The immediate former governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has explained why he tried to leave Nigeria hours after he handed over to his successor, Chukwuma Soludo.

Obiano handed over power to Soludo on Thursday, March 17 and was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos a few hours later while trying to leave the country.

In an interview with Premium Times, Obiano, through his lawyer, Patrick Ikwueto (a Senior Advocate of Nigeria), said he was not running away but was rather hurrying to keep a doctor’s appointment to treat a “semi fatal condition”.

“He was not running away. Why will he run away when his family is here and he has a lot to do here? The fact is that he (Obiano) has a medical condition for which he had a prior appointment to see his Specialist Doctor for treatment at Spring Creek Urology Specialists LLC, Houston, Texas, U.S.A.

“By the nature of his ailment, he has been undergoing treatment at the said Specialist Hospital since June 2021 and had an appointment earlier scheduled for the final stage of Specialist Radiography for eight ( weeks – which will take place immediately upon his arrival at the Facility in Houston, Texas, U.S.A; and thereafter, after four days. Subsequent treatments are scheduled every day for a period of eight ( weeks,” he said.

Ikwueto said the former governor had since mid-last year received treatment at the US medical facility every three months.

“The last time he was there was December 2021 and became due for another round of treatment this March shortly before he handed over to Soludo,” the lawyer said.

The lawyer refused to disclose the nature of the ailment.

“He (Obiano) was lucky that the disease was detected on time. It was still at an early stage when he was diagnosed last year,” said a source familiar with the former governor’s medical condition.

The lawyer also said the former governor was granted permission by the federal authorities to travel for urgent medical treatment and that the former governor was surprised that after he was given assurance that he could proceed on his trip, he was blocked at the airport.

“I can tell you that after the media reported that the EFCC placed him on its watchlist, he reached out to authorities at the federal level to seek permission to travel for his scheduled medical treatment,” the lawyer said.

Shehu Sani, a former federal lawmaker, has suggested that former Nigeria international, Taribo West, should pray for the Super Eagles ahead of their 2022 FIFA World Cup second leg playoff against the Black Stars of Ghana.

Nigeria will host Ghana on Tuesday in Abuja, having played a 0-0 draw in the first leg last Friday in Kumasi.

On January 13, 2022, Nigerians woke up and could access micro-blogging site Twitter without any virtual private network (VPN).

The last time they could do that was June 6, 2021.

A few days after Twitter took down a tweet from President Muhammadu Buhari, he announced via his Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, that the site was suspended in the country.

The news was met with backlash from Nigerians, even as the government warned that those who continued to tweet via whatever means will be prosecuted. This threat was later withdrawn.

The international community and rights organisations viewed the Twitter ban as a blatant fight against media freedom and access to information.

In spite of all this outrage, Buhari remained adamant. Instead, he set up a committee to liaise with Twitter and listed conditions to be met before their operations are restored.

According to Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, the Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), some of the agreements that have now been reached with Twitter include legal registration of operations, taxation, and managing prohibited publications in line with Nigerian laws.

Nigerians are taking all of this with a pinch of salt.

Most believe that the lifting of the ban is not unconnected with the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

“Lifted in time for election season,” TV host and political buff, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, tweeted.

UK-based Nigerian doctor, @DrOlufunmilayo, also feels the timing is indeed linked with online and digital campaigns.

“It was unconstitutional, stupid and evil. Those who perpetrated it are unfit to lead and those who supported them are unfit to be citizens of this country.

“They basically infringed on Nigerians’ freedom to communicate, engage in commerce and connect, which are the things Twitter helps with.

“They banned it for over 200 days. That shows we are not in a democracy. What we have is a semblance of democracy.

“The Senate did not kick against it. The legislative arm of government was powerless about it and gave the executive a free run. Even the media houses that complied with the ban did not help,” Okereke fumed.

A man was left horrified after a blocked ear he believed was from water turned out to have a cockroach hiding inside it.

Zane Wedding, from Auckland, New Zealand, woke up with a strange sensation after he went swimming the day before.

He decided to go to the doctors as he could feel movement in his ear, even then sitting still.

Zane was originally prescribed antibiotics and was instructed to blow a hairdryer near his ear in an attempt to dry out the area.

However, the sensation would not go away after two nights of little sleep so he decided to see a specialist at an ear clinic.
The doctor at the clinic was left shocked, letting out an “oh my god” which caused the patient to jump.

According to the New Zealand Herald, Zane was told: “I think you have an insect in your ear”.

For the next few minutes, the disbelieving doctor tried to extract the bug but could only manage to pull the first half of a full-sized cockroach out.

To dislodge the rest of the insect’s body, a suction machine was used to successfully clear his ear.

Before discovering the insect in his ear, the doctor first believed Zane may have had a tumour.

He said the whole incident made him “physically sick”.

“She kept saying: ‘Oh my God’. When she first said it I thought I had a tumour.”
Zane believes if he has not gone to get a second opinion, he could have been left with the cockroach still roaming in his ear.

He was also concerned after learning what was in his ear that the first doctor’s advice could have seen him essentially boiling up the cockroach.

“I was basically doing a boil-up of that cockroach. On Sunday, I’d be sitting still and feel something moving around. I was deaf in that ear for those three days.”

Today’ s gist is all about a married man who physically assaulted his wife for wearing a very short skirt without putting on her pants while doing their house chores in Zimbabwe.

Just recently, it was brought to the notice of the people of Zimbabwe and the world at large how a 35- year- old man whose identity was still yet to be revealed was arrested for beating up his 30- year- old wife to a pulp for putting on a very short skirt without wearing any pants while cleaning the passage of their 3- bedroom apartment in Zimbabwe.

It was also reported that the 35- year- old Zimbabwean man who was later identified as Mr. Terrence Watyoka was arrested by the police officers of the Zimbabwe Republic Police and was charged with going to court for physically attacking his 30- year- old wife, who was later identified as Monica Chipwanya, with a claw hammer for wearing a very short skirt without her panties while doing house chores in their three- bedroom apartment in Kadoma, Zimbabwe.

However, it was reported that Mr. Terrence Watyoka pleaded guilty to the assault charges leveled against him before the Mbare Magistrate court in Harare, Zimbabwe.

During his trial at Mbare Magistrate court in Harare, the 35- year- old man, Mr. Watyoka, stated that he returned home around 12: 00 noon on Tuesday afternoon, November 30, 2021, and saw his 30- year- old wife, Mrs. Monica Chipwanya, cleaning the passage of their three- bedroom apartment while putting on a very short skirt without wearing pants, which made him beat her up in their sitting room in Kadoma, Zimbabwe.

Also, it was said that his 30- year- old wife, Mrs. Monica Chipwanya, sustained multiple injuries from the claw hammer that her husband, Mr. Terrence Watyoka, used to attack and beat her inside their apartment. Due to fear for her life, Mrs. Monica Chipwanya was said to have fled from her husband, Mr. Terrence Watyoka, and filed a police report against him, which led to his arrest by the police officers of the Zimbabwe Republic Police.

Moreover, Mr. Terrence Watyoka did not waste the court’ s time as he immediately pleaded guilty to the assault charges leveled against him by the presiding Judge of Mbare Magistrate Court in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Therefore, the Magistrate of the Mbare Magistrate Court in Harare, Zimbabwe sentenced the suspect, Mr. Terrence Watyoka, to 13 months in prison but later suspended the entire sentence due to his cooperation in the court of law.

An Italian doctor has been arrested after he was caught half-naked in a hotel room with a female ‘patient’ offering to cure her illness by having sex with her.

Dr. Giovanni Miniello, 60, who called his penis the ‘magic flute,’ was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault against two women by police in the southern city of Bari.

The gynaecologist was the target of an undercover sting by a TV show after one of his patients told producers how he had offered to ‘decontaminate’ her of the human papillomavirus (HPV) – despite her testing negative for the infection.

Investigative news programme ‘Le Lene’ sent an actress who secretly filmed herself undergoing an examination, receiving the same diagnosis and agreeing to meet Miniello in a hotel room.

Footage showed the doctor calling his penis the ‘magic flute’ and the ‘Padre Pio of joysticks’. Padre Pio was a 20th century priest renowned for healing.

But before he thought he was about to have sex with her, a journalist came into the room and surprised the half-naked doctor, who reportedly said: ‘I’m doing this for my studies — and for the other people that I have saved’

She asked Miniello about wearing protection but he told her it was pointless as she would not then receive the antibodies that he claimed protected him from HPV.

As he lay down on the bed, a reporter entered the room to challenge him on his methods and he not only repeated the claim, but took his phone out to ring former patients he said he had cured.

He was arrested on Tuesday and placed under house arrest in relation to the two incidents, dating back to September 2019 and June 2021.

Miniello’s methods came to light after Anna Maria, 33, got in contact with La Repubblica newspaper and later La Iene TV show.

She had consulted the gynaecologist about being unable to get pregnant, and he told the woman she had signs of HPV, despite a negative Pap smear test.

‘I have saved many women from cancer. All those I have had contact with were negative afterwards,’ he reportedly told her.

She decided to contact La Repubblica, alleging that Miniello had touched her breasts inappropriately and told her he liked women with small breasts.

When she contacted him for the results of the test, she said she was shocked when he proposed having sex with her to cure her.

The woman then reached out to the investigative news program ‘Le lene,’ which hired an actress to portray a patient.

Minello told her that she had ‘white spots’ on her cervix, which indicated the presence of HPV. He then offered to have sex with her.

Minello also claimed that having sex with somebody like him who had been vaccinated would give her immunity, and he offered to see if he could immunise her by having sex with her.

The undercover actress then agreed to meet him in a hotel, where he again assured her as he undressed that afterwards she would be free from the virus.

While there, when she asked about protection, he told her that it was pointless as she would not then get the benefit of the antibodies if he had a condom on.

But before he thought he was about to have sex with her, a journalist came into the room and surprised the half-naked doctor, who reportedly said: ‘I’m doing this for my studies — and for the other people that I have saved.’

Despite the smear test showing all negative results for HPV, the actress was still told she had the virus

Through his lawyer, Miniello said: ‘I, who have successfully treated hundreds of women for over 40 years … only proposed an alternative treatment that has yielded results,’ adding that he never forced women to have sex with him.

As a result of the TV investigation, 15 other women have come forward and claimed they were also victims of the doctor and his miracle sex cure.

President Muhammadu Buhari has performed the Umrah (Lesser Hajj) at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, alongside the minister of communications Isa Pantami, and business moguls Aliko Dangote, Wale Tinubu and Abdulsamad Rabiu.

Umrah, is a religious ritual of great significance performed by Muslim Ummah for the sake of Allah. It is believed that all the requests made while performing the act are answered by Allah.

The President was also joined in the Umrah by his aides including, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, the State Chief of Protocol, Amb. Lawal Kazaure; the president’s personal physician, Dr Suhayb Rafindadi and the Chief Security Officer, Idris Ahmed.

The ritual was completed by the president and members of his entourage at the Holy Kaaba on Thursday, at about 3.20a.m local time.

President Buhari, travelled to Saudi Arabia for the Fifth Edition of the ”Future Investment Initiative Summit” which held in Riyadh.

He had a brief stopover in Madinah for intense prayers for the return of peace and security to Nigeria, and for the recovery of economy battered by the COVID-19 pandemic.

A mother who still breastfeeds her two boys, aged five and six, has said she won’t stop until they decide they are ready – despite one son claiming he wants to be nursed until he is 10.

Sheryl Wynne, 39, from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, says that breastfeeding her school-aged sons is ‘completely normal’ as it has cemented a lifelong bond between them and made them ‘closer’.

The mother-of-two breastfeeds both Riley, six, and Mylo, five, before school, in the evening and throughout the night – and has even fed them in the pre-school playground.

Sheryl argues that ‘mummy milk’ is the ‘ultimate parenting tool’ as it helps calm the children and comforts them when they’re upset or ill.

However Sheryl says she does receive negative comments from strangers and even family members, who question if the ‘way her children behave’ is down to them still being breastfed – but Sheryl argues that ‘that’s children’.

Although she originally planned to stop breastfeeding the boys when Riley was three, she wants them to be part of the decision – and he has said he won’t stop until he’s ten.

Sheryl, a hypnobirthing teacher and doula, said: ‘I think about when I’ll stop all of the time.

‘It’s never felt right to end it unnecessarily. It’s what they’re asking for and it’s biologically normal even if it’s not in society.

‘We started the conversation when Riley was three when they would stop having mummy milk and Riley said when he’s ten and I told him there’s no chance.

‘The choice isn’t just mine, it’s a relationship because it’s something we do together.

‘It’s not like I don’t have a choice, a lot of the time they ask for it and I’ll tell them to get off. I do wonder if they’d just stay on there all night.

‘It’s made us closer. It’s the fact they know they can come to me and be comforted any time.’

She continued: ‘We can do that without breastfeeding, a lot of people who aren’t breastfeeding will still respond to that but it’s part of my toolbox.

‘It’s formed part of our relationship and that’s my main drive for continuing breastfeeding.’

Despite negative comments from family and friends, Sheryl sees breastfeeding as a way to connect with her sons, even using it to comfort them in the school playground.

Sheryl said: ‘It’s about comfort. If they’re ill, that’s where they want to be to help them calm down but we don’t live in a society that’s supportive of that after infancy which is why we don’t see it.

‘They want to be with me and snuggle with me even when they aren’t breastfeeding.

‘I’ve been pretty lucky in that I haven’t had negative comments from strangers but family members and people I know have asked if I think I should stop.

‘They question whether the way my children behave is anything to do with them being breastfed. They’re hard work but that’s children.

‘People think they’re experts in other people’s children but I’m not doing it blind even though I am following my instincts in many ways’.

She added: ‘Riley and Mylo pick up on people’s opinions. My eldest wouldn’t ask for it when we’re out because he knows other people will see but he will behind closed doors but my youngest is confident.

‘Before Mylo went into preschool he was asking for mummy milk in the playground in the morning.

‘He took me to the bench and I had to dig deep into myself. I wanted to tell him we weren’t doing it there because people could see but I didn’t want to pass my anxieties onto him.’

Sheryl says was determined to breastfeed Mylo because she struggled to nurse Riley following a difficult birth.

She added that breastfeeding helped her to overcome the trauma of giving birth and strengthened her connection with her sons.

Sheryl tandem fed the pair until they were too big to be fed at the same time.

Sheryl said: ‘Breastfeeding helped me to keep that connection going and I had it in my head that I wanted to tandem breastfeed. It felt magical and empowering to be sustaining two babies at the same time.

‘I had a traumatic birth and because of that experience I felt like I a failure. I felt like I hadn’t done it right so I needed the breastfeeding relationship to succeed.

‘It wasn’t until I started breastfeeding Riley that I learned what it was about. It was a lot harder than I thought.

‘It wasn’t physically bad but emotionally it was hard. It might have been easier if I’d known more about it.

‘It’s hard to give all of yourself to this little person and not give yourself a break.

‘To get to where I am now couldn’t have happened if I hadn’t gone on to have my healing birth with Mylo. Everything changed after that.

‘When I was pregnant with Mylo I thought I didn’t have long left with Riley because the milk had reduced but when I had Mylo and the milk came Riley was like ‘oh wow’.

‘When I was feeling full of milk I would ask Riley to breastfeed and he would help with that.’

Sheryl hopes she can dispel some of the myths surrounding natural term breastfeeding, the practice of nursing until the child chooses to wean.

Sheryl said: ‘I don’t feel like I ever made the decision to breastfeed. It’s what I always imagined doing and it felt quite natural.

‘I remember playing with dolls while little and pretending to breastfeed them because I thought that’s what you do and that’s where milk comes from. That’s what I wanted to do.

‘It was a really nice experience for all three of us to do that together. Riley would reach out and stroke Mylo’s head or hold his hand and that’d how I felt it was supposed to be and I was a lot more confident with my own body.’

The spiritual director of the Adoration Ministries Enugu Nigeria (AMEN), Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has allegedly  been summoned to Abuja by the Department of State Services (DSS) after he called for the President's resignation or impeachment over insecurity challenges in the country, the Cable reports.

Addressing congregants on Sunday June 6, the Catholic Priest said DSS operatives were at his residence in Enugu state to drop a letter inviting him to Abuja.

He however said those at his house did not collect the letter from the DSS operatives. Mbaka said;

 “I celebrated mass with some of the leaders of the ministry. By Thursday morning, I got a call from where I was, that the DSS people from Abuja came to the gate, and they came with a letter of invitation to Abuja. Over what? What I cannot understand is that the mother church in Nigeria should be “cowed down” to lilliputians.

“All these are attempts to dumbfound the priests of God. All the priests could be dumbfounded but no prophet should be dumbfounded.  The Bible says if the foundation is destroyed, what can the righteous do.

“I heard the security people did not accept the letter. I said they could have received the letter. They told them Father is coming back to celebrate mass on Sunday, and they can come on Monday to give me the letter. If they know that the anointing flowing from this ground is too hot for them to handle, let them change.

“Look at the millions of youth moving about jobless, and you call us father. Should the father be comfortable when the children are suffering? What kind of father is that?”

The Coalition of Northern Groups in Nigeria has urged the Federal Government and demand that leaders in the region should allow for a peaceful breakup of the country by invoking the relevant statutes on self-determination to allow Igbo citizens of the southern region create the Biafra Republic.

In a letter to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the CNG said as a critical stakeholder in the affairs of the northern society, it sees the happenings in the South-East as a warning from history.

The CNG, representing the vast circle of rights and civil organisations in northern Nigeria also warned that the people in the region will no longer be expected to be restrained from paying back further acts of aggressive provocation on northerners living as minorities in any part of southern Nigeria.


The coalition stated this in a letter to the chairman of Northern Elders Forum with the title, ‘Alert on unfolding scenarios for destabilision of Nigeria.’


The letter also copied to traditional rulers in the north, politicians and opinion leaders.


In the letter, the coalition also called for the evacuation of Igbo people from the northern part of the country as well as the return of all northerners to the region.


The Northern group in the letter blamed the Igbos for the high level of drug and substance abuse in the North through the regular supply of the illicit products as well as smuggling of arms to terrorists ravaging the region.

“We address this letter to you with a deep sense of patriotism and concern for a strong and prosperous northern region in the context of the current Nigerian nation with respect to both historical and current trends and the underlying character of the Igbo people of the South East.


“We address you Sir, consciously believing that as critical stakeholder in the affairs of the northern society, you will accept and treat this as a warning from history which repeats itself, according to Karl Marx, once as a farce and twice as a tragedy.


” It is instructive to recount that the Igbo have benefited more than any other tribe in terms of economic monopoly and are the most accommodated and tolerated of all the ethnic groups in Nigeria, despite their notoriety for disregard to every rule of decency and etiquette globally.


“They have persisted in spiteful and vile threats on the whole nation as catalyst for the kind of violence that the country faced in 1966 following the first ever military insurrection by their kith.


” Setting the protocol for the unfolding agenda, the 1966 coupists decapitated the Prime Minister and the political leadership of the Northern and Western regions, leaving the zenith of Igbo leadership at the federal level and the Eastern region intact.


” Since that time, the Igbo have continued to intermittently taunt and rebel against the Nigerian State, demanding to secede and form an independent country called Biafra which was among the key elements that culminated in the Nigerian civil war of 1967-1970 that resulted in colossal death and destruction.


“2. RESURGENCE
” Decades after, Nigeria is again witnessing the resurgence of separatist agitations, especially by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its ilk, as strategies employed to achieve the results that the coupists of the First Republic failed to realize.


“The scene began with the regrouping of the Igbo to launch a brazen, though relatively decent campaign for Biafra under the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB).


” This was eventually hijacked by another rogue group called the IPOB, led by Nnamdi Kanu whose violent campaign went beyond public lectures to the spread of xenophobic, hateful war messages, targeting the Nigerian state and other non-Igbo ethnic groups.


” Kanu and IPOB’s activities grew exponentially, ranging from ordering people of other regions out of the South East – particularly northerners, to open declaration of amassing of arms to fight Nigeria.


” As these dangerous contours began to spiral with repeated calls to arms by the IPOB leader, the CNG in 2017, took the bold and necessary step to issue a “quit notice” in the famous Kaduna Declaration and followed up with series of communications to the then acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, the Secretary-General of the United Nations and all major foreign diplomatic missions represented in Nigeria, in which we drew attention to the emerging trends in the country that were pregnant with complications and unforeseen consequences.


“Those truly patriotic representations by the CNG aimed to anticipate and forestall the current drift toward anarchy and bloodshed in Nigeria, and also to alert the international community as to where responsibility would ultimately lie if such momentous and terrible events ever came to pass.

“Since 2017, on almost a daily basis, IPOB/ESN have coordinated violent attacks, indiscriminate killings and destruction of properties of northerners that continued unceasingly in almost all South Eastern states and some South South communities.


“The threat grew more existential with revelations of catches of arms meant for the Boko Haram insurgents routinely smuggled into the country and intercepted by the Nigerian authorities, traced to Igbo merchants.


” Evidence also abound of how IPOB’S incitement to mass atrocity and possible genocide against the North, and outright rebellion to the Nigerian state, manifested in the ugly incidents of the#EndSARS protests resulting in attacks and killings of security personnel, non-Igbo residents in the East and arson across Western States like Lagos.


“The attacks went on literally unchecked climaxing with the cold-blooded massacre of 19 innocent members of a pastoral family in Anambra and more recently, the gruesome assassination of Dr Ahmed Gulak in Imo.


“3. THE NORTH
” The typology of the current disturbances spreading across all northern states where the fissures between ethnic and religious groups are much more accentuated, suggests a wider plot to cause greater national instability by first diminishing the northern economic, political and educational viability.


“It began with an exponential increase in the level of drug addiction and substance abuse driven by outside forces and players particularly Southeastern traders and “pharmacists” who are the main sources of the substances and drugs that target the North.


“There is also an established correlation between the arms trade and drug trade in the North, both of which are intended to cause the disintegration of the region and bring about its weakening from within.


OUR CONVICTIONS
” The CNG is convinced that the bulk of the support for the violent Biafra agitation coming from the younger generation of the Igbo in the fifty-year bracket with pent up jealousies against the North and its people, are direct results of the dangerous indoctrination and radicalization by their forefathers, political, religious leaders over a long period.


“We are also convinced that the dimension of the current agitations and disturbances that have been ongoing ceaselessly since 2017, are aimed at rendering the country practically ungovernable, and ushering in of anarchy and instability thereby occasioning an inter-regional crisis possibly leading to civil war or general unrest that could portend towards the breakup of the country.


“Thus the targeting of the North and its people for attacks and irreverent treatment by IPOB and the Eastern Security Network, emboldened by the active support of all Igbo leaders, aim at sparking off retaliation in the North with subsequent attacks to be perpetrated against Northerners in the South-East, thus making it even more likely to insist on dividing the country.


“4. OUR STAND
” In the light of the observations and inferences drawn above, the CNG hereby arrives at the following inevitable positions:


a. That with the dimension taken by the Biafran agitation that involves attacks and destruction of public utilities, national security assets and personnel, and violence against fellow Nigerians from other parts of the country particularly the North, it has become no longer reasonable to expect us to continue having the Igbo as a federating partner.


“b. The fact that the strength of the Igbo agitation rests on youth who are mainly below the ages of 50, with diseased mindsets induced by their forefathers and encouraged by their political, cultural and religious leaders to take up arms against the Nigerian state and northerners, confirms that the nation’s unity is definitely negotiable.


“c. It is therefore unreasonable for those older Nigerians who are mostly above 70 to insist that the unity of Nigeria is sacrosanct whereas the people executing the dangerous Southeast secession agenda are almost entirely below 50.


“PRAYERS
” Committed to constitutionalism, peace, security, fair play, decent patriotism, love of our country and fellow citizens and respect for elders, CNG hereby urges you as respected leaders to:


“1. Act to get the Nigerian state and other critical stakeholders and international players to accept the reality that the only remaining option to avert a civil war and bloodshed is for the Igbo to be allowed to have the Biafra they have used intermittently for decades to destabilize the nation and deny peace to other components of the country.


“2. To take urgent steps to check the mass movement of people from the proposed Biafra land into the vast interior of the North as well as the permanent nature of that migration.


3. To set up a machinery for the final evacuation of all Biafra indegines from the North to their new country and for the safe relocation of all northerners from the South East.


“CONCLUSION
Finally Sir, we submit that the level of anger elicited by the activities of the IPOB and its sponsors at home and in the Diaspora has reached the inevitable point where the Igbo must be separated from us by invoking the relevant statutes on self-determination entrenched in various international conventions and treaties to which Nigeria is a signatory.


“And for the avoidance of doubt, the North should no longer be expected to be restrained from paying back any further act of aggressive provocation on northerners living as minorities in any part of southern Nigeria.


” No one needs to be reminded that a destabilized Nigeria also comes with negative consequences for peace and security in West Africa sub-region as well as Europe and the US and the rest of the global community.


“As such the North shall no longer be disposed to relating as Nigeria with the violent Igbo secessionists nor relate at any diplomatic level with a Biafran nation that may emerge now or in the future.”

The Nigeria Police Council on Friday, June 4, confirmed the appointment of Alkali Usman Baba as the substantive Inspector General of Police.

The Police Council meeting was presided by President Muhammadu Buhari at the First Lady’s Conference Room, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi, confirmed the development to State House correspondents at the end of the meeting. Dingyadi added that the appointment of Baba as IGP was unanimously confirmed.

According to him, the president has directed the new IG to ensure that the insecurity challenge facing the nation is fought with vigour and brought to the barest minimum under his watch as IG.

Recall that President Buhari had on April 6, appointed Alkali Usman Baba as the acting Inspector General of Police.

Baba was a Deputy Inspector General of Police before his promotion.

A bar worker in Spain has reportedly been arrested after she cut off her boss’s penis following an alleged rape attempt.

It was reported that the woman sliced off her boss’s genitals after he allegedly attempted to rape her on Monday night, June 2,  at Sant Andreu de la Barca outside Barcelona.

The woman in her 30s, whose identity was not revealed, then called the police and said she was trying to fight off the alleged rapist,  Daily Mail reports.

A Mossos d’Esquadra police force spokesperson confirmed the arrest saying that “a woman has been arrested for a crime of wounding following an incident around midnight at a bar in Sant Andreu de la Barca.”

'The arrest happened in the early hours of this morning.'

A source added: 'The woman was the one who contacted police to explain what had happened.

She said she had cut off her boss's penis as he tried to sexually assault her.

'Her claims are being investigated and the bar owner may be arrested once the hospital say he is well enough to be questioned.'

The man was also reportedly arrested for sexual assault following the woman’s allegations, with sources telling the Daily Mail that the boss had raped her multiple times over a span of months.

The outlet reports that it was not clear if doctors could reattach the man’s sliced penis following the incident when he was rushed to Bellvitge Hospital, a public hospital in l’Hospitalet de Llobregrat.

The woman is being held at a nearby police station while detectives have also opened an investigation into her claims of sexual assault.

There was a dramatic and shocking incident in the West African country of Sierra Leone where a dead person refused to be buried but rather led pallbearers to the house of the person who killed her.

In a viral video that has emerged to that effect, the pallbearers and undertakers could be seen being spiritually led to the house of the alleged murderer in Kent, Freetown, capital of Sierra Leone.

The corpse made several attempts to enter the said house of its murderer on the day of her funeral. In a video shared by Sierraloaded, a group of men was seen carrying a coffin and a strange force was taking them towards the entrance of a house.

According to the witnesses, the corpse is said to be a victim of ritual murder in Kent Village, and the house it was entering was alleged to be that of the ritualist that murdered her.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa has called for a unicameral legislature for the country, which will lead to scrapping of the senate in light of the ongoing process of amending the 1999 Constitution. 

The Governor who spoke at the Akure Centre of the South-West Zonal Public Hearing on constitution review on Tuesday June 1, said the upper chamber of the National Assembly should be scrapped while the Assembly should be on part-time basis to reduce the cost of governance.

Akeredolu stated that no lawmaker should earn allowances not known to the Revenue Mobilisation and Allocation Committee and, more importantly, people they claim to serve. He also called for creation of state police, devolution of powers, state control of resources, decentralization of supreme court among others

The Governor said; 

“The position of the Ondo State Government has been made public. We advocate for a Federal Government largely reduced in size and scope of engagement. We want to see a Constitution that will enhance the performance of public office holders at all levels.
