In 2003, the general elections coincided with Holy Saturday, a day before Easter and Catholic Bishops protested. The elections were eventually shifted to April. No Muslim raised any concern or counter-protest.

Not only will this new date in 2027 coincide with Ramadan, the gubernatorial election will also fall on a Sallah day.

The Muslims had set bad precedent then, hence the Bishop demands moreover 2003 isn’t 2026,now!

I hoped those protesting against none mandatory e-transmission results will be bold enough to protest against the change in dates because religion is personal and it will be a bad precedent to allow religion to dictate National governance!
