Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro is far better than the Infinix Note 5...

• 4GB RAM/ 64 inbuilt storage and 256GB expandable.
• 19:9 aspect ratio, bigger than that of Infinix Note 5
• A beautiful notch
• 12MP + 5MP back camera and 5MP frontal
• It promised a 79.5% screen to body ratio

You can see the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro full specs here or search Google and compare the two. You will see the beating it gave Note 5. Upon all the hype!

It cost N57,000 to N66,000 but the Infinix Note 5 costs N68,000 upward.

Phones / MTN Finally Allow Data Rollover As Instructed By NCC by Newsprex(m): 10:40am On Jun 29, 2018
Last week, Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) announced data rollover policy to be implemented by all telecommunications companies in Nigeria, including MTN, Glo, Airtel and 9mobile. However, MTN has become the first network provider to implement the feature.

Very soon, users will continue to see video advert that replays automatically on the Messenger chat app. Moreover, Facebook Messenger served just basic Ad for now but they have decided to up their game, even after the app has received backlash from users for bloat.

Who knows how users will feel when they start seeing video advert next to their private conversation. Of course, it might look intrusive and obnoxious.

Stefanos Loukakos, who runs Facebook Messenger Ad business, revealed that Facebook will monitor users behavior to decide if it turns people off and he added that "Top priority for us is user experience".

Phones / See The Difference Between The Android Go And Android One by Newsprex(m): 6:36pm On Jun 22, 2018
I saw some people asking this question in the forum that what's the difference between the Android One and Android Go?

Very short and brief...

Android One is an operating system or software owned by Google. It is always given to an OEM (phone manufacturer) by Google, especially those phone maker that cannot produce their own software by themselves. So, after the phone maker makes their phone hardware, they pay Google to get Android one software at an agreed time. Google will start to push updates and security patches directly to users.

While Android Go is the lighter version of Android One that comes with pre-installed apps like Gmail GO, YouTube Go e.t.c. The Android Go is mainly for entry-level or low-end phones, to optimize their data. Moreover, Google give the Android Go software to phone makers and whenever, Google send an update, the phone maker will push it to their users. Like for Nokia to push updates to their users instead of Google itself.

So the difference between Android Go and Android One is unlike Android One, Android GO doesn't come directly from Google.

Webmasters / Re: Wanna Move To Wordpress -- Pro Advice by Newsprex(m): 10:39pm On Jun 06, 2018
Blogger is better than WordPress for blogging only...

In Blogger, u just have to setup your blog and SEO and start blogging for free.

Hahaha...in WordPress,

You go pay for host, you go pay for premium plugins, you go pay for softaculous or Cpanel (VPS), .....

Any plugin u install will take your host memory and your posts and images...

U won't be able to enjoy all the services on WordPress for free....everything is about payment.

So, I will advice u to stick to blogger....

Content is the key...get a good niche, write on it, and drive traffics on social media, forums, websites, YouTube, Quora, reddit, and many more...

I have moved from blogger to WordPress and I didn't see any difference...

I don switch now to ghost.org

On prexblog.com

So, write good contents and drive traffics...no difference

Phones / Tecno Spark 2 Is Coming By June Next Month With Triple LED Flash by Newsprex(m): 8:52am On May 25, 2018
“The TECNO Spark was the best selling device in Kenya in 2017”, we should have led with this title as this is a big deal, especially to Transsion-owned TECNO, which has made a name for itself as Kenya’s leading mobile phone vendor.

The company says that the recently launched Spark series of smartphones that saw them take-to-market TECNO Spark (K7) and TECNO Spark Plus (K9), were the best selling device in Kenya by the end of 2017. Well, take this information with a pinch of salt since we don’t have an actual source with figures to quote. However, at price of Kes.12,000 and the specifications the Spark Plus offered, topped up by that lovely blue colour, I see why it is easier to believe the announcement rather than dismiss it.

The Spark series was brought in by TECNO as a measure to curb their sibling’s (Infinix) seemingly hostile takeover in the budget market. The Spark offered decent specifications at a friendlier price without compromising on design, that was the whole philosophy and it seems Kenyans bought into it.

The company is now gearing up to launch their next Spark, obviously named Spark 2. Little is known of the device, however, speculation points to two variants just like we saw with the predecessors. We also have reason to believe that the Spark 2 will feature face unlock and a 6-inch 18:9 aspect ratio display, which have become the latest features to take the mobile market by storm.

Android Oreo (Go Edition)?

The new Spark is also said to feature Android 8.1 Oreo and cocky Kaluka over at TechArena says that the smaller variant of the two will have 1GB RAM and run on the Android Oreo (Go Edition) platform while the Plus variant will boast of traditional HiOS UI and 2GB RAM. Apparently, both devices will have 16GB internal storage expandable via MicroSD.

Did we mention Face Unlock? So the feature will be made possible thanks to an 8MP selfie shooter on the front of the device that will feature a dual-flash setup and the inclusion of software-induced portrait mode. No worries, leaked images of the Spark 2 show that there is a fingerprint reader on the back, just in case you are not a fan of facial unlock.

Other specifications that you would care about include:

a MediaTek MT6580WP Quad-Core processor
13MP main camera
and a 3500 mAh battery

The Spark 2 is scheduled to launch next month and going by the pricing of the predecessors, we don’t expect to see a price tag of more than Kes.15,000 for the larger model.

Phones / No More Poor Network As Nigerians Introduces New "Super SIM Card" by Newsprex(m): 12:59pm On May 24, 2018
The issue of poor quality service, use of multiple phones and porting from one network to another may soon be history in Nigeria’s technology space, if the Super Sim Card Innovation to be introduced by a team of researchers from University of Technology, Minna, becomes a reality.

The research work which started three years ago was commissioned and sponsored by the NCC to pave way for indigenous and novel technologies that could disrupt the existing technologies and also address problems in the industry.

The Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, FUT Minna, Prof. Abdullahi Bala on Monday led a team of researchers comprising students and scientists from the university to present two technology innovation projects funded by the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC.

The NCC coughed out about N4.7 million for the two projects, Seamless Multiple Operator enabled SIM cards and mobile communication enabled walking stick.

They are designed to address the issue of subscribers using multiple phones and SIM cards due to poor quality of service. The project is particularly in keeping with the consideration for national roaming that is being promoted by the commission.

Presenting the novel devices, the Lead Researcher and Head, Department of Mechatronics Engineering , FUT Minna, Prof. Abiodun Aibinu explained that the first project, the Seamless Data and Voice Connection Over Multiple Operator enabled SIM Card allows a subscriber the opportunity of having one SIM card for all networks or one mobile phone with one SIM card for all networks.

Aibinu said that the innovation is a major disruption in the status quo ante of the Nigerian telecom landscape because the device with the SIM gets the signal of all available networks in a particular location.

He said: “We are talking about disrupting the ecosystem in the telecommunication industry in the sense that with just one SIM card, you can access the available networks without porting or buying multiple SIMS.

“People carry a lot of phones or SIMs these days as a result of poor quality service and the uncertainty of network strength of an area; so using basic engineering and the technology behind Mobile phone, we applied Artificial Intelligence, AI system to enable the device take intelligent decision on behalf of the user in switching from the network with poor quality service to another with better quality service.

“What this means is that immediately the product hits the market, subscribers would truly become kings as they can enjoy quality service even without having more than one phone.”

On the second innovation, development of Mobile Communication enabled walking stick, he also explained that the innovation is a mobile phone embedded walking stick designed to aid the user, especially the aged and the blind navigate through dangerous spots, and at the same time make calls when necessary.

Explaining why NCC threw money at the innovations, Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Prof Umar Danbatta said it was in keeping with the consideration for National Roaming Plan that the commission felt it would be worthy to give such innovations a trialDanabba, who was represented by one of the commission’s Executive Commissioners, Engr. Ubale Maska, commended the team for living up to its tasks of utilizing the N4.7million grant to innovate a disruptive technology that could enhance the existing quality of service in the country.

He contended that since the innovation is looking into the future it would be of immense benefit to the telecom industry because the industry is very dynamic.
