Religion / Code Of Silence: The Urgency To Save Nigerian Churches. by newintexas: 7:20pm On Sep 23, 2010 |
Extra Mantra and Poems Extra Mantra and Poems is devoted to lovers of poetry (poems and the creative art). It aligns with those who like to use the words to change the world. Feel free to make your comments. Life is poem! Write a poem today! Welcome on board. Sunday, September 13, 2009 poem: MAN OF GOD Clothed with the Finest of linen And silkiest of silks For the most Theatrical of effect The 21st Century Men of God, Stage performers Prosperity pastors Criss-cross the world In jets, Private or chartered Preaching wealth, Health and healing Abundance of it Fleecing their followers With their gifts of the gab In the name of God Tutored infirm Suddenly healed; The ‘spirit’ overpowered Rolling, like logs On the floor Believers’ cheer, scream In the seemingly Atmosphere for miracles A rhapsody, Oblivious of reality Ah, Emmanuel on TV Christ in an embassy Men of God Preachers of wealth, health, and healing Swindlers of the faithfuls Robbers of souls Enemies of Christ! The code of silence needs to be broken in Nigerian churches. The Greed and Corruption pervading Nigerian churches are becoming more and more troubling. For those that have been black listed for daring to speak up, pls remain strong in the Lord. The house of God has become the new wall street for our supposed spiritual leaders. We are moving from the real reasons why we go to church to worship and focusing too much on how the pastors think about us. |

Religion / Re: Pastor Chris Says "Take It" And People Fall. Do You Believe It? by newintexas: 2:34am On Jun 24, 2010 |
@Harakiri, It shows with all your quotatios and questions, that you have a good knowledge of the bible and I guess if you ddin't want to know God, you would not have spent so much time studying the bible, My advice is not to let a few misguided and greedy men of God stop you from knowing the supreme being which you so readily believe in because that supreme being is GOD. You can worship God without depending so much on the preachings of these pastors |
Religion / Re: Pastor Chris Says "Take It" And People Fall. Do You Believe It? by newintexas: 2:26am On Jun 24, 2010 |
I have to say this guy brings up some very important point which needs to be addresssed. I used to attend Christ Embassy in Houston and I have to say everything was going on fine until Pastor Ken was sent to take over the church after the scandal that followed in South Africa, I have never seen such arrogance from a man of God, Pls don't get me wrong he is a good preacher, but some things just can't be over looked. Was I dissappointed in the things that were going on, you bet I was, but has that stopped me from Believing No. God is not the issue, its his so called representatives that have brought so much shame to the religion, Christianity is what every pastor makes it. they read and interprete the bible to their own understanding. The shameless brain washhing and manipulation of the less fortunate is neaseating. How do you explain a pastor boasting to his congragation of how he went to the car mall to buy a porche but when the sales man did not respond to him the way he wanted, he went to the shop next door and bought a bentley, just to show to the sales man who he was, That is the same church where most of the members can barely pay their rent or mortgage, At the end of the day, its your state of mind and how much love you have for God that will really determine who you are as a christian and we all need a lot of common sense, an open mind and your willingness to admit that these pastors are human and therefore fallable, |

Are any medical experiment to prove that GREED is a mental illness?. I cannot seriously explain how one man can steal $70Million for just himself and his family, with total disregard to the millions of people the money was meant for. How can anyone sleep and live with a clear conscience knowing that people are dying from lack of food or even clean water while you pocket millions for your family, send your children to the best schools and vacations all over the world, And still feel proud about it. There has to be some kind of mental disability in it. |

For those following the story, I just can't wrap my brains around this guy, Five years ago, he was accused of killing Natalie Holloway, Now he has confessed to killing another girl in Peru. This is bad enough, but to think that he was trying to extort money from the first victim's mother, in hopes of revealing to her how he killed her and where he buried her is just mind bugling. Can any human really sink this low. As a mother of three children, I have tried to imagine what this woman must be going through in the hand of this monster. My questions is Did God really create him or is he a devil incarnate, Is anyone as shocked as I am? |

Politics / Re: Benin Monarch, Traditionalists To Curse Criminals by newintexas: 9:47pm On Jun 09, 2010 |
It is very sad that my place of birth has deteriorated to what it is today. I have always wondered why the Oba has let this go on for so long. I am a christian and do not know if these curses really work. But the way things are going, drastic steps have to be taken if not Edo state will never recover from the evil and violence that has rendered the place useless. Maybe if the works, then the sons and daughters of the state will not be so scared to go back home to develop their state and invest in it. My doubt in this is that the Igbinedions have gotten away with so much atrocities and have disrespected the monarchy for so long that alot of people do not have faith in the Oba anymore and I am one of them. Having said this, How do we then deal with the evil that goes on within families, especially those that have relatives living abroad. 50% that do come back home end up hanging in lagos or abuja for fear of being killed. Edo state is the saddest, poorest and small minded state in the whole Nigeria and its going to take more than the Oba and his chief's to make a difference. But it is a start, the second the people needs to do is to stop glorifying the likes of the Igbinedions that have robbed the place dry. By the time everyone shuns them and make them outcast, then everyone will learn their lessons. |

Religion / Re: RCCG Pastors Have Started Implementing The Dress Code? by newintexas: 2:21am On Jun 04, 2010 |
Hope they are willing to fore go their private jets and luxury cars too. This is the reason why I battle with myself everyday about Nigerian churches. All the pastors wants to play God. They have all turned their churches to their private money making coperation and spend much too much time exalting themselves and the miracles they perform. Sometimes you wonder why you are really there, to worship God or to hear these pastors go on and on about what they have achieved. And its also sickening how they manage to interpret the bible to suit their way of life and reasoning. It saddens me they way they are turning christianity into a joke |

Just because one is older does not give you the right to disrespect someone that is younger. I have always thought this woman sometimes acts juvenile, with all the ridiculous outfit she has been spotted with lately all in the name of being a celebrity. To gain respect, you have to respect others and yourself regardless of their age. Don't dish out if you can't take it. she is too much sometimes and just turns people off. |
