Mr Eazi is flying the Nigerian (and Ghanaian) flag not just with his good music but also with his awesome sense of style which is getting more than a few nods from the global fashion circle. The ‘Hol’ Up’ singer was recently featured in a Vogue editorial where he was described as ‘The Nigerian-Ghanaian Pop Star Putting West African Style on the Map’. In the interview, Eazi talks stirring up a lot of controversies with the Ghana-Must-Go outfits he wore on the promotional artworks for his Lagos To Accra mixtape. He told Vogue that while he indeed caught lots of flacks for the choice of fabric, he started a trend which is now being copied by people on Instagram. http://www.newshelm.com/2017/03/photos-mr-eazi-says-he-started-trend.html cc lalasticlala

Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on Wednesday wrote the National Assembly, seeking approval to float another $500m Eurobond. The request was contained in a letter he wrote the legislature in Abuja. At the House of Representatives, the Speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, read Osinbajo’s letter to members during Wednesday’s plenary. “The Act also provided for domestic borrowing of N1.1tn and external borrowing of N635.8bn in items 245 and 246, respectively. The Speaker may also wish to note that whilst the approved domestic borrowing has been fully incurred, the N635.8bn external borrowing has not been fully accessed. “The external borrowing incurred to date consists of $600m from the African Development Bank and $1bn Eurobond from the international capital market only. Thus, based on the 2016 appropriation and applying the average exchange rate, there is headroom to access further international funds.” http://www.newshelm.com/2017/02/acting-president-prof-yemi-osinbajo.html

Lagos residents have expressed their displeasure following the recent development that popular fast food chain, KFC, will shut down operations across the State. It was learnt that all KFC outlets in Lagos will shut down operations from tomorrow, Monday, February 20, 2017, except the ones operative in shoppong malls due to low patronage and high cost of power. As a result, KFC Outlets in popular areas such as Ilupeju, Sabo, Ikeja, Ogba and other parts of Lagos metropolis will effectively close with residents unable to have their favourite meal at the outlets. While one can’t rule out the current economic downturn in the country as a factor leading to the decision by the company, this development has however led to a myriad of Lagosians condemning the economic policies of the present administration in the country. According to Muyiwa Olumide, “it is so sad businesses shut down due to low sales and high cost of power.” Another resident, Oluseun succinctly puts his thought as “the industry is so cold.” Efforts to reach the management of KFC for comments proved futile as at press time. It is however shocking that KFC is shutting down operations at a time when other fast food outlets such as Mega Chicken, The Place, Dominos and more are expanding operations in Lagos. http://www.newshelm.com/2017/02/lagosians-groan-as-kfc-outlets-shut.html cc lalasticlala

David Adeleke popularly known as Davido may have returned to his normal lifestyle after he worshipped at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG City of David, Victoria Island, Lagos last sunday. Davido on his Instagram has a photo that captioned him smoking. This has set tongues wagging that could he actually have surrendered his life to God, especially as he testified at the church service and vowed that he would serve God for the rest of his life. The 'Aye' crooner beneath the picture wrote: ''Creative Control Returned... New Music In 2 Days...'' Perhaps, this means he has returned to his lifestyle or that service to God has not taken smoking from him. http://www.newshelm.com/2017/02/photo-vowed-to-serve-god-davido-smokes.html cc lalasticlala

Spokesperson to controversial governor of Ekiti State, Mr Lere Olayinka has lashed out to Nigeria's Health Minister, Prof. Isaac Adewole for faulting the research done by one Prof who claimed he's found cure for HIV/Aids. 'Mr. Health Minister, Are You Mad?' - Fayose's Aide, Lere Asks Adewole Olayinka who wrote this on his Facebook timeline said: ''Mr Health Minister, are you the one madding mad or mad is madding you? Should not obtaining your stupid permit before carrying out the research be the issue or the effectiveness of The drug? I understand your plight and those of your vampires in the health ministry anyway. The moment there is a drug that can cure HIV/AIDS from Nigeria, all those WHO grants on HIV/AIDS prevention will stop.'' Recall that Prof. Isaac Adewole, on Wednesday said it had been established that the experiment carried out by a professor of veterinary medicine and clinical virology was illegal. Prof. Maduike Ezeibe of Veterinary Medicine and Clinical Virology Department, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umuahia, Abia, was reported to have developed a drug that eliminated the deadly virus in some patients. Ezeibe claimed that the drug, which was produced with “Aluminium Magnesium Silicate”, had the clinical ability to “reach all cells’’ and make HIV “a conquered organism”. http://www.newshelm.com/2017/02/mr-health-minister-are-you-mad-fayoses.html
