The Nigerian Police has reiterated that the helicopter in the air wing of the Nigerian police doesn’t run commercial services neither it is for charter. According to a statement by DSP Jimoh Moshood, the Nigerian Police Public Relations Officer and made available to NGHUBS, the Police Air-wing did not carry out any chartered shuttle for a paltry $30,000.00 and is not aware of the cost of charter for which commercial operators charge $105,000.00. Read full statement below The helicopters on the fleet of the Nigeria Police Force’s Air-wing don’t run commercial or chartered shuttle services as claimed by the writer of the story · The Force’s Police Air-wing did not carry out any chartered shuttle for a paltry $30,000.00 and is not aware of the cost of charter for which commercial operators charge $105,000.00 The attention of the Nigeria Police has been drawn to a story in The Nation Newspaper of today, Sunday, 4th November, 2018 captioned “Illegal Helicopter Charter Flights Spark Row in Aviation Sector” credited to one Kelvin Osa Okunbor. 2. The Force wishes to categorically state that the helicopters on the fleet of the Nigeria Police Force Air-wing don’t run commercial or chartered shuttle services as claimed by the writer of the story. Police helicopters are deployed on regular basis for operational purposes and to aid other security and safety agencies in their operations and other activities in line with inter-agency cooperation and collaboration. There was no time the Police helicopters were deployed for hire and reward or for charter. 3. To educate the writer and set the record straight, only one (1) Police Bell helicopter 412 was deployed to Gombe, Gombe State on the 29th October, 2018 to fly the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Department of Training and Development representing the Inspector General of Police at the ground breaking and foundation laying ceremony of Nigeria Army University at Biu, Borno State. The Police Bell helicopter 412 flew the DIG, Department of Training and Development and some Senior Military Officers from Gombe, Gombe State to Biu, Borno State and back on 30th October, 2018 without any payment from the Military or any other party. 4. The Police Bell 412 helicopter flights on the date of the occasion was purely for the Inspector General of Police to be represented at the event while the IGP was attending a State function in Kaduna, Kaduna State. Other Military Officers flown to and back from the event was purely on inter-agency collaboration and cooperation. 5. It is imperative to correct the wrong impression that must have been created by the misleading report and the misinformation in the minds of the public most especially those who must have read the story, that the Force’s Police Air-wing did not carry out any chartered shuttle for a paltry $30,000.00 and is not aware of the cost of charter for which commercial operators charge $105,000.00. This is mischievous and a figment of the imagination of the writer. The writer should be bold to tell the public whose account the alleged paltry $30,000.00 was paid into or who receives the money and on whose behalf. 6. It is equally on record that so many joint operations between the Police, the Military and other security and safety agencies involving the Police Air-wing have been ongoing in the interest of National Security. 7. Consequently, the Force sees the report as a deliberate and desperate act to cause misunderstanding and distortion of the intention of the Force to continue to assist other security and safety agencies in carrying out statutory duties and other National assignments. The Force also did not deploy the Police Air-wing helicopters for illegal charters between Kaduna to Abuja last year during the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport renovation as claimed by the writer in the report, this is not correct, it is mischievous and condemnable. 8. The Force is not under any investigation by the NCAA and the Police Air-wing will continue to abide by all regulations under the purview of the regulatory body. 9. Members of the Public are hereby implored to disregard and discountenance the report in its entirety as incorrect, mischievous and misinformation. 10. The Police and the media will continue to be veritable partners in ensuring aviation safety and security, however, the media are implored not to allow the pages of their very esteemed newspapers to be used to publish or sponsor falsehood by mischievous individual(s). Former governor of Ekiti state Ayodele Peter Fayose has reacted to the Attestation of result presented to President Buhari yesterday by the West African Examination Council. According to a tweet by Fayose on Saturday, he said if it was this easy to get Attestation of result, why did Buhari wait this long to get his. He also asked when the Nigerian Military will provide the certificate which Buhari claims is with them. Fayose tweeted “If it was this easy to get WAEC to issue the “Attestation/Confirmation Certificate, why waiting this long? Why contesting four times without a single certificate? So when will the military produce the credentials that he claimed are with them? Many questions begging for answers. “My consolation is that (provided they will allow votes to count) Nigerians will have the opportunity of ending this national embarrassment in 4 months time. I have never seen a nation that has been so embarrassed by a mere question of; “Mr President, where are your credentials?” http://nghubs.com.ng/2018/11/03/fayose-reacts-to-buharis-waec-attestation/

President Muhammadu Buhari Friday in Abuja said his administration has ensured even distribution of political appointments to reflect diverse interests across the country, regardless of the voting patterns of the 2015 presidential elections. Receiving a delegation of Bassa Traditional Rulers and Elites led by His Royal Highness, Alhaji Bako Ebiredelu Dogwo at the Presidential Villa, the President said the Nigerian constitution clearly maps out the need for representation in every government, and he had adhered strictly to the tenets of the law. President Buhari noted that Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Science and Technology, Labour and Employment, and Industry, Trade and Investment emerged from states that he did not record much votes in 2015, but they were given strong portfolios in the cabinet based on their competence. “As humanly possible, I have tried to be fair to all. And I am very pleased that in spite of the complaints of technical marginalisation, you have agreed to vote for me in 2019,’’ he said. The President assured the delegation that he would look into the issue of poor representation of the Bassa people in government. “Thank you for all the nice things you have said about me and the administration. I have taken note that you don’t have leadership in any of the parastatals,’’ he added. In his remarks, the leader of the delegation said Bassa people had consistently voted for the President over the years, and “will do it again in 2019’’. “You are a great asset to Nigeria. The Bassa nation will use all the resources available to us to ensure you are re-elected in 2019,’’ he said. The royal father said the President’s effort at securing the country was commendable, urging him to also sustain the anti-corruption war. “We are happy with your administration, which is all inclusive without discrimination. Keep promoting equality,’’ he added. He, however, called on the President to reciprocate the love and affection of the Bassa people, who are spread across Nasarawa, Kogi, Benue, Niger states and FCT, by ensuring that they get fair representation in government. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a stern warning to all support groups and volunteers campaigning for its Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to abide by its rules and regulations in all their activities ahead of the 2019 general elections. The party’s caution is predicated on the reported objectionable activities by a group operating as PDP Global Ambassadors World-Wide, who had engaged in soliciting for unauthorized levies and fees for collection of forms for elections into its purported vacant executive positions. The PDP hereby alerts Nigerians that the said group do not have the approval of the party to receive fund from anybody or conduct its affairs in such a manner as to be seen as competing with the dictates and operations of the party. While we understand that due to the popularity of our candidate, Nigerians are very eager to participate in our campaigns, however, all such participations must be done within the ambit of due process as authorized by the party leadership. Finally, the PDP directs all genuine support and volunteer groups interested in participating in our Presidential campaign to register with the party and ensure that all their activities are streamlined under the supervision of the party. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is shocked by the news of the demise of one of our founding fathers, former Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman and former Minister of Works and Housing, Chief Tony Anenih, the Iyasele of Esanland. Chief Anenih was a great Nigerian, a light bearer, brilliant administrator, fine officer, quintessential nationalist and democratic icon, who made innumerable sacrifices for the unity, stability and development of our dear nation. Indeed, Chief Anenih, who was known in the political circle as “Mr. Fix it”, owing to his ability to find solutions to very knotty political and governance issues, remains a colossus with unparalleled array of legacies which will be celebrated for generations. His roles in ensuring the stability, not only of our great party but also for our nation at large, stood him out as a patriot who dedicated his life for the service of humanity. The PDP is particularly pained that Chief Anenih left the stage at the time the party and the nation needed his wealth of experience the more, especially in our collective quest to restore good governance and democratic ideals in our country. The PDP therefore condoles with the Anenih family, the government and people of Edo state and pray that God will grant the nation the fortitude to bear this monumental loss. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) charges President Muhammadu Buhari not to allow his personal ambition to push the nation into chaos. The PDP also cautions the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu not to succumb to pressure to manipulate the electoral process for President Buhari as such could cause serious crisis capable of disarticulating our nation. The party warns that President Buhari’s handlers, who are desperate to force him on an unwilling nation, are fast pushing the nation to the brinks and should be checked before it is too late. PDP’s fresh caution to INEC Chairman is predicated on an alleged secret meeting he held with President Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari, at the Presidential villa last Friday. Prof. Yakubu should note that the polity is already tensed over INEC’s listing of President Buhari for election despite his failure to present the constitutionally required academic credentials like other candidates. This development casts a dark shadow on the credibility of INEC to conduct a transparent election. INEC is invited to further note that Nigerians are aware that by President Buhari’s declaration, in an affidavit, that his said certificates are with the military, his nomination documentation is therefore constitutionally incomplete, making him ineligibile to contest the 2019 Presidential elections. Also, by failing to write to the military authorities to release his claimed certificates, Mr. President leaves Nigerians with no option than to hold that he does not have the credentials and the 1999 Constitution (as amended) did not provide that affidavits can be used as a substitute for any candidate’s credentials. Moreover, Mr. President’s affidavit also shows that he did not submit any certificate in 2015, making his candidacy for that election improper and defective under our laws. Prof. Yakubu must have noted the heavy public criticisms that have been trailing his provocative declaration that Nigerians should go to court over the certificate saga. His statement betrays an electoral umpire who is under threats and heavy pressure to abdicate his statutory duty of enforcing constitutional requirements for elections. The PDP holds that allowing such siege mentality on our democratic institutions to fester will surely spell doom for our nation. Nigeria is our country and we don’t have any other nation we can call our own. Now that Nigerians have rejected President Buhari’s affidavit and insisted on his certificates, the All Progressives Congress (APC) is left with no option than to accept its self-inflicted misfortune. Meanwhile, we are not unaware of the anxiety and apprehension in the APC but such is the price of being stuck with bad merchandise. On our part, the PDP is ready for election. Our candidate, Atiku Abubakar, with his proven competencies, has met all the requirements for the election and is now enjoying the support of the overwhelming majority of Nigerians across all sections of our country. Nigerians are tired of a deceptive, dishonest and grossly incompetent Buhari administration, which has brought so much anguish and pain to our nation. The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has provided air support for ground forces to repel a Boko Haram Terrorist (BHT) attack at Gashigar. According to a statement by Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, the Director of Public Relations and Information Nigerian Air Force and made available to NGHUBS, the operation was carried out over the night of Saturday and early morning of sunday, following a report from troops at Gashigar that their location was under attack. Accordingly, a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform that was on a mission at another location was immediately redirected to Gashigar. In addition, a pair of Mi-35 helicopter gunships were scrambled to the location. Overhead Gashigar, the NAF ISR platform was joined by another from the Nigerien Air Force and they both were able to identify the location of the BHTs, in 13 Gun Trucks, as they advanced towards the camp from 2 different directions. They subsequently directed the fire of the helicopter gunships and own ground troops support weapons towards the terrorists. The combined fire forced the BHTs to retreat from the camp. However, the BHTs attempted to regroup at a location outside the camp but were again engaged by the helicopter gunships and sent scampering in different directions, with several of them killed or injured in the process. The ISR platform and helicopters remained within the location providing necessary air support for the troops until the situation was stabilized and threats neutralized. The NAF, working in concert with surface forces, will sustain the tempo of operations with a view to destroying all remnants of the terrorists on the fringes of Lake Chad and other areas in Northern Borno. http://nghubs.com.ng/2018/10/28/naf-provide-support-to-repel-boko-haram-terrorists-attack-at-gashigar/

It’s not unusual for celebrities paid to promote Android brands to be caught using an iPhone. In many cases, they have been caught out on Twitter – like Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot. But Samsung appears to take the matter more seriously than most: they are suing their own Russian brand ambassador for using an iPhone X for a massive $1.6M … Reality TV show host and politician Ksenia Sobchak is the face of Samsung in Russia, and is required by contract to use a Samsung smartphone. But the Mirror reports that she was seen on a television interview using an iPhone X. She did her best to disguise the fact, using a piece of paper to try to hide the phone from view, but plenty of people noticed, soon promoting widespread discussion on social media. The Mirror says it’s not the only time Sobchak has been spotted using her iPhone. Ms Sobchak has reportedly been seen on television, and at some of the hottest social events in the capital city of Moscow, using her iPhone. Her representatives have yet to comment on the story Ms Sobchak – who ran against her Putin in the Russian presidential elections earlier this year – used to have a party girl reputation and was dubbed the Russian Paris Hilton. She is widely believed to be Putin’s goddaughter though neither has confirmed it publicly. AppleInsider speculates that the $1.6M Samsung is seeking from Sobchak may be substantially more than she was paid to endorse the brand, and cites several other examples of similar embarrassments. In 2014, Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine promoted the launch of Samsung’s Milk Music service, including the suggestion of holding an “iPhone burning,” but one week later he was caught promoting a TV appearance from an iPhone. Levine was also due to perform at the iTunes Festival at that time. Tennis player David Ferrer sent a tweet to his followers promoting the Galaxy S4 in 2013, but the message was labeled as “via Twitter for iPhone.” In 2015, BlackBerry’s PR team sent a tweet promoting the BlackBerry Classic from an iPhone, mirroring a similar mistake made by one-time creative director Alicia Keys in 2013. http://nghubs.com.ng/2018/10/25/samsung-sues-brand-ambassador-for-using-iphone/
