Politics / Re: Gaddafi ‘fighters’ Arrive In Kaduna by newintexas: 5:42pm On Sep 27, 2011
Do we even realise the implication of this information. The little safety we have in nigeria is going to be completely taken away. Instead of fighting tribal war of words, lets concentrate on the real issues. We know that these men are alll mostly drugged out and have lost all sense of conscience, so to start fighting over which tribe is responsible is totally unbelieveable to me when we know that our lives are at risk. shameful
Celebrities / Re: Kelis Called ‘kunta Kinte,’ ‘disgusting Nigerian’ @ London Airport by newintexas: 4:38am On Sep 17, 2011
Another thing that scares me is the non challant attitude some people in this forum have. Is it that we are just scared to face the truth or are we too lazy to fight for our rights. Talk about issues affecting Nigerians and 60% of them do not really care. Infact they are ready to shoot you down for talking too much about it. The color of our skin is not the problem but our mentality. We have forgotten how to be satisfied with what we have. We watch American TV and we think that is the American dream, Real housewives of Atlanta, jersey, orange county is not reall people. Americans are struggling to get themselves out of the moral decay they are in and Nigerians want to immitate their lifestyle, Many people need a dose of common sense knocked into the heads of many Nigerians. We have many educated ppl with the mentality of stark illitrate and this is another problem in Nigeria, Many ppl went through school but school did not go through them,

@Thiefofhearts,
As much as I don't like the tone with which you are expressing your views, I have to write i agree with you to some extent. If anyone here has ever done their medicals to get the U.S green card in lagos, you will see that he/she is right. I was shocked when i went there for mine to hear the way the Dr was yelling on top of her voice at the Nigerians that came there. It was really shocking to me how all but one man sat meekly and accepted the disrespect from the woman, can't remember her name now. She is storky with brownish hair. It was unbelievable that such attrocity was being given to Nigerians. I do understand that some of them might have been thro some hardships in their lives and just wanted to get away from the country but it was still a sad thing to see. the truth is that most Nigerians do not realise they have rights. First we have been conditioned to see our selves as second class people by the white man and our politicians have done a better job of making tthem see themselves as irrelevant, then the few priviledge rob it our their faces everyday that they are not worthy of any respect. What is left, a shell of a human being, with no self esteem, no hope, depression and resignation to what life hands them. I understand your anger, but I am a Nigerian that lives abroad, it took me more than five years to start realising that i do not have to accept the abuse and i am educated. so you can imagine ppl with little or no education. it will be very difficult for them to get out of their slave mentality becos they have been conditioned to think less of themselves and just happy to have enough food, shelter and finance for themselves and family.

Some people respond more to negativity, so no matter what she does, wear or say, the nay sayers will continue to be negative. But y'all remember that none of these affects her in anyway, one way or another. so move on with your bad belles. Congratulations Mercy and I sincerely wish you all the happiness that you deserve.

Wao, I find the reactions towards this issue very alarming and dissappointing. How does this issue affect anyone of us here. This union will not affect anyone here whatever the outcome. If we can only find it in our hearts to wish her happiness instead of going on and on about how her husbands teeth are brown or big. Before you write any negative thing here, pls let us take a minute and put ourselves in their position and see how it will feel for you to be a victim of such negativity and all this over hearsay, cos no one really knows the really truth of this matter and it shouldn't be our business anyway. embarassed embarassed embarassed embarassed

Religion / Re: When Does A Man Of God Become An Idol? by newintexas: 1:31am On Mar 26, 2011
The day I gave up on Nigerian churches, was the day I asked to speak with my pastor about a pressing issue and I was asked if i pay my tithe regularly. I am yet to get over the shock shocked. I think the mistake pastor Chris made was turning his flourishing church into family business. Just because you are called by God does not mean your brothers, in-laws and others have the same gift you were given. Its a shame what Christ Embassy has turned into. And really sad that men blessed with so much gift of preaching the word of God will let material gain take over everything else. As for worshipping of pastors, this is becoming a very troublling trend in Nigerian and this is why so much attrocities happen in church and no one can talk about it. If you do, you become an enemy of the church. its a vicious circle that will go on and on unless these issues are addressed. The way church officials and members fall over themselves to worship these pastors is a sin itself and they have to be held responsible too.
Politics / Re: The Gaddafi's Blundered by newintexas: 5:37pm On Mar 01, 2011
So many Head of State in Africa has done so, they have legitimise their stay in power through this route. The problem with Gaddafi is he is a very proud man, he doesn’t want to stoop down and contest in an election, personally I do not see anything wrong in it, he is popular in Tripoli, half the country lives in Tripoli he could easily have won a free and fair election by bribing and buy votes plus the added fact that he is popular in that city. Benghazi would just have been a bastion for opposition politics. I hate it when a country that is doing well gets reduced to chaos and anarchy, it does not make sense.

Why bother with the election if he is going to bribe and buy votes,  This is why Africans are viewed as not so intelligent. With views like this how can we move forward.

This is why Nigeria has a bad reputation. it was an accident even if its a stupid one, why run? We are so selfis and self centered and this goes to show Nigeria is a lawless country if you think you can kill innocent children and find a safe haven in your country. she should be brought back immediately. Unfortunately we all have to suffer for her stupidity shocked

The only thing dead in Nollywood is Emeka Ike. I still can't wrap my head around why this guy never made it to the A-List. He had all the opportunities but choose to wallow in mediocracy playing childish roles. His camera presence was always very embarrassing to look at. Yet he makes the loudest noise

I am more concerned about their experience. As far as I am concerned too many people in Nigeria die from medical mistakes. I do not have any problem with increasing their salaries. They also have to set a higher standard for the education of these physicians. I am tired of the trial and error medical practice that is so common in our country.
Nairaland / General / Re: Stage Fright: How To Overcome by newintexas: 3:36pm On Nov 08, 2010
I can totally relate with this person's fears. I had to give a course presentation a few weeks ago. i was a total wreck. i have never been so nervous in my life. i got a grade i was not happy with. apart from my nerves, i did not practice at all, which i take total responsibility for. couple with the fact that i was so concious of my accent which was really unnecessary as everyone has an accent whether American, Iindian or Jamaican. it was just in my head and i could not over come it. I am working on it though.
Religion / Re: God is Awesome by newintexas: 8:11pm On Oct 27, 2010
Congratulations to the poster. I can totally understand your joy after all that you have experienced in Nigeria. The one thing I do not agree with, which I think sounded a bit bitter is the fact that you expected your relative to help you get a job in Nigeria. Seriously, there is no law that says that once you have a relative in high position, it automatically qualifies you for a job opportunity. Having said that, I am a Nigerian that lived in the U.S for twelve years. I thought it was the best thing that happened when I got there, but the truth is if you conduct a vote, you will see that Nigerians and other immigrants are quickly disillusioned. Best advice. Get your self educated. Your degree from Nigeria will not get you anywhere. Educate yourself ASAP, cos if you fall into the CNA class or work with mentally retarded people which is the easiest job to get, you will find your dreams crashing around you. Believe it, getting there is the easy part. oh, Americans are becoming very protective and territorial about their jobs.
Celebrities / Re: What Is It With D Banj Showing His Dry Chest While Performing? by newintexas: 7:11pm On Oct 27, 2010
Truthfully, the chest is a bit dry. I guess the reason he shows it so much is to appeal to his fans. But six pack or not, it is not appealing if it is not the right body size. HOLD THE ATTACK, its my personal opinion, haaa the joy of freedom of speech.
