UMUAHIA (FIC’s Report) – Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari and her Foundation donated 1000 bags of rice, 1000 cans of cooking oil, tomatoes and other food supplements to 1000 indigent Abians, under her “Future Assured” programme. https://i0.wp.com/www.barbaric.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Mrs-Buhari-Foundation-Donates-Food-in-Abia-state.jpg Speaking at the event, which took place at Michael Okpara auditorium in Umuahia, Mrs. Buhari said she chose Abia State to carry out the programme, not because there are more indigent persons in Abia than other States, rather for the special love she has for the people of Abia State, and expressed the desire to bring more goodies to Abia through her office, the Aisha Buhari Foundation and Future Assured Programme. Mrs. Aisha Buhari, who was represented by wife of Abia State Governor, Nkechi Ikpeazu, also used the opportunity to call on people to get involved, and seek ways to help members of their communities. The Vice Chancellor of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Prof. Adeniyi Gbadegesin, and Secretary to Oyo State Government, Mr. Olaleka Alli, are to head the education reform initiative and unpaid salaries committees respectively. https://i0.wp.com/www.barbaric.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/image-2.jpeg The inauguration of the 31-member education reform committee and government/labour committee on unpaid salaries, wages and pensions took place at the Executive Council Chamber of the Governor’s Office, in Ibadan, on Tuesday. Also on the reform committee were Prof. Tajudeen Akanji of the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Ibadan; representatives of Olubadan, labour, market, religious and private sectors, among others. The wages committee also has as members the Deputy National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Mr. Peters Adeyemi; State Vice Chairman of the Union, Mr. Bayo Titilola-Sodo; State Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Pensions, Mr. Segun Abatan, among others. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Governor of the State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who was represented by his deputy, Chief Moses Adeyemo, said that the ceremony was a good omen for amicable resolution of the impasse between the government and labour. He charged members of the committees to work round the clock to ensure that the wheel of progress of the state was further propelled. The education reform committee was given one month within which to carry out its assignment, while the salaries and wages committee was mandated to turn in its report within ten days. The governor said that the event had further availed the government and members of the committees the opportunity to collectively reinvent the pacesetting status of the state. He said that the committees should tackle the factors inhibiting the sustenance of the enviable educational and intellectual status of the state, a legacy which he said was bequeathed by past leaders of the state. Ajimobi said, “I boldly and proudly refer to the dignifying educational attainment of the former Western Region/State, the chore of which is the present Oyo State. ‘Part of this is our endowment with the premier university in the country; seven international research institutes; the first architectural masterpiece in Africa, South of Sahara, built from our industry in agriculture; as well as other numerous firsts and outstanding status.’ Ajimobi recalled the 2012 Education Summit organized by the state government which, he said, was aimed at finding solutions to the `unacceptable performance of students’ in public examinations, especially the West African School Certificate Examinations (WASCE). He said that the outcome of the summit informed the step by his administration to call for a stakeholders’ forum to address the management of public secondary schools in the state. The governor, however, expressed regret over what he called the unpleasant response from a section of the public to the proposal, insisting that the administration would not be deterred by the falsehood being peddled around on the initiative. He said that the inauguration of the joint labour/government committee on wages was necessitated by the disagreement between government and labour on the outstanding salaries and pensions. Ajimobi stressed that the government was open to dialogue to resolve the matter in spite of the decision of labour to call workers out on strike without declaring a trade dispute as required by labour law. According to the governor, the decision of labour was more painful taking into cognizance a subsisting agreement between governments and labour upon which the government had not reneged. Ajimobi appealed for greater understanding of the poor financial status of the state which, he said, was not peculiar to Oyo. The SSG, who headed the salaries/pensions resolution committee, pledged members’ determination to finding an amicable resolution to the ongoing industrial disharmony. On his part, Gbadegesin noted that public education had always been participatory and solicited the extension of the gesture to primary and tertiary education as well. He used the opportunity to announce the extension of the submission of memoranda by interested parties to Friday, July 15, 2016, saying this was to further widen the scope of public inputs to the issue at stake. The terms of reference of the education reform initiative committee included a review of the educational status of the state; review of the standard of education in public secondary schools. It was also mandated to generate, collate and analyse the memoranda so far submitted on the participatory management of public schools. The committee is also to ensure intensive consultations with relevant and interested stakeholders on the subject matter and to do a comparative analysis of the existing model and other result-oriented models on participatory school management. Other terms of reference include examination of other issues relevant to the subject matter, recommendation of plausible participatory management options and to proffer effective means of enhancing the overall standard of education in the state. Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed has again reaffirmed his call for a restructured, self-accounting and viable local government system as the most enduring panacea for the challenges in the payment of salaries of local government workers, primary and junior secondary teachers. https://i0.wp.com/www.barbaric.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Kwara-state-governor-Abdulfatah-Ahmed.jpg According to the governor, “the present third tier of government is created and structured along political exigencies rather than being self-sustaining”. The Governor said this when the leadership of Church Leaders and Minister Fellowship of Nigeria in the state paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Government House, Ilorin. Governor Ahmed who attributed the lapses in the payment of local government workers to the shortfall in revenue earnings from the Federation Account and lack of preparation for the rainy day, noted that what was needed to overcome the unexpected challenges at the local government level was a collective responsibility of proffering solutions, rather than blaming federal and state governments. “We cannot hold the federal government responsible because the federal government has its own responsibility. We cannot hold the state government responsible because the state government has its own problems. But let us recognize the problems of the local governments collectively. There is nothing the state government alone can do about it. The problem is that they do not have the capacity to generate revenue. What do with do to help them generate revenue? That is where the solutions are going to come from”, he said. He suggested that Nigerians should ask critical questions about the staff strengths of the local governments against the backdrop of inflated wage bills as well as the inability of the local councils to boost their Internally Generated Revenues. On the suspension of the Kwara State Bridge Employment Scheme, which served as a social safety net between permanent employment and unemployment, Governor Ahmed explained that the scheme could no longer be sustained due to the prevailing financial difficulties in the State. He said that the state government had enhanced the Small Scale Enterprises (SSME) financing scheme which the KWABES interns can benefit from once they form themselves into cooperative groups. According to the governor, “over N1bn would be earmarked for the SSME Scheme to promote agriculture, stressing that focus would be on crop farming with emphasis on cassava, rice, and maize; poultry and fishing”. Speaking earlier, the Chairman, Church Leaders and Ministers Fellowship of Nigeria, Revd, Emmanuel Adeosun, in his speech called on the state government to assist local governments in the payment of council workers and SUBEB teachers’ salaries. Revd. Adeosun also appealed to the state government to create alternative measures that would help in preventing negative consequences of the suspension of the KWABES initiative. Some Israelis are suing Facebook Inc. for one billion dollars, alleging that the company supported Palestinian movement Hamas between 2014 and 2016. https://i1.wp.com/www.barbaric.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/de69c672-3b90-4646-b1dd-425dac48cf3c.jpg The plaintiffs are supposedly relatives of one American and four with dual nationality, who were killed in attacks in Tel Aviv or the occupied West Bank between 2014 and 2016, blamed on Palestinians. In its latest onslaught and that on a Palestinian region, the Israeli regime left nearly 2,300 Gazans, including 577 children, dead. In a lawsuit filed in US District Court for the Southern District of New York, the group argued that Facebook helped Hamas to “carry out attacks.” Facebook “knowingly provided material support and resources to Hamas … facilitat(ing) this terrorist group’s ability to communicate, recruit members, plan and carry out attacks, and strike fear in its enemies,” it read, according to Reuters. A representative of the social media giant in Israel responded to the private lawsuit, saying, “There is no place for content encouraging violence, direct threats, terrorism or hate speech on Facebook. We have a set of Community Standards … and we urge people to use our reporting tools if they find content that they believe violates our standards so we can investigate and take swift action.” The Israeli regime has already blamed Facebook for refusal to help track Palestinians. According to Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri, the move is meant to blackmail Facebook so the Israelis can finally turn it into their spy tool. Furthermore, Zuhri argued, Israeli politicians and soldiers use the social media website to express “pride at the killing of Palestinians.” “The real test for the owners of Facebook is to reject this pressure,” Abu Zuhri said. The BringBackOurGirls group claims in a recent statement that President Muhammadu Buhari has “broken all promises” made to the group about rescuing the missing Chibok girls and that the government had been “lackadaisical” in the rescue mission. https://i1.wp.com/www.barbaric.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/ChibokGirl.jpg The Presidency stated this in a statement released to the press from the office of SSA to the President on Media and Publicity, that it will like to appeal to the officials and members of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) campaign group, not to waver in their support for the government in the war against terrorism and in the ongoing effort to free all Nigerian citizens taken captive by the Boko Haram terrorist group. The past year of this administration has seen the Nigerian military step up bombardment of the Sambisa Forest, a stronghold of the Boko Haram terrorist group, leading to the capture of hundreds of insurgents. Also, records from the Army show the rescue of no fewer than 15,000 captives, mostly women and children from the terrorists from February to date. In addition, dozens of communities that were previously under the control of the terrorists have been liberated, allowing thousands of previously displaced citizens to return home and resume their normal lives. Thousands of these women and children freed from captivity have also been reunited with their families. This huge number of rescued women and children may not be prominent names, and their disappearance may not have generated any massive media attention and campaign. However, their liberation is just as important as that of every other missing woman and child, and a testament to the devotion of our military personnel who daily risk life and limb in the effort to bring back every Nigerian citizen kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists. Along with these ongoing efforts to rid our country of terrorists and terrorism, the Nigerian government is focused on the welfare and rehabilitation of rescued Nigerians, many of whom were found in a state of severe malnutrition and illness. While their intentions are honourable, perhaps the BBOG leadership have not considered the collateral damage which must inevitably follow its riveting and disputing claim that the President has “broken all promises” allegedly made to the group on this issue. Or that he has been “lackadaisical” in rescuing the Chibok girls. The Federal Government’s focus has always been to free the Chibok girls alive and unharmed. The President is conscious always about the fact that terrorism in Nigeria is part of a global phenomenon. Since coming to office, his response to it has been firm and well considered. President Buhari will never make bogus promises or play to the gallery. It is misleading of anyone to preach that the Chibok girls are within an easy grasp. If the military under the President knew where they are held, they will bring the Chibok girls home today. The Presidency is open to renew cooperation with the BBOG group, international bodies, religious groups, social workers, and all others who are assisting in the field to ensure that those who have so far been rescued from Boko Haram captivity are given the support they need to make a full recovery and be reintegrated fully into society. Groups such as the BBOG can also lend a helping hand to military families whose losses need to be appreciated and focused upon. The life of every single Nigerian matter to this government and the security agencies, under the command of President Buhari, will continue to exert all its powers to ensure that every Nigerian is safe from the brutality of terrorists and terrorism. Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Saturday, expressed sadness over the death of one of the last set of the nation’s founding fathers, elder statesman, Alhaji Shettima Ali Monguno, who he described as a detribalized Nigerian and worthy ambassador. https://i0.wp.com/www.barbaric.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Ali.jpg Saraki in a statement signed and issued by his Special Adviser (Media and Publicity), Yusuph Olaniyonu, in Abuja noted that the former Minister of Mines and Petroleum in the First Republic would be sorely missed considering his giant political strides and contributions to the building of the Nigerian nation, starting from his birth place, Monguno, in Borno State to all the nooks and crannies of the country. He described Monguno’s death as painful especially coming at a time when the Federal Government has successfully turned the tide against insurgents in the North East. The late politician was a victim of the insurgency when he was abducted by gunmen at a mosque before he was later rescued. He commiserated with the Ali Monguno family, Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State, the entire people of Borno State as well as all associates of the late statesman across the country over the unfortunate incident. The Senate President stated: “Elder Monguno was a special breed who contributed immensely to the attainment of the nation’s Independence in 1960, became a parliamentarian in the First Republic and thereafter a Federal Minister. His disposition towards effective nation building remains unparalleled. He lived for the welfare and security of the common man. His passion about a better and safer society was exceptional. His steadfastness, commitment to the cause of one Nigeria and optimistic spirit towards national development will continue to inspire us both now and in the future. “In his quest to mould the country in line with his lofty vision, late Monguno aspired to be President of Nigeria. Not minding that he did not realize his dream to become President, he continued to play exemplary leadership role as a philanthropist with special bias and support for the education of underprivileged children, especially the girl-child. “No doubt, late Monguno’s versatility and experience would have been of immense value to the present resettlement and rehabilitation efforts in his home state of Borno, the entire North East, as well as tackling the socio-economic challenges confronting the country at this time,” he said. He urged the family of the deceased, the government and people of Borno State, to be comforted by the fact that Monguno served Allah and mankind diligently and worked hard to make his country great. He said the deceased left a worthy legacy of selfless service and a good name. The Management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC on Friday cautioned members of the public from embarking on any form of panic purchase of petroleum products in anticipation of product scarcity due to the ongoing strike action by members of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN. https://i1.wp.com/www.barbaric.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/nnpc.png The national oil corporation made this known in a press release issued by the Group General Manager (GGM), Group Public Affairs Division of the Corporation, Garba Deen Muhammad on Friday in Abuja. The NNPC stated that while the Corporation has commenced talks with the leadership of the industry Unions to address their grievances, the Corporation has in stock enough products to satisfy local consumption requirements for the next 45 days noting that there is no need for motorists and other users of petroleum products to embark on frenzied wholesale purchase of fuel in anticipation of scarcity. Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State continued the battle to retain his seat on Friday before Justice Okon Abang of Federal Court High Court, Abuja. https://i1.wp.com/www.barbaric.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/ikpeazu.jpg Justice Okon Abang of a Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday refused to hear Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu’s application for stay of execution of the June 27 judgment of the court removing him (Ikpeazu) as Governor. Abang said that Ikpeazu filed to the appeal court for “stay of execution” of an order removing him as Governor. He directed that Ikpeazu and Ogah, who was ordered to be issued fresh Certificate of Return in the June 27 judgment , should go to the Court of Appeal to argue the motion for stay of execution. He said all these in response to the argument of counsel to both parties, challenging his jurisdiction to hear any application on the matter. It would be recalled that the Abia State High Court had issued an injunction restraining INEC from issuing a certificate of return to Ogah. The Court also restrained the Chief Judge of Abia State from swearing Ogah in while ordering status quo to be maintained until pending the determination of motion on notice. The arrest and seizure is a product on intense undercover operation by the NDLEA. The estimated street value of the drugs is 1.4 billion Naira. Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Col. Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah (rtd.) Said that the seizure has significant influence on the campaign against narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. In his words, “this is a product of careful planning and meticulous tracking of narcotic drugs movement. The consignments were closely monitored by our undercover agents and intercepted at Apapa Seaport, Lagos following the detection of narcotics by NDLEA sniffer dogs during screening operation. This will definitely have a positive influence on Nigeria’s drug control efforts”. The NDLEA boss added that the Agency will remain meticulous in detecting drugs and prosecuting offenders. “I am very happy with the success recorded in this operation. The Agency will remain painstaking and professional in the fight against illicit drug production, trafficking and abuse. We hope to unmask the drug syndicate behind this shipment and make more arrests soon” Abdallah promised. The drugs were hidden inside packs of melon concealed in foodstuff and cosmetics such as Garri (cassava flakes), noodles, Knorr and Maggi food seasoning, yam powder, Malt drinks, pepper, Milk, Herbal Hair Cream and Golden Morn cereals. Other items in the container are Damatol Hair Cream, bags of Melon, Kegs of palm oil, Beans, Biscuits, Sardine and Cartons of Orijin bitters. Officers successfully traced the illicit consignment to a fifty-two year old man who claimed to be an evangelist by name John Vincent Arinze who was arrested in his hotel room in Lagos. A Mercedes Benz Jeep belonging to him was also impounded at the time of arrest. The suspect hails from Ara village, Nise in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State. John who had lived in South Africa for over a decade accepted ownership of the illicit shipment. I have financial problem and was introduced into drug trafficking by a friend. They told me that somebody will give me the drug while on transit in Dubai. While at the airport, a man approached me and said that you are Rita. He introduced himself that he is from my friend and gave me the drug in a duty-free bag. I was surprised when the drug was discovered here because it was not hidden at all. I never checked it. I just kept it in my bag the way it was given to me. I was so disappointed in myself” Rita stated. She hails from Benin City, Edo State. Seriki Muktar who hails from Osun State said that he left Nigeria as a footballer in search of a good club. “After a fruitless search for a football club in Tanzania for some months, I moved to Mozambique. The Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed has described the decision by SERAP, a rights advocacy group, to include him in a petition to the International Criminal Court (ICC) for alleged non payment of salaries to workers as ill-informed and misdirected as well as an attempt to whip up sentiments on an issue of national concern. https://i1.wp.com/www.barbaric.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/kwara-state.png Reacting to the group’s petition, Governor Ahmed described it as baseless and lacking a foundation in fact as Kwara State is up to date in the payment of salaries to state civil servants and pensioners. Alhaji Ahmed stressed that SERAP may have been referring to the local government councils in the state, which receive separate allocations from the federal government and have varying degrees of staff and pension arrears. Furthermore, the Kwara State Governor said despite experiencing a drop in monthly allocation from N3.2b to N800m, the state government has sustained payment of its civil servants and pensioners through prudent management of resources and revenue reforms which have increased Internally Generated Revenue by more than 100 per cent in less than a year, according to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Dr. Muyideen Akorede. Continuing, Dr. Ahmed said he is currently working with local government chairmen in the state to redress salary arrears at that tier of government through measures such as the proposed takeover of Junior Secondary School funding by the state to reduce the financial pressure on local governments. https://i0.wp.com/www.barbaric.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/kwara-state2.png He therefore, wondered why SERAP will refer an issue involving contractual obligation between a government and its workers to the ICC which deals with criminal matters and settles legal disputes submitted to it by sovereign states. The state governor pointed out that while the said LG pension and salary delays are unfortunate and painful, the issue is reflective of the financial gridlock currently confronting the country and is neither intentional nor criminal in nature. The Governor further dismissed the petition as selective for failing to reflect the federal government position that 27 states are currently unable to pay workers. Additionally, Alhaji Ahmed also questioned the source of SERAP’s data, and emphasised that recent surveys by the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC), respected national media organisations as well as reputable financial watchdogs in the country had given Kwara State a clean bill of health with regards to payment of state workers and pensioners. Parks and some recreational centres in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Thursday recorded large turnout of fun seekers in spite of the economic hardship in the country. https://i1.wp.com/www.barbaric.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Park-in-Abuja.jpg Reports say that the Millennium Park and other recreational centres recorded a large turnout of fun seekers, while Magic Land (formerly Wonder Land), and some others witnessed low turnout. Some of the respondents attributed the low turnout in some of the parks to the poor economic situation in the country. However, Mr Godwin Amodu, the Head of Accounts and Administration, Magic Land told NAN that the turnout was relatively high due to improved security situation in the country. “We have so far had a very good turnout, people came out very well to enjoy sallah and it’s really not bad this year. “The slight difference is that last year, we had this tension of insecurity but this year, security has been beefed up. “The militants have really reduced their attacks which have encouraged people to come out compared to last year.” Amodu appealed to Nigerians to support the present government to enable it deliver the dividends of democracy. “We should pray for the progress of the economy so that things will improve and the change they have promised us will become a reality,” Amodu said. Mr Halilu Jega, a fun seeker who visited Magic Land with his family was grateful to Almighty Allah for the grace to complete the fast in the month of Ramadan. Jega said he needed to bring his family to celebrate in spite the hard economic situation. “I don’t have a choice but to bring my family to come and celebrate the sallah outside the home because that is what we owe our families. “Although, there is no much funds in circulation in the country, but sallah must be celebrated,” he said. Jega added that the celebration should be a time to pray for national peace and unity. Also, the Millenium Park, Maitama was filled with fun seekers who gathered in clusters with family and friends. Mrs Ifeoma Anika-Okoronkwo, a snacks vendor at the park recounted her loss, adding that what she made in the last Sallah was better. “Sales and patronage of last year was far better than this year, I am counting losses instead of gains. “I am still hoping that before the end of the day, things may get better because I have been here since 9 a.m,” she said. She, however, prayed that the economic situation of the country would improve. Rukaiya Abbas, a 15 years old girl, who visited Magic Land with her mother was happy she was part of this year’s celebration. Abbas said, “seriously, I am very happy for this year’s sallah because this is the first year I am having five different clothes to celebrate with. “I have the one I wore starting from Tuesday till the celebration ends and I really thank my parents for that.” She urged the government to ensure effective security to lives and properties in the country. An Italian football hooligan has been arrested and charged with murder after beating to death a Nigerian asylum seeker who reacted to racial insults against his partner, ANSA news agency reported Thursday. https://i1.wp.com/www.barbaric.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Nigerian-Killed-in-Italy.gif According to the La Repubblica newspaper, Emmanuel Chidi Nnamdi, 36, got into a fight on Tuesday after the man called his 24-year-old girlfriend Chinyere a “monkey.” He was taken to hospital in a comatose state and declared dead on Wednesday in the central Italian town of Fermo, some 170 kilometres north-east of Rome, near the Adriatic coast. The accused, Amedeo Mancini, is a supporter of 4th league team Fermana and had been banned from the local stadium because of his violent behaviour, ANSA said. The incident led Interior Minister Angelino Alfano to travel to Fermo to chair a meeting with local police. Alfano said it was a “day of infinite sadness,” while Prime Minister Matteo Renzi wrote on Twitter: “Against hatred, racism and violence.” Comunita di Capodarco, the Catholic charity that was giving shelter to the couple, issued a statement giving a version provided by Chinyere. She said the man put his hands on her, triggering Nnamdi’s reaction. “A fight broke out, a street sign was pulled from the pavement, there were heavy blows and one, probably fatal, hit the young Nigerian on the back of the neck. Once on the floor … the young man was hit repeatedly,” the Comunita said. The couple left Nigeria to flee from the Islamist terrorist group Boko Haram, their hosts said. Chinyere travelled while pregnant, but fell ill during the sea crossing to Sicily and lost her baby, probably as a result of beatings suffered in Libya, they added. Father Vinicio Albanesi, who leads the community that sheltered the couple, said the people who attacked the asylum seekers were the same who earlier this year planted bombs in front of four Catholic churches in Fermo. The explosives did not go off. “There are small group of people who clearly think they belong to the Aryan race,” Albanesi said, as quoted by Comunita di Capodarco. “They belong to local football fan groups and I think it is the same clique who has put bombs in front of our churches.” Source>>http://www.barbaric.com.ng/killer-nigerian-asylum-seeker-arrested-itay/ |

Iraq’s Health Ministry says the death toll from a recent deadly bombing attack in the capital, Baghdad, has risen to 292. Iraqi Health Minister Adeela Hammoud told al-Iraqiya TV network on Thursday that DNA samples were collected from 150 families to identify bodies charred beyond recognition. https://i1.wp.com/www.barbaric.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Iraq.jpg Mourners carry the coffin of an Iraqi man, who was killed in a bombing that ripped through Baghdad’s busy shopping district of Karradah on July 3, during a funeral procession at the site of the attack on July 6, 2016. (AFP photo) The ministry’s Thursday toll makes the Baghdad attack the deadliest since the US invasion of Iraq in 2003. The death toll rose as some critically injured people died and more bodies were recovered from the rubble in Baghdad’s Shia neighborhood of Karradah, where a truck packed with explosives blew up on Sunday. The deadly blast took place when a vehicle packed with explosives was detonated in Karradah area while families were shopping for Eid al-Fitr which marks the end of the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. Security and medical officials said the attack left at least 213 people dead and more than 200 others wounded. In a twitter post, the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group claimed responsibility for the assault. The speaker was invited to the NSE in recognition of his contribution and that of the House of Representatives in deepening the market through legislation. Dogara has been championing calls for the deepening of the exchange and recently, while declaring open a conference organised by the House Committee on capital market, said the House may pass laws that will compel multinational oil, gas and telecommunucations companies doing business in the country to list a certain percentage of their value on the NSE. A group of Kogi State Civill servants have accused the leadership of the organized Labour in the state of needlessly extending the industrial strike action embarked upon almost two weeks ago, in spite government meeting the terms of the agreement it had with them. https://i0.wp.com/www.barbaric.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Kogi-Map.png The group said this while addressing a media parley at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Press Centre, on Thursday, July 7th, 2016. The leader of the group, Comrade Cyril Ukwenya, said government has agreed that all workers on compulsory leave will be called back. According to Cyril, dates and schedules of payments for all outstanding salaries and leave bonuses will be published. He also made known that government has resolved that no genuine worker will be played off as workers with complains about omissions will be attended to directly by the Office of the Governor. “Salaries of LGA teachers and pensioners will be returned to SUBEB and the Bureau of Local government pensions,” he said. https://i2.wp.com/www.barbaric.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/FB_IMG_1462903388880.jpg He urge civil servants in the state to disregard labour leaders. “During the last adminarration of Captain Wada, the Ministry of Science and Technology proposed to supply laptops to all the teachers in the State, so as to boost their teaching skills but the labour leaders getting to know about this, saw it as an opportunity to make money on all workers and eventually hijacked the idea by convincing governor who gave them approval to go ahead. These said laptops were given to workers at the rate more than 300% of the market price,” he disclosed. He also disclosed that the union dues deducted from workers salaries to labour’s account every month is almost 50 million naira. “The present labour leaders have been in office for about seven to eight years now. If we go by the above exposition, this means the union dues of workers deducted to labour is approximately 4.6 billion naira. “Is there anything on ground to show for this 4.6 billion naira they have collected from the hungry and heavily indebted workers of Kogi State? “It is an open secret that, every labour leader is richer than a serving commissioner.” Speaking further, Ukwenya stated that the bailout fund is a loan facility sourced from Zenith Bank and Access bank, using the Central Bank of Nigeria as a guarantor of facility. “Bailout fund is a loan facility sourced by Zenith and Access banks. It is not transferable and cannot yield interest as maliciously purported by the labour leaders. Money cannot be withdrawn from the holding banks for any other purpose other than crediting the salary accounts of workers,” he said.
