Family / Re: Should Micheal Essien (of Chelsea FC) Support His Father More? by newintexas: 6:48pm On May 24, 2010
He is like most shameless black men with a sense of self entitlement. They want to keep producing kids but don't want to be responsible for their upbringing and if one of the kids happens to get successful, they start grumbling shameslessly. Not the first, neither will he be the last. most black celebrities are victims of child abandonement, not to talk of millions of other regular kids, especially black kids and this is one of the biggest reason why millions of young black men find it difficult to be as successful as other kids from other races and why so many young women end up selling their bodies, all to find a way for their families to survive.
sadBlacks in general have long way to go in every aspect, when parents wants to reap where they did not sow. Affects generation upon generation
Travel / Re: Holiday In Tx Us by newintexas: 8:18pm On May 23, 2010
otawa:

why on earth will you want to do Holiday in Houston, Tx?

This is like doing holiday in Niger Delta.

umm. so much for Holiday:

Trust me your kids will love looking at the beautiful homes there for a start.

it has lots of water slides that the kids will enjoy too

They have Ice skating ring right in the middle of the mall where kids can have skatin lessons

Also take them to incredible Pizza on highway Six in sugarland, lovely place for kids to eat assortment of pizzas

You see thats all Houston has to offer. You are a better off in Lagos!

since you going US anyway, better you go to Disney Land in Orlando as suggested.

Normally I don't reply post written by small brained posters, , If she had wanted to go to Florida, I am sure she is smart enough to figure that out by herself, she asked for advice in Texas and that is exactly what she wrote, but its obvious that you have not widened your horizon enough to realise that all holidays in the U.S does not have to end in Disney land.

I lived in Sugarland Tx for five years. absolutely one of the most beautiful cities in the U.S. Trust me your kids will love looking at the beautiful homes there for a start. You can go to kemah, its an exciting theme park for both kids and parents. There is another place in town, its on Beechnut Rd, it has lots of water slides that the kids will enjoy too. Don't forget to visit Galeria Mall for fabulous shopping experience. They have Ice skating ring right in the middle of the mall where kids can have skatin lessons, you don't have to buy the skate, they provide one. Also take them to incredible Pizza on highway Six in sugarland, lovely place for kids to eat assortment of pizzas and other varieties of food and play games at the same time. They will love Dave and Bursters too, or chucky cheeses. Try "Six Flags" too. The beauty of Houston is that you don't have to travel far to get all the fun. You have almost everything in town. Here are some other places. The aquarium, THe houston Zoo. will give more info as i remember them
Politics / Re: Church Where Founder's Skeleton Is Worshiped Lwkmd! by newintexas: 12:28am On May 18, 2010
The only sad part of this is that our spiritual leaders have turned CHRISTIANITY INTO A BIG JOKE. When most of them spend half of the church service Glorifying themselves, its not suprising that those poor souls have been easily brain washed to worship their spiritual leaders instead of God. This is why all humans should fight against poverty, because when you are poor and uneducated you get easily manipulated.
Sickening Really!!!
Politics / Re: Benin City - by newintexas: 3:33am On May 13, 2010
I was born and grew up in Benin, and as much as it hurts to read some of the things written here, it also saddens me that most of it is the truth. I have often wondered why my home city has remain in the squalor it's in to this day. Everything bad and evil happens in that city, kidnapping, armed robbery, international prostitution, where you see parents and husbands sending their loved ones abroad to go prostitute and all this mostly becos the next door neighbour built a five bedroom duplex, idol worshipping, and yet you find churches in every street corner, you cannot worship two Gods at the same time, but it appears that message has not reached my people. We have the biggest hypocrites too, I mean how do you explain the way the Igbinedion family is worshipped by the same people that they robbed. There is chronic lack of exposure, that is why you see most of the men still living in their family homes in their thirtys. Another big problem is our inability to let go of old things e.g traditions that have brought us nothing but set backs, when the world is moving on, we are still hanging on and putting so much importance to irrelevant things, and because we put so much importance to what people say about us or our family we are afraid to break away from the usual mode or way of doing things. The worse disease in Benin, is ENVY, you dare not be successful, because the next thing you will know is someone is out there trying to eliminate you. This is one of the reasons you see the successful sons and daughters never going back home to invest in the city and a city where no one is putting money into will definately deteroriate and that is exactly what is happening in Benin. Until we change our mentality and begin to realise that when one person is successful and is given the opportunity to create other opportunities for other people, then Benin will remain the way it is. We need common sense, Nothing will happen in Benin until it becomes a safe place to come to.

Politics / Another Nigerian Scam On Dateline Nbc by newintexas: 12:44am On May 03, 2010
I am just watching a new Nigerian scam on dateline nbc. This guy was so bold he came to the U.S to deliver the so called inheritance money. I didn't know these shameless Nigerians are so desperate they can put everything on the line. Bye Mr Grant, see you in the next twenty some years when you get out of jail. I was praying so much it will not be a Nigerian, but this is definately an Ibo Man with his thick accent. What a shame. this is what comes out from a country where stealing is a way of life and it is glorified everyday,
Politics / Re: Acting President Goodluck Jonathan And His Too Many Grammatical Errors by newintexas: 2:56am On Apr 18, 2010
Its only Nigerians that place so much emphasis on the way one speaks English. Some of the great leaders in the world can not speak one complete sentence in English, but it does not stop them from doing their jobs to the best of their ability. The french and Russian presidents or whatever title they use are typical example of leaders who goes everywhere with translators, it does not embarass their people because they are smart enough to know that intelligence does not start with speaking good English. This is why I fear so much that it will be difficult for Nigerians to focus on real issues that affects us a nation, because we spend too much time on trivialties. Nigeria is fighting so hard to take a step to the right direction but we have too many dim wits with issues like Grammatical error that will continue to slow us down.

shocked shocked shocked :oMy heart dropped as I read this. I didn't think things could get this low in Nigeria. Who is Erricson to dictate who can work in Nigeria. I live in canada and if there is anyone here who lives in Canada, you should be able to bear witness to how the Indians can take over a whole city or state. This is the worse mistake our leaders can let happen because when you employ one Indian person, they will bring about 100 more from their family or village. They are lice when it comes to jobs, when one gets in, they multiply to hundreds if not thousands. They are taking over Canadian jobs, and they don't let anyone else come in. Pls this should not happen, we will so regret it. There are qualified Nigerians out there if only they will be given the chance to prove themselves instead of people bribing to get the position. oh, and when the Indians come, they come with their wives, husbands. husbands father and mother, wife's father and mother, brothers and sisters- in- law and they can all manage to live in two bedrooms. That is why they accept cheap pay. shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

Politics / Re: Dele Momodu Replies Nairalanders! by newintexas: 3:03am On Dec 11, 2009
I have to say this is one of the best post I have ever read in Nairaland. My sensibilities have been offended by this man DELE MOMODU for a very long time in the way he has blatantly displayed the wealth of these corrupt leaders. He has a moral obligation to his country to do what he can to stop or help stop the corruption that is eating into the soul of Nigeria. It really goes to show his level of unprofessionalism if he thinks that people airing their worries and honest opinions about what is going on in Nigeria are either fustrated or do it out of envy. As someone said 7000 members out of the millions of Nigerian on facebook is not an achievement. Is he from Edo state, if he is I am ashamed of Him.
Celebrities / Dele Momodu: A Celebrity Or An Enabler Of Corruption by newintexas: 11:51pm On Dec 02, 2009
As the Editor of one of the most powerful Magazines in Nigeria, Dele Momodu has broken grounds like never before in the innovative way his "OVATION" magazine took off. I have read and looked through pics of afluent Nigerians and their "achievements". My problem is what the new defination of achievements is in Nigeria. Do we have it so bad in Nigeria that we do not know the difference between corruption and real achievements. It blows my mind the way our corrupt leaders are exhalted in this magazine. Millioens and Millions of Nigerians struggle each and everyday to get clean water to drink, lets not even talk of getting healthcare, yet this magazine goes on and on about  the millions of Dollars, the Yaraduas, Babangidas, the Abachas and the Igbinedions spend on a monthly basis for one celebration or another. Mr Momodu knowing fully well how these families are bleeding Nigeria dry continues to showcase, the flashy cars, jewellries and the million dollar homes built with the money of the great people of Nigeria. How long will this go on. How do we put an end to these attrocities and when will Nigerian's wake up to start fighting for their rights. , Does it give me sleepless night, you bet you it does. Our generation are wasting away, Young Intelligent Nigerians have resorted to all sorts of dubious means to support their family and I think Dele Momodu should be held accountable for his contribution to the continous celebration of corruption in Nigeria. How do we hold him accountable, simple, stop buying the magazine. You don't need guns and daggars to become effective in your fight for justice, there are simple and effective ways to do it and every Nigerian should start coming up with ways to put our country in the right path.

Politics / Re: Which City In Nigeria Would You Like To Live In? Why? by newintexas: 7:50pm On Oct 11, 2009
ABUJA. Though Idont live in naija, I visited three states when i came recently, Lagos, Benin and Abuja. I have to say Abuja was my favorite even though I was born in Benin. I love the diversity. So many people from different etnicity all thriving to become successful. Their is a calmness there that you will not find in Lagos. Everyone seem to be taking life easy and no too much in a rush coupled witht the fact that the roads are suprisingly good and i actually saw lots of police patrol cars in excellent condition and with , flashing sirens. Benin is still in a very poor state. Lagos is too rowdy, I stayed with my  cousin in Lekki and electricity was zeroo and that is a neighbourhood with million $orN homes. But having your family around makes up for all the short comings. Still love my naija,

,mama-gee:

So, you expect Obama to cleanse the land in 9 months what George Bush took 8 years to destroy? undecided
Its unbelievable how American's expect so much change in just a few months. They spent eight years destroying people's lives but one thing they did not realise was that while they were  busy in their destruction, they were getting their own even when no war was happening in their country. oh and what can Obama do when it has become the mission of the right wing to object and try to stop every thing he does. Rush Linburge wants him to fail, but he forgets that if Obama fails the whole America will fail too and they might never recover from that failure. The negative energy in America is too much and I am afraid that negative energy will bring negative results!!!

I mean high end shoes, but then I don't want to cater to just the rich. I want to have an open market for lower to middle class to upper class.

Celebrities / Re: Genevieve Nnaji On Oprah by newintexas: 5:37pm On Sep 30, 2009
the viper:

@omar22, look even if u hammer on this issue from now till the kingdom come, pple who are twisted will still see it as hating Genevive. i have nothing against her.good for her that oprah mentioned her name. my big beef is this, the woman made a sweeping derogatory remarks against this country and instead of saying sorry, she picked a nigerians book and mentioned miss Nnajis name and expect us to snuggle up to her fat bossom. what it means in plain language (for those living far from reality) is that even our Genny and Apkan are corrupt criminals as well and pple are too blind to see that. i have nothing against the babe, never met her in person in my life and have no intention of hating her. afterall it was not her fault that she got mentioned. bt the truth is that u dont make amends this ways. oprah may be the biggest thing in the us,bt she is still a nigga. she considers us as evil and corrupt, then went ahead and built her school in south africa where all the kids were raped thereafter. it wasnt the bad nigerians who raped those kids.oprah was lucky that she wasnt around when the rape machines rolled into that school, her ass woulda be on fire at the end of the tearing. Ted Turner (CNN founder) once said that christianity is a religion of loosers.  he came under serious fire from xtians. he didn't go about picking xtians to put on Cnn,HELL NO!, he said AM SORRY and he is still saying that till date.why is oprah finding it difficult to accept that she made a mistake and say sorry to nigerians instead of these bullshits. she cant say things like that to the jewish community,or the indians or the chinese or the muslims. Any1 who wants can give his di, k or pus, y to be on oprahs show,i wont even give a stray dog
I totally understand your point of view and I really don't think Oprah showed us in a good light and I am a big admirer of her because she is a good  and very giving person, unlike some Billionaires around. But lets face the fact, Nigerians have not really shown themselves in good light. what are we known for, especially our young men other than "Odu" or "Guy man". Nigerians are  the only ones who take pride in being thieves and it starts right from the top. from our useless good for nothing leaders who spend their time glorifying their ill gotten wealth and dispplaying it in various magazines eg ovation. I live in Canada where we have so many cultures from all over the world, the Indians are taking over the country  becos when they come they start from the bottom and work their way to the top, so are athe chinese, hungarians, ukrainians to name a few, but do you know Nigerians are known for "Fraud". they have even given it a name "The Nigerian Fraud mail". We all need to refocus our attention, instead of looking at your neighbour that lives in a big house and drives a luxury car, we should focus on starting from the bottom and working our way to the top. instead of looking for the fastest way to get there. Jelaousy, envy and competition is our biggest problems. We will contnue to have bad name as long as we contiue our dubious ways. So my dear, Oprah is not the problem. we are the architect of our own bad name.

Thats a matter of your opinion. I am not one to give up on Nigeria. The movies might not be up there right now, but then Rome was not built in a day. I dont have much respect for citizens who go gaga for hollywood movies and sing praises of all the good things happening in other countries and are scornful of their own country. That's why foreigners don't have much respect in diaspora but most especially Africans. If we all contribute in our own small way, Nigeria will one day be a great country. That does not mean I do not understand your fustration but giving up will not help either

It baffles me that most Nigerian actors and actresses have still not polished up to a higher standard. I mean, the wigs some of them put on is so embarassing, i sometimes feel my face burn with embarassment. Typical example is Omotola and Mercy Johnson. I am not here to judge, so what can we do to improve their looks.

He knows she is a stripper and they really don't have much standing in society. That is why he shows her no respect and wants the world to know she is nothing more than an organ to be used and discarded. If a man loves a woman he shows pride in being with her and treats her with respect and not display her naked pictures for the world to see.

@Chiogo, Wish I can have the best of both worlds. The weather is georgeous from November to around april. Hardly any Winter. Definately no snow. Then Five to six months of miserable 90+ degree summer heat. After sometime you just get tired of the heat. Actually hotter than Naija in summer. so I can't really say. other than the heat. I will take texas any day. beautiful homes. good roads, good place to bring kids up.
