her to help me wash some dishes in my kitchen. After washing the dishes, she went and lied down on my bed, while still telling me to prepare let's go for the graduation.

“As I was there with her, something came over me, and I began to UnCloth her; but I didn't penetrate,” he narrated.

Continuing, Okoye, who earlier denied penetrating the victim at all, later admitted to have done so, but also claimed that he didn't penetrate fully, as the girl is still too young.

“One week after that incident, the girls mother came and told me what her daughter reported to her that transpired between us; and she also informed me about the health complications the girl developed.

“I told them actually what happened. But I didn't penetrate fully, because she is still a young girl,” Okoye added.

Okoye is said to be a seminarian in the Anglican church.
