I have always wondered on the issue of odometer reading vis-a-vis the performance of motor engines. A friend bought a car with a low odometer reading (70,000miles, tokumbo) but the engine failed after just 3 months of usage. Another bought a vehicle that did about 190,000+ but after 6 months, the vehicle engine is still performing wonderfully. Can any one educate me on this please, Nairalanders? |
In as much as I will agree with the earlier posts, I do believe that most people don't even check their transmission fluid talkless of changing it. I do believe that regular checking/changing of the transmission fluid will give you a better deal. |
I just did this for my BabyBoy yesterday. The process is easy: 1. Switch off your ignition completely. 2. With your left hand, depress the reset maintenance (or odometer) button and hold down while you turn the ignition switch on with your right hand (without starting the vehicle). 3. Hold down for 10-15 mins until the light blinks then goes off. GOOD LUCK. |
@ sultaan: Thanks so much, bro. De car has done about 198+K on de mileage. Hope it can give me additional 100K? @ ajileko: My regards, bro. |
It is difficult to tell. Average Nigerians go for cars that come cheap. It is only the FEW rich that are car crazy. |
I was wondering how long I will use my toks car before I will begin taking it for complete engine servicing (e.g. changing of rings, e.t.c.)? If u have any useful advice, please help. |

V6 engine? Would have preferred the regular 4-plug engine. |
